First Vanessa Hudgens is in, then she’s out. Next Dakota Fanning is offered a role outright. Now, “Ugly Betty” star America Ferrera reveals that she may also be jumping onto the “Twilight” bandwagon. The actress admitted on her blog that she auditioned for the role of Emily in the “Twilight” follow-up “New Moon”.
Ferrera states via Crazy Days and Nights:
“I got to audition for ‘New Moon’ today! For the role of Emily. The casting director, you fans of the book will be glad to know, has read the books and loves them. And you can tell. His direction was spot on for the character. I loved the books. I would so love to be in the movie!!!”
For the few men who may be reading this, Emily Young is the fiancée (and imprinting victim) to Sam Uley-the leader of the La Push werewolves. She’s also the second cousin of Leah Clearwater, the role Vanessa Hudgens was once rumored to be up for.
I don’t know about you other Twi-hards out there, but this is starting to get on my nerves. I think I liked it more when the movie was full of no one I had ever heard of and Peter Facinelli (no one forgets Mike Dexter).
*UPDATE- It appears that this might be the wrong America after the role of Emily. Word is that it was a girl named America Young that is up for the role. She is a friend of the “Crazy Days and Nights” Editor and apparently the originator of this story (Celebuzz) got the two America’s mixed up. (Thanks to Steph)

I agree! I wish they would focus on up and coming actors instead of all these big names. I like America, Dakota and Vanessa, but would be beyond dissapointed if any of them got the roles. When i first heard this rumor they said it was misprint and someone named America young was supposed to be the one who auditioned. Ugly Betty can not be Emily.
I’m with you…. I liked it better when it was people you never heard of and learned to love them. I can see her in this role though. But you keep adding the big names and it’s not going to leave a lot of money left for the movie! I guess time will tell.
Thanks for the support guys. I was telling a friend this morning, I really like watching Twilight and seeing “Edward” and “Bella” and “Jasper.” If this continues I will see Ugly Betty, not Emily.
America Young I could see as Emily…if America Ferrera gets the part it will blow! I will see Ugly Betty there! Emily is supposed to be so pretty….not trying to hate, but she just doesn’t quite fit the part. I could see Young though. Plus, Ferrera seems to be too much of a diva. Don’t like her much
I think that America Ferrera shouldn’t get the part of Emily because shes too famous. but i don’t want America Young either; I don’t think she’s pretty enough. And Vanessa Hudgens should definitely NOT be in New Moon. Dakota Fanning wouldn’t be a bad addition.
OMG…. i so agree with you all. Seriously the movie was so much better when the actors and actresses were no body (meaning not Famous). Having big celebrities on the Twilight Sagas just doesnt feel right. I mean i dont mind just one or two big famous people on New Moon but they shouldnt be allowed to take big role and steal the spot light. Just cuz Twilight has became World Wide, lots of famous people wanna get the spot light so they audition but i still believe that the Producers should choose fresh new people. I just cant it. its really getting on my nerves!!!! btw does anyone know when Midnight Sun will come out???
Im sorry guys but the twilight movie blowed, I say if you want a movie done right you have to get people who have acting experiance. Im sorry but I like to beable to say I love twilight without people laughing at me for once, and actually saying “yeah that was a great movie” so I say sure have america play emily, she looks like she would look good with scars all over her face like emily has and she is an awesome actor.
