Just one more reason I love me some Adele.
The ‘Someone Like You’ singer was cut off just as she getting her acceptance speech rolling. After winning Album of the Year, she had little time speak after the applause finally died down. Thanks to time constraints, she had to be ushered off in order for Blur to perform. After James Coden interrupted her, she let her middle finger fly.
“I was cut off during my speech but I wanted to thank the British public for all their support. I was held up with my voice and troubles but the album kept walking without me. I flipped the bird for the suits at the BRITS who cut me off. Sorry if I offended anyone but it was for them, not for the fans.”
I think she was justified. Of course my middle finger is the strongest part of my body so my thoughts don’t count on this one. I once convinced a little kid who kept kicking my seat during a flight that flipping the bird meant ‘I Love You’ and his mother subsequently put him in naughty time for his middle finger salute.
Sidenote: Blur is currently rumored to perform at the closing ceremony of the Olympics. They are set to headline the Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert in London’s Hyde Park on Aug. 12.
