Robert Pattinson to Replace Johnny Depp in Next ‘Pirates of the Caribbean!?!’

Okay ladies, now would be the time to grab your paper bags for the panic attacks you’re about to experience! Rumor has it that Johnny Depp could be on his way out of the popular “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. The recent exit of Disney studio chief Dick Cook has left Depp so upset, according to MTV, that he no longer cares to continue to play Captain Jack Sparrow.

Depp is already signed up for the the next installment, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” and the studio had planned to give the greenlight to a 5th and 6th installment as well. However, with the talk that Johnny might not be returning to the franchise, the studio is preparing to replace him if and when he decides to bow out of playing the character. This most likely wouldn’t happen until the 5th movie, so Disney is prepared to offer him as much money as it takes to keep him for the 4th.

The idea is to continue making the flicks with different pirate characters with big actor names to back them. Some of the names being tossed around are James Franco, Ryan Gosling, and Robert Pattinson. The rumored story for the 4th movie involves a pirate’s search for the elusive Fountain of Youth. The story makes room for a younger newcomer, a character who is said to help the pirates in their search for the mythic location.

While this could end up Orlando Bloom’s role in the next movie, it seems possible that Disney just could use that character instead as a replacement for Jack Sparrow. Pattinson was once being considered for a role as Sparrow’s brother (read about Disney hunting Robert Pattinson by clicking here.) Could he step up and be Jack himself?

I am with you guys! Johnny Depp isn’t replaceable. I can understand Disney wanting to bank on Pattinson’s fan following, but I really hope they pony up and get Depp back.

Nobody else but Johnny Depp could be Jack Sparrow! I don’t think it’d be scientifically possible! In any event, it would be a very bad idea. And, I would never watch it out of respect to Johnny.

No One can replace Johnny Depp! He IS Jack Sparrow it will ruin the whole concept of “Pirates”. Because of Depp’s GREAT acting the movies were big hits and Disney has made lots of money!! Don’t mess with a good cast!!!!

Please tell me that this rumor is not true. R.Pat couldn’t act at Depps level if his life was on the line. I could see James Franco maybe ass Sparrows younger brother though. It still wouldn’t be Depp but I think he could be fun to watch.

Some characters are so well developed by an actor that replacing them and having a smowman’s chance in Hell of succeeding is impossible. This is one of those characters. Even if they didn’t try to cast a boy to do a man’s job they’d be sunk. If they lost Depp the’ve lost the future of the Pirates franchise

I hope they don’t do this. Especially not Robert Pattinson. The only perosn I could see is maybe Russell Brand. His normal behavior reminds me of Jack Sparrow. He might be able to pull it off but not the others mentioned.

First of all, in my personal opinion, what Pattinson does has no business being called “acting”, and it is truly absurd that anyone could possibly consider replacing Johnny Depp with him in the role of Capt. Jack Sparrow. As far as I am concerned, the words Depp and “replacement” are contradictions in terms.

But if Johnny wants out of the Disney shows who better fit to replace him than the aspiring, upcoming all around good actor than Robert Pattinson. He could play ANY role given to him! Johnny Depp made the Pirates franchise famous! Robert isn’t ready to step into Johnny’s shoes. Depp has honed his acting abilities and career through the years. I started watching him on 21 Jumpstreet. Robert has only just begun his career - you can’t just hand over something as huge as Jack Sparrow and expect him to suceed. Pattison hasn’t shown me the quirky humour as only Depp can do! Disney - don’t mess this one up! Don’t be like Warner and change a good thing ( H.P. & the Half-Blood Prince ring a bell?? - Changed styles and slashed so much of what HP stands for in 6th installment; so many fans left disappointed ). GO JOHNNY DEPP!!!

first off, Orlando Bloom won’t be in this alleged 4th story cause he’s now the Captain of the Flying Dutchman. so get over that bit.

second, it is possible that if they used Robert as Jack Sparrow it would be a younger, prequel version of the character, before all the crazy loony stuff. so hey maybe Robert could pull it off. he certainly has the right face to be passable as related to Johnny. and maybe if he was working with some better peeps and better material than what he got from Harry Potter and is getting from the Twilight films we’ll find an actor in there. A lot of folks didn’t think Daniel Radcliffe could act after seeing his rather wooden performances in the first two Harry Potters, but then the 3rd one came out and folks realized maybe the trouble was Chris Columbus’s directing style and not that Daniel was a talentless twit.
I would much rather have Johnny but I won’t diss on someone else until I see the direction taken and the performance given. after which, watch out.

Capt Jack Sparrow IS Pirates of the Caribbean and ONLY Johnny depp can carry that off. Any other Actor and any other character would fall flat.

Robert Pattinson SO cannot replace Johnny Depp.

R.P is not only ugly, but a horrible actor. He killed Twilight first of all. In the book, Edward seemed way hotter. Poor choices in casting. Second of all, Johnny Depp has to be God’s gift to women. Therefore, if they ever tried replacing him, you might as well stop filming for the Pirate’s movies. They’re over. Nice going Disney. Piss off the hot guy.

I agree with Stina. Robert is a hottie, but no one can play Jack Sparrow like Johnny Depp. The movie would die on the red carpet. I’m not saying Robert couldn’t play the part of a pirate, he just couldn’t step into the part of Jack Sparrow. Johnny Can’t be copied and will never be duplicated. I also like what, Stacie said without Depp, Bloom and Kiera what’s the point.

Robert Pattison has a huge following of preteen and early teen aged girls. Poor insecure Bella gets chosen over all of the other girls by the one guy that none of them can have because she’s “special.” Hack…right. How many of us women wouldn’t have eaten that sh** up at that age? It’s a common fantasy. I think Pirates has jumped the shark. This only further proves it. Just you wait until they start going “straight to DVD.” As for Johnny Depp vs. Edward…no contest. Johnny Depp is a man who has proved his abilities over and over again, save the occasional trash role most people do. He has played a whole slew of different characters brilliantly. Robert Pattison is a teen heart throb. Of course he has a huge following…of little girls. Little girls grow up and grow out of boys like Robert Pattison and trade them for real men. Maybe Robert Pattison will surprise us all and grow into one. Leonardo Dicaprio certainly did better than I had hoped for after Titanic, although he’s still no match for Johnny Depp. Here’s hopping that Pattison grows up and doesn’t quickly become a washed up has been like most of his peers.

Johnny Depp is king of the pirates and Robert P. rules the vampires. I have only seen bits and pieces of the movies but they are extremely funny. Certain people couldn’t play certain roles. Who on here would want to see Johhny playing Edward Cullen?

But that said, I don’t see why you all feel the need to put Robert Pattinson down…..it isn’t necessary to drag a person thru mud in order to praise another. Rob is gorgeous, talented and just as unique, in his own way, as Johnny Depp…You know, Johnny Depp was not always “JOHNNY DEPP”….21 Jump Street, anyone? I think Robert Pattinson is to Twilight what Johnny Depp is to Pirates…. and I’m a fan of BOTH!

There is no way in the world I would see this movie if it does not have Johnny Depp… I wouldn’t spend a single $ on it, because I am pretty sure the movie would be just another mediocre primetime family channel snore-a-thon. No Depp No $. That simple.

i personally hope they get to keeep Johnny Depp, as he has already established the character and it is rather difficult to imagine someone else pulling that off like he does.
on the other hand, don’t sell Robert Pattinson short, he is a damn good actor…..Twilight is not the only movies he has done. There seems to be a lot of ignorance about him and his work, so i say once again, first educate yourself about a particular person, before being judgemental…

Robert pattinson SUCKS at acting & hes ugly & way to full of himself. no one can EVER take over the role as jack sparrow other than johnny depp. He is freaking amazing., rob already looks like a complete idiot in twilight, he would look even more like one if he tryed to be jack sparrow.
Pirates of the carribean is my all time favorite movie, and twilight were my favorite books. Rob already ruined one, they better NOT let him ruin another. DONT RUIN ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVORITES.
