Charla Nash, Chimp Attack Victim, Reveals Face-Photo
Charla Nash, who miraculously survived an attack by her friend’s pet chimpanzee, reveal the mangled remains of her face today on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Charla, who has been residing at the Cleveland Clinic since the attack seems to be pleasant and in high spirits despite the fact she has lost both her eyes, hands, and nose.
Via ABC News:
“I don’t ask a whole lot about my injuries. I know that I have my forehead,” she told Winfrey.
Nash is forced to ‘drink’ her meals through the small hole that remains where her mouth once was.
Her doctors are baffled that Nash managed to survive the attack.
“The monkey had ripped off her entire upper jaw, had ripped off her nose, which as hanging by a thread,” said Dr.Kevin Miller, who treated Nash when she taken to the emergency room. “We found extensive dirt, chimp fur, and chimp teeth implanted in her bone.”
Travis, the chimpanzee who attacked Nash, was shot and killed by police who responded to the 911 call Nash’s employer (and owner of the chimp) made during the attack.
