All you fellow Harry Potter fans might remember Draco Malfoy’s sidekick and muscle, Vincent Crabbe (played by Jamie Waylett) recently went through a drug scandal that involved snorting cocaine and growing a pot farm. (Click here to read the story and see the photos of Jamie Waylett’s drug scandal.)
It appears that the marijuana farm is going to cost him his role in the final Harry Potter films. According to a source from Snitchseeker, Waylett will not continue his role in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” *SPOILER ALERT* This begs the question as to what will happen in the very important scene in the Room of Requirement in which Draco, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Crabbe and Goyle fight. *SPOILER*- In the book Crabbe dies after falling victim to his own Fiendfyre curse. Harry saves Draco, Hermoine saves Goyle and Crabbe perishes in the flames. Since he is no longer going to be in the film, Malfoy’s other BFF, Gregory Goyle, will die in the fire in his place.
We’ve received a report, from an attendee at Muggle Mayhem, a Harry Potter convention which took place this weekend in Northampton, England, stating that Joshua Herdman confirmed that Jamie Waylett will not reprise his role as Vincent Crabbe for Deathly Hallows. Furthermore Joshua added that it is his character, Gregory Goyle, that will die instead.
Another plot change. What do you think Harry Potter fans?

I’m a bit shocked. I didn’t think they would do that at all! At least they aren’t taking the scene out or trying to replace Crabbe. It would be too obvious if they replaced him. Very sad. He’s been with Harry Potter all these years and to have his final role in the movie taken away, I think, is a terrible price to pay for drug use. I hope he learns from this and gets any help he may need.
I do not believe it is the director or producers business , they are not his mother. Now , if he has been showing up late , not making schedules when filming that is differnt but to fire him because of a scandal is stupid, if we fired every movie star for drug use we would be firing alot of stars..
@jackieBoo – In all fairness it is a family movie, bad press like that sends a bad example and a bad message to kids. The fact that they won’t put up with it and that they fired him shows they don’t support it. Plus, pretty sure that he was supposed to be in jail most of the days he was supposed to film … so they preemptively fired him for missing shooting days.
He was one of the bad guys who perishes in the film, so who cares… It’s not like he was going to be a role model. But I am sure it’s all about the insurance and wanting to set example.
so THIS is why goyle died instead of him in the room of requirement
and i wondered why it was blaiz zabini (it was him wasn’t it?) who was wiith draco and goyle
i understand that it’s bad press etc. but they could’ve let him play his part anyway!
i missed crabbe in this film – he really fits the role : (
and he wasn’t a role model in the series anyway : )
On the contrary! It would have taught a powerful lesson about the consequences of blazing in the Room of Requirement! The ultimate lesson.
