Taylor Lautner Replaced for ‘Twilight’ Sequel, ‘New Moon’ - UPDATED

“Twilight” has crossed the $150 million marker while simultaneously getting a new director. Catherine Harwicke was replaced by Chris Weitz for the sequel of the vampire saga, “New Moon.”

Cast changes are also being made. Rest assured R.Patz fans. Robert Pattinson will always s be Edward Cullen. The role of Bella Swan’s best friend is up for grabs. Here is your spoiler alert! (Stop reading here if you prefer not to know the details of the next book.) In the book itself, Jacob Black goes from a normal 15 year old boy to a man. The character transforms into a nearly 7 foot tall adult, looking around the age of 27.

Currently Taylor Lautner is sitting in the role of Jacob. However, the rumor mill is turning with the idea that Taylor will be replaced by Michael Copon. He boasts a role in “The Scorpion King 2.” But, he is just one of several possible candidates. Michael has already boasted his claim in the role via his Facebook page with the message: “Michael is the Older Jacob Black!” There has yet to be an official confirmation.

Ben Barnes from “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” has also expressed interest in a role in the “Twilight“ saga. Ben is after the lead of the Volturi coven, Aro.

UPDATE - Taylor Lautner has been officially cast to return as Jacob Black. It was a tight race, but I give credit to Taylor’s huge fan following for the final win of the role. You can read about the full details of his reprise by clicking here.

how could they do that! taylor suits the role of ‘jacob black’ completely . thats very stupid ,,
no offence to the other guy but he does not look like he should be a part of the twilight saga .
if this is true, the producers are making a very bad mistake .
why cant they just photoshop taylor bigger or something .. seirously there ISS another way to keep taylor in there, people arent just thinking and using their minds .
please producers or who ever made this horrible choice, FIX IT and make sure taylor continues playing the role of jacob black.

also, if taylor doesnt play jacob, the people watching will find it confusing, and will probably not like it as much and cinemas will lose money, due to the fact that taylor isnt jacob

Taylor Lautner is so Jacob. They can’t just replace him. People will most likely not love the twilight series as much if he is replaced. I think that the casting is perfect, and by making changes the chemistry is just going to be gone. Though Taylor Lautner had a small part in Twilight, i think he’ll do great in the main role in the rest of the series. People are going to be disappointed if he is replaced. The guy who is suppose to replace Taylor Lautner is hot, but Jacob is young in the book, and Taylor Lautner is about the age of Jacob. The guy who is suppose to replace him looks too old. Don’t replace him! It’s going to be a ridiculously stupid move!

taylor is jacob. changing him now would be all wrong, taylor fits the role perfectly from his facial expressions,to his personality, changing him for someone like micheal would be a mistake, in the movies ive seen micheal hes not a very good actor. and the few minutes taylor appeared as jacob in the twilight movie he won over the majority of all twilight fans hearts. taylor deserves play jacob hes worked hard for this role, and he was so enthusiastic if you read previous interviews with him he would tell them how excited he was and that he would have to work out but he would get right on that after twilight was done. the role of jacob black can only and should only be played by taylor lautner.

I thought Taylor was the perfect Jacob in ‘Twilight’. I believe he should be Jacob in ‘New Moon’ until Jacob changes. The change makes a teenage boy into a 25+, 6′7″ man. I do not think Taylor can pull off the werewolf changed body. I believe Steven Strait would morph perfectly into the werewolf Jacob. Even Stephenie said that Steven was who she pictured as Jacob. I have heard that he was offered the part in ‘Twilight’ and had prior movie commitments, but I don’t think he would have been able to play the Jacob of ‘Twilight’ anyway. I want ‘New Moon’ to be the best movie that it can be, and I also want ‘Eclipse’ and ‘Breaking Dawn’ to make it to the screen as well. These three movies will require the larger Jacob. Sorry if I offend, but Taylor’s day is coming. He is a very handsome and talented young man with a very bright future, but we must wish for what is best for the Saga.

We love talyor and if he replaced i will be so mad. that guy micheal is so ugly he is way to old he looks like 45 ewwwww. like no one will be team jacob anymore. I personally did not like taylor because he was to baby faced- but it could also be the TOTALLY fake wig he had on UGLY - what I think they should do is to keep Taylor for some of New Moon because in the book he is the same then TRANSFORMS after like three days this way Taylor fans could still see Taylor and it would not be like they completely replaced him I would be like Taylor actually change from a human body to a werewolf one

omg that guy is not cute! he is so mean too, read his J-14 interview. If they replace Taylor, i will not see new moon. We need to boycott this, it’s ridiculous! Everyone is worried about Taylor not being fit to play Jacob because of his size, but i’d rather see a small part of looking like a werewolf sized teenager stripped than making this Michael dude be in the movie. Honestly, Taylor fits perfectly. We have to keep in mind that Jacob is only 15 when Bella and he meet up again since their childhood. So he cannot be some older, 20-year-old looking guy. I swear, they’re asking for the worst from the fans even just considering replacing Taylor. It will just look terrible if Jake is that young-looking in Twilight, and then all big and grown-up in New Moon. I was already unimpressed for Twilight.. I am hoping New Moon and the further movies will make up for that. But, at this point, I’m losing faith.

I personally think that Taylor Lautner should KEEP the role of Jacob Black. I know this will sound kind of stupid, but i had only read about 1/4 of ‘Twilight’ before i saw the movie. And i LOVED Taylor playing Jacob. I just finished the ‘Eclipse’ tonight (and cried at the end if i might add :P), and the entire time i’ve been reading the Twilight series, I’ve been picturing TAYLOR LAUTNER as Jacob, only a little taller of course, and im pretty sure other fans have been doing the same thing as they read the books. Replacing Taylor Lautner, would be like replacing JACOB himself. and no fan that i know wants that. He fits the personality exactly (from being the ub-beat happy Jacob, to becoming a more “bad tempered” Jacob) I’ve heard people talk about how Taylor wouldn’t fit the role of the older Jacob because of his ‘little boy looks’ or whatever. BUT, if you’ve seen ‘Sharkboy and Lavagirl’, he can be pretty freakin scary looking and mean if you ask me. lol. I’ve also seen EVERYWHERE, issues about his height. But it’s HOLLYWOOD for cryin out loud! I’m pretty sure they can do SOMETHING to fix that one and only flaw. Otherwise, he’s PERFECT!

In fact, the people will think it sucks if they replace Taylor.

OMFG!!! one of the only reasons i watched twilight cuz it had Rob Pattinson “Edward” and Taylor Lautner “Jocab,” and all of edward's brothers… The director has to be friggin nuts to replace taylor. ok i really think Taylor Lautner does look definitely strong enough but you have to think about how tall he is. in the new moon book Jacob gets freakishly tall and keeps growing. so i think its more about how tall he is, instead of how strong. i think Micheal Copon might be better for the role of Jacob because he is really tall. and dont get me wrong Taylor is a real hotty but i dont think he is tall enough. Micheal does look sort of like an older version of Taylor.

I definately think thay Taylor Lautner should play the role of Jacob in New Moon because He is known for Jacob Black. He is trying his best to keep that role. Who really cares that he is a little tinge smaller than the Jacob in the book and that he isn’t the most muscular man ever, It doesn’t matter. No one really watches out for those things in the movie. They are there to see what happens! And plus, He is working out more and more to play that role. Let him KEEP THE ROLE! Actually let him keep the role throughout the entire series, HE IS PERFECT! The movie wouldn’t be the same if he wasn’t in this one. If he isn’t in it, I don’t think i would really enjoy watching it. Taylor was made to play him. If he isn’t in the movie, I’ll be like seriously lost; 2 different faces for Jacob? Come on!! KEEP HIM!

Taylor has proven himself as being Jacob Black. The twilight has been successful because of the original casts. The movie gross so much because of the passionate fans they have. Why change something that isnt broken? Learn from the series Harry Potter, they didn’ change any casts, the director just added new cast members. Michael Copon is a great actor, but the movies Twilight is more than just the plot of the movie or the great acting. The fans go out and see the movies is more about seeing their favorite star on the big screen. And for Taylor he made the movie better and he fits the role as a young werewolf that eventually turns to a man…Whoever is replacing him, dont you know that Taylor Launter will grow up for the next Twilight saga…

im soooooooooooo glad taylor is jacob black, im a huge twilight fan and the movie just wouldnt be the same if taylor wasnt in it, i love him (and robert pattinson of course) i was seriously considering eclipse without taylor and i just couldnt imagine it!!! there is only one jacob black and thats taylor lautner, and the producers are just being rediculous if they thought that would change!!
