As in over…never gonna happen. After fans have seen “Twilight” and read all 4 of the books in the vampire series, they are clearly hungry for more. While Stephenie Meyers, author of this phenomenon, was in the process of writing a 5th addition to the books a leak of the unfinished manuscript put a screeching halt to “Midnight Sun.” The project was basically a retelling “Twilight” but from Edward Cullen’s point of view.
Rumors that she was still going to go on with the project now conflict allegations that the project is forever done.
According to LA Times:
“Are avid “Twilight” fans killing the next book? Stephenie Meyer is reportedly so upset about the online leak of her work on “Midnight Sun” that she hasn’t written another word and she’s not gonna. Ever.
She’s working on another novel that is not written from Edward Cullen’s point of view, like “Sun” is.”
Read into that statement what you will. Other reports confirm that she is working on several different manuscripts which are non-Cullen-vampire related. A rep for the writer confirmed via NY Daily:
“Nothing’s changed,” a rep for the author confirms to us. “Stephenie has no plans to move forward with ‘Midnight Sun’ at this time.”
The author herself explains on her site that she is beyond upset and has had the desire to touch the project since the leak that happened in August 2008.
Per Stephenie Meyers:
“So where does this leave Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn’t like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn’t dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.”
So there. See what happens we are greedy and impatient. It’s like being put in the naughty chair for time out.

I’m so pissed off cause so many people wanted to read Edward’s point of view I mean who wouldn’t want to get in Edward’s mind. All 4 books your in Bella’s mind and part of the 4th one you get a small fraction to get into Jacob’s mind. I dont know why everybody is flipping out. Stephenie is not stupid. The Twilight Saga has made her millions. She knows where her bread and butter comes from, she is sitting on a gold mine with “Midnight Sun” and is not going to ruin it. Yes people are selfish and impatient but the stupidity of one shouldnt ruin it for all and its not going to. If everybody would just give up on it and leave her alone about it she will get it done. I just used the Twilight series to wring myself out of depression, as a way to escape my own thoughts. I didn’t have the willpower to be a ‘good’ fan and not download the mnuscript, but at the same time… I would buy the book and read it again, and again. I am now starting the entire saga anew. It’s been keeping me sane and grounded, in some strange way. I am 26 years old, from Norway, and I want to thank Stphenie Meyer for allowing me to lose myself in the feeling of teenage romance, danger and love. I hope to enjoy the edited, complete version of the other side of the story one day soon. Their different accounts of the same events and dialogues made me chuckle on several occasions, and I sincerely appreciate each smile I produce these days.
I watched all of the movies before I read the books. I literally locked myself in my room and emersed myself in the series for days. I love, love, love Twilight. Edward’s love for Bella makes my stomach do flips. It is completely ADORABLE. Jacob is a hottie too. Just saying
. So as for the publication of Midnight Sun, it is a necessity. The people who leaked the book were dumb, and publishing it will just be a slap in their face when you come out on top. I’m sure you read my last post. But I have a new book idea for you- “The Life Story of Mary Alice Brandon”. It tells what happens before and after Alice is changed. I started writing it myself, for fun, but when i googled for where Alice came from, I found this whole biography of Alice. This is the biography of Alice: Alice was born into a middle-class home in Biloxi, Mississippi, in 1901. Her father was a jeweler and a pearl trader. Alice’s mother tended to their home while her father traveled often. Alice had premonitions of the future ever since she was a child, though they weren’t always correct. Though she rarely spoke of her power, people talked a lot during her adolescent years. On two occasions, she tried to warn a friend and a cousin with her predictions, but they refused to listen and when the predictions came true, she was blamed for cursing them, earning her the epithets of “witch” and “changeling” from the townsfolk.
Alice had a horrifying vision of her mother being murdered by a stranger and tried to warn her about it. Though she believed her, her father did not. After months of precautions with nothing serious happening, her mother put her guard down, and was eventually killed. While Alice saw it happen and tried to explained that it was murder, it was declared accidental and her father silenced her.
Within six months, her father remarried a blonde Yankee from Illinois whose father was a promising customer. Alice’s stepmother treated her coldly while idolizing her sister. Not knowing if this biography was true, I didn’t know how to continue the story. So I thought that it would be great if you wrote it. I also thought it would be great if you wrote New Moon from Edward’s point of view. I want to know what Edward was really doing and feeling when he broke up with Bella and when he was gone and when he thought she was dead and when he fought the Volturi and when he left Italy. Just think about all of the people who would want to read these stories!
I hope this is true and that the 5th book is killed and is never gonna happen.There is no reason to write a 5th book unless it’s a continuation of the story. To try and retell the story from another characters point of view is for one reason and one reason only $$$$$$. I mean seriously get a grip on reality here people. Hea maybe J.K. Rowling should rewrite the Harry Potter series from Dracos point of view. Or wait I got it lets redo the hunger games series from Petras point of view. Ohh that’s right unlike the so called author of the “twilight saga” these actual real writers had a story that had a beginning, middle, and end and had no reason to go back and try to retell it from a different angle. All 4 books were horrible pieces of literature anyway and to write a 5th would just be an insult to real authors out there. I really and truly hope this is true cause it will be the best Christmas present ever.
you know what Stephenie Meyer’s was really hurt by this I’m a fan of twilight but im not selfish enough to try and pressure her into writing a book that she doesn’t want to write right now. Give her some time PEOPLE let her think it through. You heard what she said if she tries to write it know the WHOLE Cullen family would die and james would win do YOU REALLY want that? Maybe shes also mad at all of you who think you can tell her what to do and what to write and when to write it. I understand that you want to read Midnight Sun and so do I but if you are real fans of hers instead trying to force her to write the book support her in her choice to wait. She has FEELINGS i dont think she wants to hear YOU as her fans telling her she needs to do this and she needs to do it now like your her freakin boss. Support her dont pressure her love her books and love her as an auther. the reason she mgiht be taking to long on writing is because she also wants ur support to in this she doesnt need all of u telling her that she needs to write the book just so u can fulfill ur needs and disregard hers. Think if you were an auther and u hit a rough spot and stopped writing a book that is supposed to be happy but ur feeling are not happy and u want to take a break to clear your head. what if all of ur fans was rushing u and pushing u to finish a book u knew u couldnt write at the moment. I believe thats why its taking so long for her to write it shes waiting for u to tell her to take her time and she shes ready to write the story she will and u will be with her all the way till the end rather its now or if its 4 or 5 more books in the series love her books and dont give her a reason to not write. Be her fans not her boss
