Tara Reid is Engaged, Not Joking

tara-reid

Tara Reid is engaged and there is no punch line to follow that statement. Someone really wants to marry her. Good for her. I just want to pat her on her head and send her on her way with a wine cooler to go play with the rest of the has-beens on the playground.

Tara Reid and boyfriend Michael Axtmann were having dinner at The Little Door restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday night when Axtmann asked for something not on the menu: Reid’s hand in marriage.

“Michael surprised Tara with a beautiful round brilliant cut ring,” the actress’s rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Tara was so happy, and the other patrons clapped and yelled out, ‘Congratulations.’”

Tara, hold onto him and never let go. Any man that will vow to hold your drank while you score some Taco Bell, hold your hair back while you toss and hold you up when you are too crunk to stand is a Prince among men.

Twilight Graphic Novel First Photos

twilight-graphic-novel_5102

We here at Hollywood Dame are not above sucking the ‘Twilight’ teet dry. So, for all you Twihards out there, here is your first look at “Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1.”

Set to hit stores March 16, the graphic novel, which was drawn adapted by Young Kim, stays true to the story of mortal Bella and her sparkling vampire love, Edward.

Entertainment Weekly scored an interview with ‘Twilight’ author, Stephenie Meyer and got her thoughts and feelings on the new graphic piece.

Via Entertainment Weekly:

How does the feeling of reading the graphic novel compare to that of reading the original? Does it bring something new to the experience for you?

“For me, it takes me back to the days when I was writing Twilight. It’s been a while since I was really able to read Twilight; there is so much baggage attached to that book for me now. It seems like all I can see are the mistakes in the writing. Reading Young’s version brought me back to the feeling I had when I was writing and it was just me and the characters again. I love that. I thank her for it.”

When this project is done, are you done with Twilight?

“I can’t say that I am done with Twilight forever. I’m not working on anything new Twilight-related now, and probably not for a while. But there’s still a possibility that I’ll go back and close some of the open doors.”

I’m sorry Twi-kittens, but I am old school. When I hear the word graphic, I fully expect sweat and extensive nudity. I am slightly disappointed.

Charlie Daniels Suffered a Stroke

[Charlie Daniels Band - Devil Went Down to Georgia - Video]

I may now be a Hollywood Dame, but my roots run deep into Indiana. Corn and beans fields were my back yard, several riding lawn mowers sat in the parking lot and my town worshiped an 8 foot turtle (not kidding). Of course I know who Charlie Daniels is and why most are worried about the country star after suffering from a stroke.

Via Starpulse:

Daniels is recovering after suffering a mild stroke on Friday. The Devil Went Down To Georgia musician was snowmobiling near his home in Colorado when he fell ill, and was rushed to a hospital nearby. However, he had to be airlifted to the Swedish Medical Center in Denver to have further treatment. After two days under the watchful eyes of medics, the fiddler was allowed home on Sunday.

My cold little heart goes out to him and his family. Currently he is on the mend and according to his publicist is “doing well.”

Senator Scott Brown’s Nude Centerfold

scott-brown-nude-cosmo-spread-pic

Republican State Senator Scott Brown might have won the race for Ted Kennedy’s U.S. Senate seat, but its his 27-year-old nude Cosmopolitan Magazine Naked Centerfold making the rounds on the internet today. Brown appeared nude in the 1982 issue, which named him “America’s Sexiest Man” when he was a 22-year-old law student Catholic Boston College.

Per YourTango via Eagleionline:

According to some at Boston College Law School who remember Brown, the atmosphere surrounding the 1982 photo-shoot was fun and light-hearted. Indeed, according to one, Brown promoted the shoot himself by distributing copies of the magazine on campus. This would not be inconsistent the Boston College Law School 1984 yearbook, where Brown opted for a less conventional portrait.

While he is naked, he’s not really ‘nude’ is he? At least not with a well-placed arm hiding his ‘modesty’. Brown, today at 50, is still totally as doable as he was back in 1982. At the time, Brown made $1000 for the centerfold shoot.

James Cameron Slams Meryl Streep

Hollywood is full of jealous bitches these days! And it seems everyone is hating on our beloved Meryl Streep.

golden globes pressroom 3 180110

First, Sharon Stone brought out her claws to sink into the ‘Julie & Julia’ star (read about that here), and now ‘Avatar’ creator James Cameron is throwing a few punches at Streep as well.

Via The Vancouver Sun:

“Streep may have compared her work on Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox to the Avatar cast’s motion capture performances – which the the self-appointed King of the World deemed tantamount to treason.”

“She did a voice performance for a day or two,” Cameron scoffed to reporters, saying her work on Mr. Fox didn’t require the same complexity or physical nuance that was displayed by Avatar’s cast.

Right, James. Like the 10 years it took you to steal the story of Pochahontas and turn it into ‘Avatar?’ Or Ferngully?

If you’re knowledge of 8th grade history isn’t up to speed, take a look at what The Huffington Post got their hands on and let me know what you think.

Hugh Grant Thinks Robert Pattinson Is Sexy

hugh-grant.jpg

Uh oh ladies, looks like we have some fierce competition. Hugh Grant is such a huge fan of “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson and can understand why women of all ages are crazy about him.

Per Entertainment Wise:

“I haven’t watched the second part yet of Twilight (New Moon) yet, but I understand the fascination with Robert,” he is quoted as telling New! magazine. “I think he’s really sexy!”

Can’t say that I don’t agree with him there! Remember when we could say that about Hugh? During his pre-hooker days, of course! Hugh also says he can ‘appreciate the reasons as to why the teen icon commands such an obsessive and near maniacal following among a legion of virgin maidens worldwide.’ Sorry Hugh, but you need to get in the back of the line!

Ryan Reynolds: Hot Man Walking

ryan-reynolds-hot-man-walking-41.jpg

It’s Wednesday kittens. And, since we are a Spidei-Free gossip site, there isn’t much in the way of news floating around this morning. And then…..ahhhhh!!!!

These pics of Ryan Reynolds walking around surfaced. Sigh. It’s like something is right in the world.

Heaven has opened up, a light is shining down, and freshly bathed baby is riding on the back of a white pony while playing a harp! That’s what is comparable to Ryan in that coat. In those jeans. In that shirt.

The boy is pretty. So pretty. Yea, yea…so is his wife. It’s so unfair. So, for a moment, let’s enjoy and pretend we’re the ones who unbuttoned those top two buttons.

Hollywood Dame Exclusive Interview – Paper Tongues

Paper Tongues plays for the people. Fusing massive rock n’ roll melodies with fiery hip hop beats, the Charlotte band conjures an infectious, incendiary sound on their A&M/Octone debut, due out this summer. Embracing elements of rock, funk, rap and soul, these seven individuals have created something you haven’t before. It’s music for dancing, crying, loving and living. Paper Tongues Aswan North, Devin Forbes, Cody Blackler, Joey Signa, Clayton Simon, Jordan Hardee and Danny Santell are a collective of artists, and this record is their first masterpiece.

Paper Tongues’ eclectic sound ranges from bombastic songs like “For the People” that can light up a packed arena or a dance floor, while the soulful electronica-infused “Trinity” is inspiring and invigorating. Guitarist Devin Forbes comments, “Our music is extremely eclectic because we’re all coming from different places. Aswan grew up with hip hop, Clayton grew up with electronica and I grew up with rock, but it all comes together fluidly in Paper Tongues.”

Paper Tongues was officially born in 2007 on the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina. Lead singer Aswan North, helped found the Inprov Music Experience, a weekly event where musicians played for the homeless at a main intersection in the middle of the city. The current band lineup congregated at uptown Charlotte weekly, slowly developing a bond. Aswan started cultivating his song writing and presence during those shows. He brought those street sounds and ideas to producers in Los Angeles. It didn’t take long for Aswan’s collaborators to feel the power and magnitude behind the ideas of his music. This caught Cody and Devin’s attention. They had been formally playing as Paper Tongues. With Cody, Devin, Jordan and Clayton’s help, Aswan quickly set out to find other members for this entity. As the songs sprung to life, Paper Tongues was reborn with the same vision to impact rock n’ roll with a new sound.

I recently had the opportunity to chat with Aswan, who took a few moments out of his busy schedule to talk about their music, interests, and inspirations. You can check the interview out below.

How would you describe the sound of your music?

Club Rock – the best name we could think of. You can dance to our music without losing that rock edge. People can actually dance and get down to what we play.

How long have you been playing together, and how long did it take for you to break into the music industry?

We started playing in Charlotte as buddies and musicians over five years ago. As a band, 2.5 years. We came together in LA in a studio playing and recording music and went at it for over two months before committing because its what we all dreamed about. We posted our music on Myspace and within 30 days we were getting friend requests and messages and the momentum started to pick up.

You’re from the Charlotte NC area – which is known more so for the banking industry rather than music. Did that make it harder for you to break into the music industry? How does your fan base from Charlotte differ from everywhere else?

It actually made it easier. I’m originally from the Jacksonville NC area and moved up to Charlotte in 1999, the last year of the 1900′s and it was a good thing then. I gained lots of education and knowledge from meeting different people. Charlotte is a big part in getting our music quality to level. Our fan base are like brothers and sisters. They don’t feel like strangers to us. We love the city and playing live in the city. Its a community feel in the family sense, they don’t feel like just fans.

I noticed on your tour date calender that you guys have been traveling all over the US recently. What are some of your favorite cities that you’ve visited and why?

Boston, no doubt. Tuscon is the number one favorite city. Boston because when we played in Cambridge for the Harvard students it was just amazing. An incredible feeling. Tuscon because we’ve never gotten a response like we have in Tuscon. People were actually singing the words to our songs, and we don’t even know how they knew them because some of the songs we haven’t even released yet.

What is the hardest part of traveling and what do you miss the most from back home?

I’m a homebody. I love Charlotte. I’ve been to London, France, Peru, but I love Charlotte. I miss waking up in the morning and heading down to East Blvd. to get some coffee. I miss playing playstation with my buddies and smoking a cigar acting like we’re grownups. When I have a hard night on stage and get nervous I sometimes wish I could go back and smoke a cigar with my buddies. I miss being home but I love being on the road. Hardest part of being on the road is going on stage. That first inital step is hard and I battle anxiety like crazy. But once that first step is taken I get into a mindset and have a great time.

Who are some of your idols and most influential musical influences?

Steve Perry and Al Green by far. They put so much effort and thought vocally into their music. You can tell on their albums and dvds they focus on their voice in their preparation moments. And that is something I really appreciate. I am a lover of their voice. And Bono of U2. Its hard not to love what he does for humity and South Africa. I have a lot of love for him as a vocalist, too. If you listen to his earlier stuff, like say from the 90s, and you listen to him now you can tell he still has the power behind his voice. Aretha Franklin, too. She is amazing and so very soulful.
