I always hate writing about celebrity loss. In one way, we’ve lost a person who has touched lives and made an impact on the world. On the other hand, it gives me a break from writing about John Travolta giving out unwanted hows-your-fathers. Regardless, I am sad to confirm that Vidal Sassoon has passed away at the tender age of 84.
Sassoon’s family surrounded his bedside at his Mulholland Drive home to say goodbye. The hairdressing master was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2009, but his death was listed as “natural causes.”
His story is actually quite fascinating. In his youth, he actually fought in London after World War 2 as part of militant anti-fascist group. In 1948 he fought for his Jewish roots in the Arab-Israeli War as a member of the Israeli Defense Forces.
Yesterday we lost a pioneer in the beauty world and a man who fought for his beliefs.
Rest in peace in the great big salon in the sky where angles can rock a bob and the 5 Point cut.
