Michelle Obama Sweater Debacle - Photos

Everyone is going nuts over Michelle Obama’s sweater. The President’s wife met the Queen of England wearing a button down frumpy sweater. Michelle has gotten a lot criticism for wearing sleeveless looks and “looking like she constantly at a cocktail party.” I like her style, but her London visit wardrobe was a fail and a fry cry from her stunning entrance into the White House and lovely Vogue feature. See the Obama Vogue Feature by clicking HERE.

Then the First Lady wore another awful cardigan, by Junya Watanbe, that clashed blues with her dress. Her other choices were by J. Crew. J. Crew is never acceptable for a meeting-the-Queen-wear. She even missed a button on the Junya sweater and looks like a kindergartner who needs help. Someone needs to let her in on the secret that argyle and sequins are horrid combination.

That and when meeting the queen and foreign ambassadors it’s not wise to bust out the snakeskin pumps. Save it for Ladies Night at Camp David.

Note by The Dame: Thank you to those pointing out the Junya Watanbe sweater. However she DID wear J. Crew in some the photos show.

We are going to have agree to disagree. The cardigan was completely appropriate because without it she would have been showing her arms and God forbid Michelle for showing off her arms *Rolls Eyes*

And if you are going to criticize her other cardigan at least get the designer right. It is an assymetrical Junya Watanbe so its suppose to look like that. Its a bold choice bc she gets to be edgy with a usual conservative article of clothing. If the British press is fascinating and charmed by the Obamas, why aren't the American press who if memory serves often knows nothing about class and elegance

I don't mind her showing off her arms. In fact I would be doing the same thing for being as fit as she is.

However, I stand by J.Crew bash. In which she DID wear. I didn't think it commanded respect nor did it look “elegant or classy” by any means. Her missing a button….understandable, but unacceptable. Put yourself together….it's the Queen. The argyle and sequins number I stand by as being a poor choice for the event. It would have been fine for another event perhaps. But I would still never pair the two.

Couldn't someone give Mrs Brown a pair of Spanks?

She looks great, I love the sweater. Argyle and sequins just might be the next big thing. Have you ever written such a post about previous first ladies drab attire. Michelle must be fair game right? Hmm, I wonder why?

She looks great. I love the cardigan. Sequins and argyle might be the next big thing. Why don't you give her a break. If Sara Jessica Parker was wearing this you'd be all up her ass. Have you commented on past first ladies' drab attire. Michelle must be fair game. Hmm, I wonder why?

I don’t like her sweater. Get over it. It’s not like I will never again consider her a style icon and as though I have never thought she didn’t look fab. See this previous article I wrote here if you don’t believe me.

I actually have commented on other First Ladies attire on several other sites I partake in. As far as SJP wearing such attire…I'd hate it just as equally.

I have to admit while I loved some of her 'Sex and the City' attire, most of it was crap too. Her Oscars dress this year was a miss too. I agree with Vivienne Westwoods feelings on the fashion in the film. It was rather blasé.

Agreed!

Michelle looks so beautiful in ALL of these pics. I'm so proud of her, she reminds me of my mother, she's just taller. I find it strange you would “rip” into Michelle; however, the woman standing next to her looks dated, frumpy, and hot (the tights were NOT a good look). Standing next to Michelle, she doesn't stand out AT ALL. Meanwhile, Michelle looks regal, and is wearing spring attire. But, I guess you have to find something wrong with Michelle…..

Seriously! Cheers to that 13! Overseas here they are a power couple and created ‘Obama-Mania’ or whatever the paps called it. I didn’t understand what was so great about her argyle frock. It looked very Sunday-at-the-cinema.

Sure she is pretty, but that is a awful choice. I don’t think it had anything to do with Obama herself. Maybe she was chilled and that’s all they could get her at the moment. Who knows!

I have to agree with The Dame. This is a really bad choice to meet the queen in. Maybe ok for something else, but it looks weird with her dress like she wanted to cover her arms and that’s all she had. She even buttoned it wrong. How embarrassing. What’s more embarrassing is the lady next to her! Right on! Get her some Spanks!
I think you guys are being unfair. The Dame didn’t like her sweater and you’re accusing her of being unjust because she is Michelle. Grow up.
