Obviously we aren’t all catching up on the news thanks to the awesome wifi in the heavens. Harold Camping predicted the end of the world using numbers he “calculated” from the Bible. He managed to convince a following that on May 21st, 2011 that the end of the world would take place. People reportedly quit their jobs and lived it up the past week and waved good-bye to their life savings to live up their remaining time pre-rapture by watching a Frasier marathon and attending box socials or whatever the faithful do these days.
Alas, the end of the world starting with a “big earthquake that will make the one in Japan seem like a Sunday school picnic” failed to get the memo and the most action we have seen is a volcano erupting in Iceland. The Grimsvotn volcano, which is Iceland’s most active volcano, erupted and didn’t even interrupt air traffic.
Camping previously claimed the world would end in September of *1994. After that prediction proved BS he claimed he simply miscalculated. May 21, 2011 was supposed to be the correct calculated rapture date. Most Bible wielding religious folk gave him a Christianly gurl please and pointed to Matthew 24:36 which states that, “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
We all knew that his claims needed Febrezed as it smelled of crap. Oprah’s last show isn’t until May 25th and gurl already kicked the Chicago Bulls out of their stadium. Armageddon will have to reschedule.
So Harold is either a PR mastermind and his 1200 billboards claiming rapture while pimping his radio network is brilliance or he is a total A-Hole with a 0-2 record.

He predicted 1994 not 2004, FYI
One of your facts is incorrect: Camping originally predicted the rapture was to take place in 1994, not 2004
Typo fixed at 5:46 pm, thanks
I knew from the beginning he was wrong. God’s word is the truth and there is no one on this earth that can say they know something that the Son of God doesn’t even know. Beside the bible hasn’t been fully fulfield yet either. No one needs worry about when the world is gonna end anyways all everyone needs worry about is if your heart is right with God.
you lie like a rug you rae a fake it is may 21 2001 after 6 pm and i am still here and i am a child of god
Yes matthew 24:36 does state that. I’m not really religious but the folks that studie the bible and know it very well needs to keep that to them selfs rather then share it with the whole world and scare the living hell out of billions of people. mostly going out to pastors if you are a follower then sleek your word but don’t lie to the whole world and act like you know when it’s going to happen only the father is the one who calls that shot not you and stop ruining peoples lifes!!!
I don’t understand people. He made these false allegations in 1994 and we are still here 17 years later. People gave him money and quit their jobs. Some people killed their children. I think camping should be held responsible for how people reacted to his calculations of dooms day. It also states in the bible beware of false prophets.
i do not think bad of this man who made a false prediction he is one who loves god he just failed to see that no one knows when the world will end only god, and why would god put us on this earth and at the same time decide we will all die on may 21 2011 the time will come when all of mankind screws up so badly that god will have to pull the trigger. the world ends to evry one individualy when they die so for now just live your life to the fullest becuse just like armageden you never know when your life will end
People need to chill out and let The Divine do his work, and spend more time getting their life in order. All this religious spook talk from Christianity, Islam,Judaism, Hinduism, and all the rest of is utterly rediculus. I burried religion years ago, and my life has gotten better, because I know longer spend my life in fear of the unknown. I live my life based on spirituall beliefs that are not infultraited by religious dogma! No affense Grandma.

Camping needs to give it up he is an old senile man
To Anonymous – “Some people killed their children” – this sounds like an urban legend to me but I am prepared to be dissuaded otherwise. Please provide evidence for this statement.
If you can read this, I am still here. And so are you…..
For those who thought this is real or think that it is possible to predict the day date and time of the second coming, the time of tribulation of even the rapture. For those that think recent world events vary widely from those of the last 2000 years thus fulfilling Revelation I say.
1 the 144,000 can only be raptured after the Israel temple is rebuilt in Jerusalem and the sacraments returned along with the descendants of Israel.
2 For the best pre-millennial easy to understand arguments take a look at Dr. David Hocking
3 The Millerite Movement its off spring (the two largest being the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Jehovah’s Witness Church) are worth exploring. Once you find the problems with William Miller you will have a better picture.
4 Second Coming may not be predictable but is preceded by 7 years not 5 months of tribulation and the descent of God is seen for 7 days in the sky (Revelation)
5 The rapture may go unnoticed as only 144k of the world population will go. But A Word to the Little Flock by Ellen G White might be an interesting read for you.
If there is a God who created this world and is omnipotent and omniscient and all everything then… he created us to sin, have ego, be confused, be unaware of his existence and be the “flawed” creatures that we are. He did it. He created the system so the responsibility falls back on him. Nice world, God. Kinda sadistic of him to create a system where only 1% of the inhabitants get to go to heaven and the other 99% burn for eternity. Thanks dude! And save me the “you have a choice”. Sure, I do, and if I choose to not believe in this apparent ludicrous web of faith, it’s ONLY because he created me capable of not seeing and believing… again the responsibility falling back on the guy who set the dominoes in motion. If you’re so omni-everything, why not create a unified system of reality where there is no 99% chance I’ll mistake your purpose and be damned for eternity. Kinda a dick move dude.

Thanks to your wisdom and God’s words, We couldn’t have known any better. I really thought the end of the world was coming…
Not.
I agree with the entry by “Jesus”. I know many, many people that, if they were powerful enough to create a universe, would not make one that was nothing but a cruel test resulting in so much suffering and destruction. That would be so unimaginative, stupid, idiotic, insane, lame, cruel, boring, disgusting, shameful, ridiculous. It can’t be that the creator of the universe, if there is such a being would be so pathetic compared to mere humans.
It’s not that the Bible was proven wrong- only Harold Camping was! Christ will come back and all will stand before him, small and great. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who will take his power to himself and reign over the world. His rule is characterized by love of righteousness and hatred of iniquity (Hebrews 1:8-9). But many love something he calls evil and/or hate something he calls good. The conscience and the word of God bear witness to that truth. Now there is still a chance to change your mind, turn from your sin to follow Jesus on the narrow way that leads to life, and find mercy. Who will be honest and say that they would not have been ready if Jesus had come back? Who will be wise and do something about it and prepare for eternity? What shall it profit a man if he shall gain the world and lose his soul? There will be no mercy at the judgment- but now you can end your rebellion and call on the Lord Jesus to save you. To hold back and wait for another day is to refuse him. Get ready now while you still can!
“Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.” (Acts 3:26); “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness” (1 Peter 2:24a); “Seek yes the LORD while he may be found, call yes upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7); “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

I’m curious where you found in the Bible that only 144k people will be raptured.. I’ve only heard that number (144k) mentioned in reference to the number of Jewish converts to Christianity that will go out to preach and bring many to Christ during the Tribulation period. I understand that there are two schools of thought on the Rapture… 1 being pre-Tribulation, and the other being mid/post Tribulation, but I’ve never seen a number attributed to the number that would be raptured.. I personally fall in the pre-tribulation rapture “camp”, and am confident in the number taken with Christ will be far more than 144k… Tim LaHaye and Randy Alcorn are considered to be two of the “experts” on Revelation and the events surrounding the second coming… Both are “pre-Tribulation” believers… of course they aren’t foolish enough to try and predict the day/date of any of the events…
