Here is another option to catch the Royal Wedding next Friday for all you night owls. The Royal Household has announced plans to stream the wedding live on its official YouTube Channel, dubbed “The Royal Channel,” as part of the palace’s plans to embrace web media and expand its appeal to a younger audience.
Per SEW:
“The live stream will begin at 10:00am BST (9:00am GMT, 2:00am PT, 5:00am ET) on Friday, April 29th. For those of you in different time zones, the footage will be reshown in its entirety directly following the event and will be available in full on the site to view afterward.”
Even without these Internet broadcasts, somewhere between one and two billion people are expected to watch. It will include the wedding procession, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials at Westminster Abbey, and their post-wedding balcony kiss at Buckingham Palace. In an effort to get viewers involved, a live blog has been developed to run alongside the YouTube feed, and users will be able to click on links to learn more about the history behind the day. A video guest book is currently available on The Royal Channel for well-wishers who want to upload messages of congratulations to the royal newlyweds-to-be.
A spokesperson for St. James’s Palace has stated that “this will be the first time a live blog has run alongside a live stream on YouTube for any occasion”, and the organizers appear to be doing their utmost to embrace every available form of social networking. If you wish to participate in the upcoming event via YouTube, you can do so by logging on here.
