Ronni Chasen Fatally Shot in Beverly Hills

Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen was murdered last night in Beverly Hills after attending the premiere of ‘Burlesque.’ According to a report from The Los Angeles Times, Chasen was shot five times while driving, then crashed into a light pole around 12:30 a.m. She was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Nahid Shekarchian, a 33-year Beverly Hills resident of the neighborhood who lives just south of the house where Chasen’s car crashed, told The Times that sometime after midnight she heard gunshots — “boom-boom-boom” — and opened the curtain of her upstairs bedroom.

She told her daughter-in-law to call 911 and went outside to see what had happened. Shekarchian said the woman in the car was bleeding profusely from her nose and had blood on her chest. She added that the window on the passenger side of the front seat had been shattered.

The well-known publicist – who was handling the Oscar campaigns this year touting ‘Alice in Wonderland’ for Best Picture and Michael Douglas for Best Supporting Actor – has worked in Hollywood since 1973 and established her own company, Chasen & Company Publicity. She has worked as a publicist for high-profile films, including ‘Driving Miss Dais’” and ‘Lolita.’ The shocking shooting is still under investigation, and no motive has been determined. The police are still searching for the shooter

Our thoughts and prayers here at Hollywood Dame go out to Chasen’s family and friends.

Jessica Simpson Bought Her Engagement Ring

Well this is about as surprising as the fact that a night with Paris Hilton will result in a Valtrex prescription. Jessica Simpson reportedly paid for her own engagement ring.

Her now fiancé, Eric Johnson, is jobless after being released from the New Orleans Saints in 2008. He hasn’t been picked up by another football team and it doesn’t look like he will be playing in the NFL anytime soon. So, this begs the question how did he pay for the $100K 4 carat ruby engagement ring? (Click HERE for photos of Simpson showing off the Neil Lane creation.)

Via PopEater:

“No way could Eric, who doesn’t have a job at the moment, afford to purchase such an expensive ring,” a friend of Jessica’s tells me. “Yes, he made a little bit of money in the NFL and is from a wealthy family, but unless his parents helped him out, Jessica must have paid for it herself.”

Because Jessica’s has been outsmarted by a can of tuna, it doesn’t surprise me that she doesn’t want a prenup either. Her father won’t let that happen, but her friends and family are smacking their heads in frustration over her lack of sense.

“First, we find out that Jessica doesn’t want to have a prenup, and now we find out that she might have paid for her own ring. It just doesn’t feel right to me,” a family friend tells me. “We all want Jessica to be happy and finally find true love after all she has been through, but she doesn’t understand that in the long run if she pays for everything it will hurt her relationship with any man.”

You’d think she would have learned after Nick walked away with $10 million following their divorce. Apparently, the lesson worked as well as being smacked on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. Perhaps little sock puppets putting on a play explaining that if Jessica has 100 corndogs then Eric could take 50 of her corndogs and eat them with another blonde trick if she doesn’t get a prenup would work.

Carey Mulligan Nabs ‘Great Gatsby’ Role

The adorable spokesperson for Best Western sweet potato fries has won the role that Abbie Cornish, Keira Knightley, Michelle Williams, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman and Amanda Seyfried were all fighting over like it was the last cheeseburger on Earth. (Damn, now I am hankering for a double double. Stickers and 10 points to anyone who brings me one.) Carey Mulligan is Daisy Buchanan in the remake of ‘The Great Gatsby.’

Via Deadline:

Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann has found his Daisy Buchanan. He has officially given the starring role in The Great Gatsby to Carey Mulligan, the Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Never Let Me Go star who’ll play the manipulative heroine when Luhrmann starts production on his adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald literary classic.

He called her on her cell phone to deliver the news that she will share the silver screen with Leonardo DiCaprio (Jay Gatsby) and Tobey Maguire (Nick Carraway). Carey was at the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Awards Dinner with Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour. She reportedly broke down in tears after finding out she was going to get to movie hump Leo. I am guessing Karl and Anna looked at her, rolled their eyes and gave a half-assed clap with a forced smile.

Anne Hathaway Birthday Dinner Storm Out

Page Six is reporting that Anne Hathaway stormed out of her birthday dinner crying on Friday. The ‘Love and Other Drugs’ actress was dining with her parents and current boyfriend, Adam Shulman, at Tocqueville. Whatever the topic of discussion was, it didn’t sit well with Anne.

“One witness told us, “It sort of came on pretty suddenly. Everyone got pretty quiet. She left crying, and then her boyfriend followed her, but her parents remained.” A second witness said, “She told the server, ‘We just need a few minutes,’ and then she walked out and didn’t return.” A third witness said, “Her father said, ‘Let’s not talk about it tonight; it’s her birthday.’ “

Reps said she didn’t leave the table with a case of the sads and simply had to take a phone call.

I’m siding with the rep. My guess is the “source” needed some booze/Harry Potter ticket money. (Wasn’t me! I already donated plasma for that. Please, if I were the one weaving the tale I would have added: “She threw some cash on the table, tossed her hair and smiled as she said ‘My goal is to always come from a place of love …but sometimes you just have to break it down for a motherf**ker. Those words of wisdom are from my boo Rupaul and you should probably write that down. As for right now, I am gonna go get me some FrYo and spend the rest of my birthday free from you bitches,” as she sashayed out the door.)

Kellan Lutz and AnnaLynne McCord Motel Hook Up – PHOTOS

They say they broke up, but Kellan Lutz and AnnaLynne McCord were caught leaving a low budget, sleazy motel in Studio City. McCord was wearing a wig and sunglasses and Kellan wore a dirty trucker hat as they left early in the morning.

Did they not hear about the bed bug issue? I guess one should be happy not to find a dead hooker under their bed at an establishment in which you park your car at the door.
