Former ‘American Idol‘ contestant Crystal Bowersox wed her fiance Brian Walker in Chicago on Sunday. Taking advantage of the notable date, 10-10-10, the couple married in the nightclub where they first met six years ago at Open Mic Night in an eco-conscious ceremony less than five months after splitting from her boyfriend just before the AI finale. Engaged for only a few weeks, Bowersox – who wore a gown made of hemp and cotton embellished with macrame, seashell, and bead detailing – and her husband have been friends for years.
Per People:
“Our lives have never made more sense than they do right now,” Bowersox tells PEOPLE. “I can’t believe how incredibly lucky we are to have found so much laughter, love, and light within each other. We’re one happy WalkerSox family.”
The ceremony was attended by 60 guests, including Bowersox’s fellow ‘Idol’ contestant Didi Benami. Bowersox’s 1 1/2 year old son acted as the ringbearer and the wedding was officiated by the right reverend Michael Teach from Chicago Acoustic Underground. Instead of receiving wedding gifts, the couple asked guests to make donations to Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Bowersox suffers from diabetes. Following the ceremony, Bowersox tweeted, “Officially Mamasox!!!…”I mean Walkersox!!! Hahaha that’s hilarious.”
Congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple!
