Alexa Ray Joel, the 23 year-old daughter of singer Billy Joel and model Christie Brinkley attempted to take her own life Saturday afternoon.
A 911 call was placed shortly after 12:00 PM stating that Ray had taken a number of “pills” and “wanted to die”.
Many sources are speculating that Joel has been rocked by both of her parents’ tumultuous relationships that ended in divorce. Most notably, Brinkley’s divorce from Peter Cook which Joel penned a song, “Now It’s Gone” describing.

“Billy’s publicist Claire Mercuri said in a statement: ‘Alexa is stable. Her doctors are assessing her needs and that’s all we can say this moment.’”
Alexa Ray Joel is currently at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York where members of the NYPD have stated that she is conscious and expected to survive.
