Christina Aguilera to Open 2008 American Music Awards

While Miley Cyrus will be spending her 16th birthday playing at the AMA’s, Christina Aguilera will be opening the show.

The kick off to the show will be a compilation of Aguilera’s greatest hits. She will be prancing around in her best lycra jumpsuit singing “Fighter,” “Beautiful,” “Genie in a Bottle,” “Keeps Getting Better” and “Dirrty.”

“We are very excited to have Christina Aguilera perform at this year’s show,” Dick Clark Productions President Orly Adelson told Us in a statement. “She raises the bar with each live performance and you can expect something special at the 2008 ‘American Music Awards.’”

Christina’s nemesis Mariah Carey will also be performing along with Kanye West, Rihanna, Alicia Keys and Miley. Ahhh….I remember the fued she had with Mimi. That was about the same time as her ham sandwich crazy meltdown.

“She was never cool to me, to the point that, one time, we were at a party and I think she got really drunk and had just really derogatory things to say to me…” Aguilera told GQ. “But it was at that time that she had that breakdown [in 2001, Carey was admitted to a psychiatric hospital], so she might have been very medicated.”

Yeah. Let’s get some more of that action going.
