Pro Skier and Tahoe legend CR Johnson has tragically passed away. He was 26 years-old.
Johnson was skiing in Squaw Valley, CA when he hit his head on protruding rocks on a cliff.
Despite wearing a helmet, it is believed that the head trauma killed Johnson instantly.
Via The Examiner:
“The news rocked the ski world and has left many Tahoe locals mourning the death of not only a great skier but a great person. Johnson had competed in the Winter X games and many other competitions. He grew up riding Squaw, and was even apart of the talented Squaw free ride team. Johnson was considered an even better person than skier. His accomplishments as a skier were dwarfed by his spirt and passion for skiing.”
Johnson was also involved in a collision with fellow skier Kye Peterson some time ago. That collision left him in a coma which, after awakening, resulted in Johnson needing to relearn simple tasks like chewing and swallowing.
Our thoughts are with Johnson’s family.
