You know your jokes are bad when a wannabe jihadist is calling for you to be beheaded. David Letterman is receiving death threats after making a joke that caused an offended viewer to ask fellow Muslims to kill the late night talk show host.
Dave joked about the death of IIyas Kashmiri who was Osama bin Laden’s lieutenant. Apparently some late night lovin’ jihad wasn’t amused according to EW. A site frequented by Al-Qaeda played host to Umar al-Basrawi‘s request for Letterman’s tongue…
“I saw with my own eyes and heard with my own ears, one of the lowlifes of the Jews, and one of their pigs, mocking one of the leaders of the mujahedeen … We ask Allah to paralyze his tongue and grant the sincere monotheists his neck.
Is there not amongst you a Sayyid Nosair al-Masri (may Allah release him) to cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever. Just as Sayyid (may Allah release him) did with the Jew Kahane.”
David isn’t Jewish, but someone who suggests death as a punishment for offensive jokes doesn’t strike me as a details person. Either way, Don Borrelli, former assistant special agent in charge of the FBI-NYPD joint terrorism task force, and senior vice president with security firm the Soufan Group, said Letterman needs to watch his back and “hunker down.”
