Oscars Nomination Snubs 2011

The 2011 Academy Award nominees were announced early this morning. 10 films are up for Best Picture, including my pick for the win ‘Inception,’ however Christopher Nolan was notably snub from the Best Director nominees list. He also failed to make the directing list last year after the phenomenal success of ‘The Dark Knight.’

The Fighter’ is up for Best Picture. Christian Bale and Amy Adams each received nominations in for the film, but Mark Wahlberg was snubbed for his performance.

Golden Globe contenders ‘The Tourist’ and ‘Burlesque’ were also totally absent from every category. Both films failed to land a single nomination. Looks like Ricky Gervais was right.

Despite his heavy campaign efforts, Justin Timberlake was snubbed along with his co-star, Andrew Garfield. Ryan Gosling was generating huge Oscar buzz for his performance in ‘Blue Valentine,’ but didn’t make the list. Mila Kunis was another actress that we all assumed would make the cut. Unfortunately she too was snubbed. Barbara Hershey was another actress that should be on the list for her supporting performance in “The Black Swan.”

Oscar Nominees 2011 – FULL LIST

The 2011 Academy Awards and the nominees were announced in the wee hours of the morning. I am guessing Lindsay Lohan wasn’t waiting eagerly by the phone.

Britney Spears Tweets A Peek At New Music Video – PIC

Britney Spears is still unconfirmed at the Grammy Awards yet the speculation and excitement about her new album and video continues to stand strong. She recently talked about what direction she went with the new music and tweeted a little peak at the new music video she is working on for her #1 debut “Hold It Against Me.”

The new Spears album is slated for a March release. Britney said of the project that she’s is going back to her “edgy” side.

Per People:

“It’s way more edgy than the last album,” songwriter Claude Kelly, who composed several tracks for the as-yet-untitled album, tells PEOPLE at a New York NARAS reception. He adds that Spears, 29, is returning to the grittier sounds of 2007′s Blackout. “[It's] more in the vein of the album before,” he says.

Is anyone else excited??

‘Twilight: Eclipse’ Leads The Razzie Awards For Worst In Film

Twilight Saga: Eclipse‘ was one of the highest grossing films in 2010 dues to it’s cult following. However, not everyone think this series is cinema greatness. The awards for worst in film are coming up in February called “The Razzies” and Eclipse is nominated for 9 awards for the worst in film. Kristen Stewart is up for the Worst Actress trophy and the film’s lead male stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are set to battle it out for Worst Actor. Jackson Rathbone, who is part of the supporting cast for the vampire series is nominated for Worst Supporting Actor for two different films, Eclipse and ‘The Last Airbender.’

Per People:

Eclipse, which is also up for worst picture and worst screen ensemble, tied for the most nominations with M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, another worst-picture nominee. Rounding out the worst-picture category are ‘The Bounty Hunter,’ ‘Sex & the City 2‘ and the Twilight parody ‘Vampires Suck.’

Joining Stewart in the Worst Actress category are Jennifer Aniston for The Bounty Hunter, Miley Cyrus for ‘The Last Song‘, and Megan Fox for ‘Jonah Hex,’ while Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon received nominations for their roles in the second Sex and the City sequel. Sparklepants is fighting some tough competition for Worst Actor along with Jack Black for ‘Gulliver’s Travels,’ Gerard Butler for The Bounty Hunter, and Ashton Kutcher, who is nominated twice for his parts in ‘Valentine’s Day’ and ‘Killers.’

The Razzie Awards ceremony will take place one day before the Oscars on February 26th. You may remember that Sandra Bullock actually showed up to receive her Razzie for Worst Actress last year. She, of course, received an Oscar the same year for Best Actress as well. Now Twilight has the chance to shine at the Razzie Awards, but I’m guessing the cast will skip that one.

Is Lady Gaga Engaged?

It seems that the celebrity world has been full of people headed to rehab, pregnancies, and engagements in just these few weeks of 2011. The latest rumor is reporting that Lady Gaga has jumped on the celebrity engagement bandwagon – “Sources” are reporting that Lady Gaga and her boyfriend Luc Carl have decided to get married. They spent Christmas with his family in the home he grew up in Nebraska and Gaga realized she wanted to take the plunge.

Per AceShowBiz:

However, they won’t get in rush to tie the knot. “She and Luc are in no rush to name a wedding date,” a source close to GaGa reveals. “She doesn’t even have a proper ring because he couldn’t afford one.”

It’s speculated that on February 13th, the same day Gaga will release her first single from her upcoming album ‘Born this Way,’ that she will also announce her engagement. Hmmmm… not sure I am buying this one, but I will keep you posted!

Aaron Carter Enters Rehab

It must be nice to be a celebrity. They can just take 30 days off on a whim and check into rehab. Sometimes they go to rehab for legit reasons like drug or alcohol addiction and then sometimes I swear they just go to get some rest. Well Aaron Carter is the latest celeb to check into rehab and it allegedly has nothing to do with drugs or alcohol. He reportedly has entered an undisclosed treatment facility “to heal some emotional and spiritual issues he was dealing with,” his rep Johnny Wright said in a statement to People Magazine.

“He has chosen to enter a
facility where he feels he will get the guidance and cleansing he needs,” says Wright. “
Which in turn will help him on the music journey he’s about to take.”

Regardless of what his issues are, lets hope he gets the help he’s looking for. Get well soon, Aaron!

The Real Reason Regis Philbin Is Quitting

At first glance, it would seem like Regis Philbin is retiring because, well, he’s old. The longtime host will celebrate his 80th birthday this year. But actually, age had nothing to do with his decision to hang it up. According to TMZ, Reeg – who is making $18-20 million per year – wanted more money. The show’s producers pointed out that the ratings have not been great and Regis takes too much time off, instead resulting in a paycut. Request denied – So he quit and fired his agent on his way out.

Regis, we’re told, was angry at the offer and that was the trigger for his announcement this week that he’s leaving the show.

Before announcing his decision to leave, Philbin informed co-host Kelly Ripa only 15 minutes before they went on air. At first, Ripa was not angry, but now sources say she’s now livid, claiming it ‘showed a total lack of respect for her.’ Not only is Kelly upset, the “Live” production team is also not happy and felt he damaged the show with the sudden news.

Since when is no money better than more money? Guess it’s a different world for rich folks.

Orlando Bloom Holding Baby Flynn – PHOTOS

Remember when Orlando Bloom was the hotness and you pledged your virginity to his poster every night before bed after watching ‘Lord of the Rings’ for impure reasons? Then came ‘Troy’ and he was suddenly no longer able to make your loins weep. No? Just me?

He may no longer be trolling on any Sexiest Man Alive lists (or even on the waiting list), but Orlando holding his infant son, Flynn, may poke your Aww! Button. These pics of his Flynn followed a breastfeeding pic shared on Miranda Kerr‘s site. Even after giving birth a few weeks ago she is still gorgeous. (Jealousy lies ahead. Click HERE for those pics…)

Jack Lalanne Has Died

Sad news this morning…Jack LaLanne has died.

The 96 year old fitness guru went to the great big gym in the sky on Sunday. The image of health wasn’t always a poster for healthy eating and exercise. In his teens LaLanne had a diet filled with pies, cake and ice cream. After becoming ill and dropping out of school for a year he was thin, sickly and even wore a back brace. Enter Paul Bragg to transform Jack. The nutritionist put him on the path to healthy eating and exercise. Soon LaLanne opened the first modern health club in 1936.

His wife, Elaine LaLanne, spoke fondly of him after the announcement that he had passed away…

“I have not only lost my husband and a great American icon, but the best friend and most loving partner anyone could ever hope for.”

Our deepest condolences.
