    Hardly an ad-lib.

“Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!” is a well-known and widely (mis)quoted line from cinematic history.[1] In 2005, it was chosen as #36 on the American Film Institute list, AFI’s 100 Years…100 Movie Quotes.[2] It comes from a line of dialogue from a 1927 novel, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and first appeared in film 21 years later in a movie of the same name; the line was parodied in the Mel Brooks film Blazing Saddles in 1974 and was cited in many movies after that.

Seriously Gisby. The point was it was not in the script. Go take your superiority complex somewhere else. I would suggest trolling threads for spelling/grammar mistakes instead of having a life, but something tells me you already do that.

Anyway…my fav has to be Roy’s from Jaws. Maybe it’s because it is shark week.

  3. grayman says:

The Han Solo line was Lucas’ idea but everyone else hated. When Ford ad-libbed the line, Lucas didn’t like it and only agreed to leave it in after test audiences responded well to it. As a general rule, if there is something positive from any of the Star Wars movies, it came from someone other than George Lucas.

  4. grayman says:

I meant the original line was Lucas’ idea and the ad lib was not.

  5. jessica says:

Blazing Saddles: bad guys at the toll booth to the fake rock ridge town
    ‘does anybody got a dime?’
while everyone is looking in their pockets and shake their heads no
‘somebody’s gotta go back to town and get a shitload of dimes!’
