Demi Moore’s W Mag Photoshop Disaster - Cover

W Magazine features self-proclaimed “puma” Demi Moore on the cover of their December issue…well, almost all of Demi.

Apparently, the W staff learned photo shop from a vocational high school substitute and seemed to have hacked-off Mrs. Kutcher’s left hip.

Via OMG:

“The mistake hardly needs to be pointed out. If you look at Moore’s left hip (our right), it seems that what used to be flesh is now a great deal of white space. But, don’t worry, Mrs. Kutcher’s thigh still seems normal, though now it appears to bulge out below her sarong.”

Not to worry. Her hip was later located in the trash next to her husband’s acting career.

UPDATE: Anthony Citrano, an LA based photographer emailed The Dame and graciously added his thoughts.

“Her hip is clearly - and magically - “fused” to the sash. This doesn’t happen organically; it happens digitally. Obviously it was a clumsy mistake.”

There you have it. A professional opinion.

No. There is no photoshopping of the thigh/hip in this photo. The thigh/hip area is natural. The “dimple” is a consequence of the pose.

I found a photo of an old sculpture of a female model in the classic contrapposto pose. Although the model is much heavier, she still has the dimple in her thigh/hip area. I went a step further and traced the model’s outline, much like bbonyx at BoingBoing did with the Demi photo. Then, I compared the two. See the results below:

Very similar!

If the model had been thinner, you’d even see a much closer match.
