Uh oh Kittens. It looks like Paula Abdul will not be returning as an American Idol judge next season. I know what you’re thinking: Who will do all the crying and spray the contestants with glitter and unnecessary compliments? Rest easy, they have Ryan Seacrest.
Abdul’s new manager recently did an interview with the Los Angeles Times and in it, he tells the reporter that AI producers haven’t even approached the former Laker Girl about renewing her contract.
Via Access Hollywood:
“I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful,” he said. “I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven’t stepped up and said what they want to do. Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on ‘Idol.’”
This news comes on the heels of host Ryan Seacrest reportedly inking a 3-year $45 million dollar deal to return to the reality show and it is widely known that other AI judge Simon Cowell is currently in negotiations to renew his deal as well. Randy Jackson is already signed-on with the show through 2011. As for Kara DioGuardi? No one really seems to care.

Geez, no more drunken commentaries from Paula – how will we survive??? She was good for a few laughs every season. but it is definately no loss.
It’s appalling that Paula is not getting the increase in salary she deserves to keep in par with the male judges. Are they better?Sounds sexist and discriminatory to me. I thought American Idol was better than that. I watch Idol for the interaction and antics of the judges as well as the contestants. When Kara was added I felt that Idol fingers were messing with the mix and it was the beginning of the end of a good thing. What happened to treating your employees (judges) good and fair. Simon brings the sarcasm and blandness, Randy brings the yo’ dog, but Paula brings the drama, emotions, care, concern and nuturing which is the spice!!! I hear rumors that the Spice girl is being considered – boring and bland. Mary Blige? whoop de do!!! What keeps fans coming back to particular programs is the constant steady performance of the characters if the chemistry good! So far, the chemistry’s been good!! Don’t mess it up. It took me into the last two sessions of American Idol this season to adjust to Kara..to where I felt sorry for her…as she had to play catch up to the chemistry already woven by Simon, Randy, Paula and Ryan. Now to mess with it again? Give the audience a break!!
I think it’s wrong what has been done to Paula. This past season was the first that I didn’ faithfully watch all episodes. I did not like having the new full spot judge on. The show was the best when it was Simon, Randy, and Paula as the judges. I probably won’t watch any of the new season.
i,m goin to miss paula and hope she come bac in 2011.
