The bomb dropped last night that Detroit rockers ‘The White Stripes’ have decided to break-up!
The duo, which features Jack White and his ex-wife, Meg White, released several popular albums in the late ninties and two-thousands but has been largely inactive since the 2007 release of “Icky Thump.”
Via Variety:
“The band denied any personal or health reasons were behind the split, instead stating both members wished to ‘preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way.’”
How very ‘Sex and the City’ of them.
Though Meg White has been MIA recently, Jack White is involved in several other projects including playing with the band, ‘The Dead Weather.’

They were a bunch of AC/DC rip offs right down to the vocal sound and bass lines.
When I heard the stripes had broken up I swear I started to tear up, I loved their music and learned to play several of their songs on guitar. My goal was to see ANY of Jack White’s bands in concert someday. If the white stripes never have a reunion, theres still the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather. Now i’m just praying that Jack comes out with something new…and come to Chicago! I hope somebody capable of making that happen reads this, because I am hooked on the bluesy rock sound that is on all of Jack Whites music. He has bumped Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd down on my list of favorites… that has NEVER happened before!
