Lady Gaga’s nipples were the news highlight of CFDA Fashion Awards yesterday. Now that everyone has the giggles out of their system, Gaga’s story about calling Anna Wintour a bitch is the story being whispered about in the halls of Vogue.
Apparently Anna is no longer bothering with having hungry assistants throw Hermes scarves into the air as she dials the phone herself to inform menial celebs that they have won her nod of approval. Instead she texts recipients to wear something pretty because they are the CFDA fashion icon award.
During Lady Gaga’s speech she revealed that she mistook Wintour for her stylist and reacted in a less than Anna approved way…

“I can’t believe I’m allowed in here. When I was told I won this award, Anna Wintour sent me a text message, she text messages. So she sent me a text message, and it said, ‘We’re so excited to tell you you won the CFDA fashion icon award.’ And I actually thought it was Anna Treblin, who was one of my very close friends and [my stylist] Nicola’s assistant, who I go out and have drinks with all the time. I have a couple Annas in my phone, so my reply was, ‘Yes, bitch, we did it.’
Quite quickly I got a reply that said, ‘How lovely, and we will all be waiting to see what you will wear.’ And then I thought, ‘Well won’t you be helping me choose what I will wear?’ And then I said, ‘Oh! It’s Anna Wintour!”
I am not hitting the ESCANDALO! button here, but it does give me something to sweeten my coffee with. I can’t remember the last time I used the word ‘bitch’ as an insult. I try to stick with radically honest assessments of one’s character. Like when I informed a crazy hosebeast I know that she has a haircut that is somehow slightly worse than Kate Gosselin’s former butch lesbian mop and a personality that hurts like a hangover wrapped in 6 different kinds of annoying who feeds on other people’s business in order to feel good about herself…it was an honest and sincere assessment that is also constructive criticism.
