Tino Coury Debuts New Song “Circles”

Hot off the heels of his Top 20 dance hit “Diary,” which Usmagazine.com declared “blowing up the pop scene,” 22-year-old singer/songwriter/producer Tino Coury is back with another infectious song from his forthcoming debut album. The radio-friendly “Circles” was co-written and co-produced by Tino, who says, “When I write a song, I want a beat you can dance to, a great track–but also a story. There has to be a heart to it.”

“Circles” is that track with both a heart and a beat, one that Tino’s fans will not only be able to dance to but also relate to the message.

Tino’s debut album can be expected early next year via Eleventh Records. In the meantime, fans can enjoy his single “Diary” (which recently broke 1 million views on YouTube) and new song, “Circles.”

Hollywood Dame Exclusive Interview – Emma Dean

If you’ve walked into a show of Emma Dean’s in the past 2 years, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d been swallowed into a twisted day-dream. Dean has become the guilty pleasure of the underground with nationally sold-out shows, festival appearances and supports with Amanda Palmer, The Dresden Dolls and Katie Noonan. Her unique shows feature Emma’s ‘Imaginary Friends‘ who create a menagerie of fantasy dressed in corsets and fish-nets, dancing and thrusting their way around the room in time with Dean’s emotive pop-driven songs.

After a successful debut album, Dean will release her sophomore effort in November 2010, ‘Dr Dream and the Imaginary Pop-Cabaret‘, in which she takes us on a journey through her fears, dreams, nightmares and confessions. Pre-release singles from the album have already spent weeks at number one on the Triple J Unearthed charts and pricked the interest of discerning critics from Australia and the world. So what can we expect from her new CD?

“Essentially, I think of my original music as being piano- based cabaret-tinged pop which is presented with a theatrical flair. In short, I call it pop-cabaret”, Dean muses. “This particular body of work explores themes such as imagination, insanity, fear, obsession and dreams. Dr Dream is one of the characters from my Imaginary Friends tour and this album is all about me sitting in his office, on his big black chair and rambling on about the inner-most workings of my mind. It’s about letting go of all the things I’m normally too afraid and ashamed to speak of and unashamedly airing them in song. It’s been scary but therapeutic.”

Emma will be launching her album in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in November and you can pre-order a copy of the album at www.emmadean.com.

I had the chance to ask Emma some questions about things such as her interest in music, the sound of her music, and who she would like to work with. You can read about that below.

When did you first realize you had an interest in music and what sparked that interest?

My interest sparked partly because my dad was a radio announcer at 4MBS Classic FM during the 80s. I used to try and talk to him through the speakers at home when he was on air, thinking that he could hear me! It became really obvious to my mum and dad that I showed a keen interest in music so they enrolled me in a music school in Brisbane when I was three years old. I took classes on the weekend in music theory, and when I was six I started the violin.

What drives and inspires you to do what you love?

The desire to express myself through little musical stories and fairytales. The drive to create something extraordinary. The magical world where live pop music meets theatre. The joy I get when collaborating with my friends and like-minded artists. A need to connect. A constant craving to learn and improve.

Do you find it easy to sing and perform? Does it come naturally for you?

90% of the time I feel more at home on stage than I do off stage. Having said that, I think natural performance ability is not something you should ever take for granted. I believe that it should be constantly honed and worked on, so even when you are having an “off day”, you can still remain connected.

Besides music, what are some of your favorite things to do?

At the moment I don’t have much time to do any of the other things I really enjoy outside music! It’s been such a busy year. I love to go to the gym because it’s the one thing that helps me stay balanced. I also love to drink wine and coffee, read books, draw, go out to dinner with friends, see movies and find bargains at the markets and op shops!

If you had the chance to work or record with anyone, who would you choose?

I would want to collaborate with Tim Burton on a movie or film clip and also record an album with Danny Elfman. I’ve also recently dreamed about working with Imogen Heap and introducing an electro element to my music. One day :)

How would you describe the sound of your music?

I call my music pop-cabaret. I think it is essentially piano driven alternative pop, but what makes it different is the theatrical flair in which it is delivered. Many people have also likened my performance to a neo- burlesque show, which is more about the tease than the strip.

How do you feel that you’re different from other artists in your genre?

At the moment I work with three physical theatre performers who act as “my imaginary friends” . They play three different facets of my imagination which are present in many of my songs. All these performers have been trained in the Japanese Suzuki method of physical theatre and all have worked with an amazing company from Brisbane called Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre. It’s an unusual and off-kilter aesthetic which is prevalent in some of our choreography.

What are some of your short-term and long-term goals you have lined out for yourself?

A short term goal would be to sell out my album launch shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne this November! A medium term goal would be to become involved in a professional team who are working towards getting my music and performances out to the world! I would love travel and sell out shows whilst making enough money to live off the art that I want to create! A long term goal would be to own a house on the beach and a musical cafe with a music school out the back. Every week I would hold concerts for students to perform at. I love the idea of creating a thriving musical community that encourages young performers that may not fit in to a mainstream box. I also want to improve my baking skills.

What are your upcoming plans for promoting your music?

I am working closely with SGC Media for another month which has been an incredibly positive and eye-opening experience for me. I will of course be hitting the social networking sites and keeping a constant stream of material coming on youtube/blogs and mail outs! Check out www.emmadean.com to join my mailing list and find out about my new album and launch shows!

‘The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader’ Trailer

A new domestic trailer has been released for Disney’s upcoming sequel ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.’ It’s the third installment in the film franchise, which is based on the popular C. S. Lewis book series. The Dawn Treader is a follow up to 2008’s Prince Caspian.

Per Gossip Teen:

This time around – Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their pesky cousin Eustace Scrubb – find themselves swallowed into a painting and on to a fantastic Narnian ship headed for the very edges of the world. Joining forces once again with their royal friend Prince Caspian and the warrior mouse Reepicheep, they are whisked away on a mysterious mission to the Lone Islands, and beyond.

On this bewitching voyage that will test their hearts and spirits, the trio will face magical Dufflepuds, sinister slave traders, roaring dragons and enchanted merfolk. Only an entirely uncharted journey to Aslan’s Country – a voyage of destiny and transformation for each of those aboard the Dawn Treader – can save Narnia, and all the astonishing creatures in it, from an unfathomable fate.

The third installment of the Narnia series is directed by Michael Apted and stars Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Ben Barnes, Will Poulter, Gary Sweet, Bruce Spence, Arthur Angel, Shane Rangi and features the amazing voice of Liam Neeson. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is scheduled to hit theaters this holiday season in 3D and 2D on December 10th.

Miley Cyrus Attempts To Seduce ‘Kings of Leon’ Star

Has Miley Cyrus moved on from Liam Hemsworth already? According to the NY Post, the answer is yes! And it’s not with just any fly-by-night guy either… Reportedly, Miley is attempting to skank it up with Jared Followill, bassist for ‘Kings of Leon.’

A spy told us, “Their crews were sitting near each other and Miley was texting Followill all night before leaving the party together.” Another source said, “Miley and Jared are friends, they know each other from Nashville. They left the party together but they went to the Universal Records after-party at Pacha.”

Hey, she has said before that she finds Followill to be ‘pretty good-looking.’ Miley recently broke up with Hemsworth, her boyfriend of a little more than a year, and is also going through her parents’ divorce. Jared was previously engaged to model Alisa Torres, but they broke up late last year. How far do you think this will go? I’m betting it doesn’t even get off the ground.

Jonas L.A. Cancelled – CONFIRMED

I don’t actually spend my days watching Disney channel so I don’t have a fair point of view on Jonas L.A. (Come on, I am a grown woman. I spend my days counting down to ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ while stitching my Gryffindor patch to my homemade robes and watching CNN.)

The Jonas Brothers are suffering a rejected Disney show. Jonas LA has been canceled. With a formula plot being likened to “The Monkees and a little bit of Mr. & Mrs. Smith” how could you go wrong?! – Editors Note: Worst idea ever. Disney confirmed the news…

“We’ve been fortunate to work with the enormously talented Jonas Brothers on several projects, including the Emmy-nominated series ‘Jonas L.A.’ The series has concluded as scheduled after two very successful seasons, and all original episodes of its second season have aired. The Jonas Brothers are currently busy wrapping up their 40+ city concert tour and will soon be back in the studio working on music projects for Disney’s Hollywood Records,” it reads. “We look forward to working with them on new projects in the future.”

Rachel Weisz and Darren Aronofsky Split, James Bond to Blame

Rachel Weisz is the epitome of classy and adorable so I find it hard to believe she does anything besides taking bubble baths in a diamond encrusted tiara after a long day of reading to blind children and making pudding for the homeless.

TMZ is screaming that Rachel dumped Darren Aronofsky (director of ‘Black Swan’ and ‘The Wrestler’) for Daniel Craig. She and Darren were together for nine years, never married but had a son together. The couple has been separated for awhile and have agreed to seek joint custody of their 4 year old, Henry Chance.

“Reps for the former couple tell TMZ, “Rachel Weisz and Darren Aronofsky have been separated for some months. They remain close friends and are committed to raising their son together in NYC.”

Sources have also squealed that Weisz has been hooking up with Craig since they worked on ‘Dream House’ together in early 2010.

Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama Dating – PHOTOS

Sonny with a Chance and Handy Manny are making sweet, sweet Disney channel love. Wilmer Valderrama and Demi Lovato are reportedly dating.

Page Six weaves a tale of Wilmer helping Demi to get over being dumped by Joe Jonas in May. Rumors are also abound that the Lovato/Jonas relationship was a PR stuntclick HERE for the details.

“Sources said Lovato, 18, introduced pals to the “That ’70s Show” star as her boyfriend. Valderrama, 30, first connected with Lovato when they filmed a public-service spot together in Chile for earthquake relief in March, around the time she announced her relationship with Jonas. “The two started seeing each other in May right after her breakup with Jonas,” a source on the tour said. “She would show us pictures of them together.”

Things between the two have only gotten stronger. Valdewhatever allegedly had a hand in Demi’s choice to go to rehab.

“Another source said Valderrama has been a big part of Lovato’s life leading right up to her decision to seek treatment.”

Reps for both camps give the side eye and state nothing is going on between the two. E! had reported back in May that they had been “talking and dating” while sources insisted Wilmer was more than just a shoulder to cry on and listened to her complain about Joe a lot. Demi took to Twitter to slam the rumors, but they have been growing closer and closer according to these pesky sources.

Do I believe it? Meh…at this point she could sneeze on Robert Pattinson and rags would run with a story about she is now accidentally pregnant with Sparklepants’ baby and Kristen Stewart is joining forces with Ashley Greene to smote the Disney star Lord of the Rings style.

Conan O’Brien’s New TBS Show ‘Conan’ – VIDEOS

Most aren’t exactly rolling out the red carpet for Coco. His new show on TBS has been pimped like a ho on the stroll, but reviews are mostly falling in the ho-hum category. However, ratings are pretty good. In fact they are currently beating Leno with a 2.8 percent of households watching his basic cable debut.

Conan O’Brien premiered his new show, Conan, with guests Seth Rogen and Lea Michele. (Everyone else was busy seasoning their crepe pans.) First a sketch depicting his feud and exit from the Tonight Show reminded us he is still bitter. Perhaps rightfully so, but we get it…NBC/Jay Leno/Tonight Show bigwigs are douchebags. The skit showed Conan looking for work and trying to join the ‘Mad Men’ advertising agency, working at Burger King, as a kids birthday party clowns and finally off TBS.

Conan’s monologue was filled with the same bitter feelings and, while I love Coco, I wished he’d move on. Regardless, I still love him and his ginger pompadour. I do find it amusing that he pointed out the fact that after daylight savings time ended he is still really on at midnight.

O’Brien’s pal, Ricky Gervais, also sent in a well wishing and I was really wishing he would have been a guest.

Seth Rogen announced his engagement on the show and gave details of his proposal. Click HERE for those details. Lea Michele was Coco’s second guest. She discussed ‘Glee‘ and the now “scandalous” GQ photo spread (Click HERE for those photos).

Seth Rogan is Engaged to Lauren Miller – VIDEO

Seth Rogen confirmed that he is engaged on Conan Obrien’s TBS debut. During the lackluster premiere of ‘Conan’ the “Green Hornet” star talked about how he bought the ring and then popped the question to girlfriend Lauren Miller. Miller has appeared in small roles in some of Seth’s films including ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno.’ The two have been dating for 6 years.

“Literally, I felt like someone had given me like a truckload of heroin to hold onto,” he said. “I felt like the feds were going to kick in my door at any second. I couldn’t have a conversation with my girlfriend. All I could think of was this ring. Like ‘Don’t say ‘Lord of the Rings!’ Don’t mention anything about a ring!”

Unable to contain the secret that he had bought Miller and engagement ring, he proposed as soon as he got home.

“”She was in our closet changing, and she was literally only in her underpants, and her boobs were out,” said Rogen. “I’d already kind of started, and I was like ‘Oh man, her boobs are out! That’s not part of the plan!’ I didn’t picture it like this, and I know she didn’t picture it like this. No little girl is like ‘It’ll happen in a closet with my t**s out. I figured the only appropriate thing was to place the ring on her nipple.”

Better than a stank a$$ monkey cage at the zoo. (Long, bitter story.)

Harry Potter Set Tours Coming in 2012

My inner geek is exploding with nerdgasms! The sets from all 8 Harry Potter movies will be expanded and made tourist friendly. The U.S. has The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, now the UK will have the actual HP sets. (Click HERE for my park review including price lists, photos and rumors of expansion!)

Leavesden will be home to a Harry Potter experience that many have wizard fans have dreamed of. The sets of all the films will be transformed into a studio tour. This plan is the beginning stages, but an opening date of 2012 has been projected.

Via Deadline:

“Leavesden, the north-west London-based studio where Warner has filmed all 8 Harry Potter movies, is to be refurbished and expanded. A Harry Potter studio tour – offering fans the chance to see the actual sets — will be part of the new Leavesden, which will re-open mid-2012.”

Rumor is that a budget of $161 million is tied to this project. My advice to Warner Brothers (in the words of the great RuPaul)…DON’T F**K IT UP.
