I have to say the thing that strikes me most about this pair of images is that the original photograph is poor to start with. The version on the right looks like a different photo, better set up with the Campari bottle/tray/table more prominently placed, the model’s head tilted upwards, and some well handled lighting. The background has been changed, obviously, but the model hasn’t been changed all that much.

Had I been sent to do that shoot, I’d have spotted the visual clutter of greenery in the background and would have tried to eliminate it by getting the set moved. If that wasn’t possible, then PS would have been necessary just for the background, but it shouldn’t have been required to create the lighting effect.

some or all of these photos look like either outtakes or behind the scenes photos of the shoot. no photographer big enough to be hired for the campari campaign would be as incompetent as the “before photoshop” photos seem to indicate. while it still shows some of the bodily manipulation of alba, i don’t believe that these photos are showing the actual photos that the photographer submitted.
