[Justin Timberlake Hope for Haiti ‘Hallelujah” Performance – Video]

Justin Timberlake singing always made me want to recoil in embarrassment, but this…this is a gorgeous song, originally done by Leonard Cohen, and Timberlake managed to win my little no-heart with this rendition of one of my favorite songs, ‘Hallelujah.’

I should also mention that he was joined by Matt Morris who is bringing Timberlake to a new place that I find more appealing. Also, beards are the new black. Between Justin, Matt and Sparklepants (click here to Robert Pattinson’s beard pics) there is a new demand for beard trimmers.

Currently there are several figures floating around as to just how much the Hope For Haiti Telethon made. The most reliable number comes from CNN at $58 million.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie LEGALLY SPLIT

brad-pitt-and-angelina-jolie-break-up-1.jpg

Jennifer Aniston is exploding giggles and hauling out her Brad Pitt shrine and dusting off his old bong. The News of the World reports that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have legally split. Meaning they are diving up the rainbow nation child army and cash.

According to the media outlet, Jolie and Pitt met with a “high powered divorce lawyer” and agreed to split their $330 million fortune. As far as the kids…they will share custody, but all six will live with Angelina.

A source told the News of the World: “The document was signed in early January. Both Brad and Angelina had signed it. The contract was like a tailor-made version of a pre-nuptial agreement except for an unmarried couple’s split. It seemed clear they want the world to know they’ll both play a part in the upbringing of the children. But Angelina will actually be the one who lives with them full-time.”

The report goes on to detail that no set date of Brangelina’s break up has been set, but all the paperwork has been done. What I’d like to note is the lack of evidence. The report failed to name this “high powered attorney.” So this lawyer could turn out to be Ally McBeal.

Another red flag on this Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split report is the quotes used in their report from a fictitious interview Das Neue (German magazine) came up with. Currently, reps are denying these split reports. So before all you Brangeloonies end it all by throwing yourselves into a fiery volcano, wait for an official announcement. Which will probably not happen anytime soon seeing as these break up rumors appear to be total crap. For those skimmers: ANGELINA AND BRAD HAVEN’T SPLIT…..yet.

Jason Momoa Gets Conan the Barbarian Role

jason-momoa

How about some news about a Conan who has nothing to do with that late night television craziness that’s all over the news? Jason Momoa, the actor known to many as “Stargate Atlantis’s” Ronon Dex, will soon be known to fans as Conan. Last week his name was attached to the lead role in the remake of the popular fantasy character and now Momoa has been officially cast to play the barbarian in the film directed by Marcus Nispel.

Per Deadline:

This keeps the film on course for a March 15 production start in Bulgaria, and it closes a long ordeal in bringing the saga back to the screen.

The race was rumored to be between Momoa and “Twilight Saga’s” Kellen Lutz with Jared Padalecki as a late contender for the role, but apparently Momoa was won over by Nispel and then won over the studio by filming a few scenes wielding a giant sword. I guess having “Baywatch” listed on your resume isn’t all that bad afterall.

New Music Friday – Plumb

In her early years in the public eye, after she had moved from Atlanta to Nashville and launched her career with a self-titled debut album in 1997, Plumb occupied a distinctive niche: an artist whose passions communicated powerfully whether set to pulsing electronic beats, guitar-driven alternative rock or sweeping orchestral accompaniment. Her music has been featured in numerous movie soundtracks such as “Brokedown Palace,” “Bruce Almighty,” “Just Married,” “Drive Me Crazy” and many other high-profile films, or on TV shows ranging from “Dawson’s Creek,” “Felicity,” “Roswell” and “ER” to commercials, made for TV films or on top of the Billboard dance charts with “In My Arms” in 2007. Whether drawn by her sound or her sometimes enigmatic image, those who have discovered Plumb tend to develop a deeper identity over time. She sang from the heart about subjects as sensitive as sexual abuse (“Damaged”) and self-injury (“Cut”) – subjects seldom visited beyond the pages of private journals, transformed through music into expressions of love and promises of hope.

For fans of the CW show “Vampire Diaries,” they will recognize the song “Cut” which was played during the pivotal story-line changing scene where the characters of Stefan and Elena declare their love for one another and finally become intimate, a moment which had fans hanging on by the edge of their seats. You can watch the video and listen to the song above.

Kate Hudson and Gerard Butler Hook Up

kate-hudson-pic.jpg

Friday joke: Why did Gerard Butler cross the Golden Globes road? Because he heard Kate Hudson is a slut!

Yes folks, while Jennifer Aniston’s PR people tried to persuade us into thinking she and the ’300′ star were slopping spit, Butler was really trying to stick it to the ‘Nine’ actress.

Via Starpulse:

“Gerard told Kate she was the most beautiful girl in the room and that he adores her work. He was really locked in on her.”

Hopefully, Hudson didn’t buy this. Since Gerard has been linked to the likes of Lindsay Lohan, his taste is automatically suspect.

Hollywood Dame Exclusive Artist Interview – Jess Prewitt

jess-prewitt-1

It is easy to identify the jazz influence in his guitar arrangements as they lay the foundation for Jess Prewitt’s smooth melodies and profound lyrics. His writing evokes emotion as he channels the power of song that earned his passion from the start. Throughout his youth, Jess involved himself in every musical opportunity along the way. Whether it be a jazz ensemble, concert band, choir, musical production, or acappella group; his guitar, trumpet or voice could be heard. After exploring music from many angles, it was the collision of thoughtful lyrics resonating over the buzzing strings of an acoustic guitar that ignited his passion. He was hooked and went on to pursue music more out of necessity than choice. While in college, he studied the music industry along with audio production to feed his desires. Immediately following graduation he moved to New York City where he gets his fix performing, listening and breathing music.

Per Jess Prewitt Online:

“Jess has a soulful, velvety voice, with a relaxed jazzy quality, that draws you in and envelopes you. He’s the perfect combination of fluid, acoustic guitar strumming and heartfelt lyrics. Jess Prewitt is on the way up!” -Jeanie Petersen

“Jess’ music appeals to the senses as well as to one’s sense of place in the world. His soft, melodic voice creates a relationship between him and the audience, which immediately gives his listeners a sense of comfort. However, his literate, socially conscious lyrics are able to evoke rage and indignation at the forces over which we have no control. It seems paradoxical, but the experience of hearing Jess perform is nothing but satisfying.” -Maria Burcroff

“Jess has a true passion for music. He brings the audience into his world and makes them feel every note.” -Matt Garrity

I recently had the chance to ask Jess some questions about his music, inspirations, and hopes for the upcoming year. You can find that interview below.

[As You Breathe by Jess Prewitt - Video]

What kind of music genre would you say you fall into?

I fall somewhere between acoustic rock, folk and singer-songwriter.

Who are some of your idols and inspirations?

I grew up listening to James Taylor so he is definitely an early influence of mine. I’m also a big fan of Martin Sexton, Benjamin Taylor, John Mayer and Dave Matthews to name a few.

When did you first start singing and playing guitar?

I’ve been singing as long as I can remember and my first guitar lesson was at age 10. Throughout high school and college I involved myself in as much musically as my schedule would allow. I played trumpet in band and marching band, played guitar in jazz band and sang in the choir. I was a music geek for sure.

Whats it like for you, mentally and physically, when you first step on stage to play, and how does that progress throughout your performance?

It is definitely a rush. I get a little nervous from time to time, but once the interaction with the audience begins and the nerves settle, there is no better feeling. I love so many aspects of playing and writing music, but performing live and sharing what I’ve created is by far my favorite part. It’s very addicting.

Musically speaking, what are some of your short term and long term goals you have lined out for yourself? What are your hopes for the upcoming year?

This year, I’m planning to record and release my first album. I also hope to perform in some new places once the album is complete. I’d like to play in Boston, Philadelphia and eventually on the west coast as well. My overall goal is to keep writing, playing and enjoying music no matter where life takes me.

Lyrically speaking, where do your song inspirations come from? Is it easy for you to sit down and write lyrics, or is it a bit of a challenge sometimes?

My lyrics come from everywhere; personal experiences, friend’s experiences, current events, random thoughts and even dreams. Sometimes the lyrics are quickly and easily written and other times the idea is there, but it doesn’t come together so easily. I find it hard to force lyrics, if I’m having a hard time I’ve learned to step away and give it some time.

Prince’s Vikings Song – Video and Lyrics

Prince was so moved by the Minnesota Vikings win over the Dallas Cowboys last week, he put together a tribute song to his hometown team for the NFC Championship versus the New Orleans Saints called “Purple and Gold.” He wrote it after watching them stomp all over Tony Romo & his boys, saying it was the first time he’d seen the Vikings play in years and that afterward he “saw the future.” I see the future too, which includes loads of vomiting if I ever have to sit through this song again. If I had my choice, I’d rather listen to Brett Favre’s rendition of “Pants on the Ground” than this. Someone write a song for the Indianapolis Colts and you’ll have my attention.

Now, we are providing you the video to the song but it comes with a warning to hear it at your own risk. We don’t recommend anyone to hear it but we are just providing it just for the sake of it.

Per Huffington Post:

Purple and Gold Lyrics

the veil of the sky draws open
the roar of the chariots touch down
we r the ones who have now come again
and walk upon water like solid ground
as we approach the throne we won’t bow down
this time we won’t b denied

raise every voice and let it b known
in the name of the purple and gold

we come in the name of the purple and gold
all of the odds r in r favor
no prediction 2 bold
we r the truth if the truth can b told
long reign the purple and gold

the eyes say ready 4 battle
no need 4 sword in hand
we r all amped up like a rock n roll band
ready 2 celebrate every score
ready 2 fight the elegant war
ready 2 hear the crowd roar

that’s what we came 4
and so much more
in the name of the purple and gold

r spirits may b tired
r bodies may b worn
but since this day is r destiny
r history – that’s y we must b
4ever strong as the wind that blows the Vikings’ horn
in the name of the purple and gold

Ok. What do you think of this?
