In the middle of a tour, stand-up comic Robin Williams checked into a Miami hospital citing shortness of breath and heart issues, according to “The Miami Herald.”
Per People:
“Williams was experiencing shortness of breath and is currently being evaluated by doctors who are recommending a week of rest.” said in a statement by the actors Reps.
On the advice of his doctor, Williams has announced he would skip four of his scheduled “Weapons of Mass Destruction Tour” stops. Contrary to recent reports that have surfaced saying Williams is in the intensive care unit, the 57-year-old actor is not in intensive care and is expected to leave the hospital tomorrow. He is scheduled to resume his 80-city tour on March 11 in Jacksonville, and the four missed performances will be rescheduled.
UPDATE – (The Dame)
A statement just released by his reps says Robin Williams will have “to undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement.”
The release also included this statement from Williams:
“I’m so touched by everyone’s support and well wishes. This tour has been amazing fun and I can’t wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up.”
