Jessica Alba Photoshop - Before and After Photos

A few days ago everyone was all gushy over Jessica Alba’s Campari ads. (Personally, I have been more excited about a trip to the gyno. Big deal. It‘s a Latina version of Brooke Hogan celebrating booze.)

Alba was praised for looking so spectacular post baby. I would too if a team of skilled artists took off 20 pounds. She was airbrushed into something more “acceptable” with the addition of extra collar bones and knee definition. They also slimmed her down, removing all of her curves and performing a photoshopped breast lift.

I need a couple of those. She isn’t the only celeb to go under the photoshop knife. David Beckham was said to have his manhood enhanced for his Armani ads. (Click HERE to see David Beckham’s Photoshopped Bulge in Armani Ads.)

Ugh, nothing is real in print ads anymore.

Yes, they did some photoshopping to her, but it is not nearly as much as these photos seem to show. The “before” images aren’t actually the before shots. It is obvious from the black dress shot that the arm in the foreground is the actual photographer and so these “before” shots are just of an onlookers. And because of their angle and lack of lighting Jessica looks worse than she is. (also, cameras add “weight” to the skinniest of girls).

As a professional photoshopper myself, there is no way to start with the images on the left and end up with the images on the right. So, before you judge the so called before and afters you need to know what the real before looks like.

@sean: Perhaps as a professional photographer you are used to perfecting models who are as close to perfect as a beautiful person can get with 20 people in their entourage to tweak every aspect of their body. What I see that is a big deal isn’t so much the lighting and color changes as the very obvious slimming down of hips, the enlarged breasts and the noticeably skinnier arms.

They removed reality, not some fake camera weight. Fake camera weight doesn’t give your triceps that little waddle, among other things, and there’s nothing wrong with Alba’s staying.

Clearly someone has photoshopped the real photos (on the right) and made her look worse (on the left) just to have a dig at possibly the most beautiful woman in the world.

Bad show.

Well, certainly not “before and after.” More like, “Here’s an example raw shot, and here’s the version that actually went to print after getting a digital work-over. The bottom line? These are *digital paintings* based on actual photos.

@cole: Sean’s point is that the ‘before’ pictures shown here are clearly not the actual sources for the ‘after’ pictures. Yes, the ‘after’ pictures show all the trademarks of having been modified, but at this point we don’t now from what. The angles in all the shots are very different between ‘before’ and ‘after’. Look at the last picture: Alba’s position is different between the two and the men are in completely different positions. No amount of airbrushing/photoshopping will change that.
