Rolling Stone managed to get Jennifer Lawrence to say SCREW PETA. Being that she is being upheld like the new but way better/diverse Twilight queen, I am picturing the mag bribing her to say something controversial with puppies and candy. I am sure it was one of those moments when a celebrity forgets they aren’t allowed to say anything that isn’t 100% politically correct nor have a sense of humor.
In one of the scenes in ‘The Hunger Games,’ Lawrence’s character skins a squirrel. The mag asked about the scene and this is what she responded with…
“I should say it wasn’t real, for PETA. But screw PETA.”
I am deducing that it was meant in a lighthearted nature, but her rep laughed nervously while mentally kicking her. Regardless, PETA isn’t pleased. They jumped on the chance to take her words to the extreme and bank on the publicity.
The organization’s president Ingrid Newkirk said responded with a wish that her little No Heart would grow 6 sizes…
“She’s young and the plight of animals somehow hasn’t yet touched her heart. As Henry David Thoreau said, ‘The squirrel you kill in jest, dies in earnest.’”
Newkirk continued, “When people kill animals, it is the animals who are ‘screwed,’ not PETA, and one day I hope she will try to make up for any pain she might cause any animal who did nothing but try to eke out a humble existence in nature.”
Did she miss the memo that the furry little nut snatcher was fake?

Now they got Jen and the Kardashians mad at PETA.
She didn’t skin a squirrel for The Hunger Games. She skinned a squirrel for Winter’s Bone. And yes, it was real. I doubt it was killed specifically for the scene in the movie. But it was an actual dead squirrel that had been frozen and then thawed for the scene.
