Blue Ivy Carter. Reports by E! initially stated that Beyonce’s baby girl is named Ivy Blue. The order was switched and reported by the media outlet and caused mass confusion.
Gwyneth Paltrow was first to clear up the name mix up. She Tweeted the correct name to her followers.
“Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already”, later telling a follower on the site, “It’s Blue Ivy Carter!”
Beyonce and Jay-Z are said to have chosen the name carefully. Sources say the couple went with Ivy due to their obsession with the number 4. The Beckhams also took numerology into play with their daughter, Harper Seven.
B and Jay were both born on the 4 day of their respective birth months (Beyonce September 4th, Jay – December 4th). They were also married on April 4th and B’s latest album was entitled, 4. The Roman numeral, IV translates to the number 4.
Even Blue has some significance in Jay’s albums. Three of Jigga’s albums are entitled Blueprint…The Blueprint was released in 2001; The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse, in 2002; and The Blueprint 3, in 2009.
