Anne Hathaway is Catwoman in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ – CONFRIMED

After a plethora of casting rumors surrounding Christopher Nolan’s third installment of Batman have been swirling since the success of “The Dark Knight,” we FINALLY have confirmation.

Anne Hathaway will be Catwoman in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Warner Brothers issued an announcement confirming the casting decision along with Nolan’s statement.

Via Deadline:

“Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

The rumors surrounding Tom Hardy being cast as Batman’s foe, Bane, are also confirmed as true.

“In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”

The statement also gave a date for release. If filming and production go according to plan, ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ will hit theaters on July 20,2012.

“Glee” Exclusive: Anne Hathaway To Guest Star

Fresh off everyone’s best dressed list from last night’s ‘Golden Globe Awards’, Anne Hathaway is about to add yet another stint to her acting resume: “Glee” guest star!

That’s right, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy announced last night after the show won Best Television Show: Musical or Comedy, that Hathaway will be making an appearance as Kurt’s lesbian aunt!

“We just finalized a deal with Anne tonight to come onto the show. She’s already created [her role]. She wants to play the lesbian aunt of Chris Colfer. Because everyone needs a lesbian aunt.”

Is that what I am missing? Aunt Pat is there something you need to tell me?

“Glee” had an outstanding night at The Globes, not only taking home the Best Television Show: Musical or Comedy award, but Colfer also won for Best Supporting Actor while fellow cast mate Jane Lynch was awarded Best Supporting Actress.

Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley Up for ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Roles

More casting rumors for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ hath cometh. The Hollywood Reporter squeals that female leads are finally being ironed out. A slew of A-list actresses are after a role in the next Batman installment.

Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel (ew, no thanks) are all doing screen tests in the coming weeks. A few up-and-comers are also in the running. Kate Mara, Charlotte Riley and Gemma Arterton will also be testing.

The key here is that there might be room for more than one woman on set. Rumor has it that a love interest and female villain are in the works…

“Dark Knight Rises needs to fill two big female roles, a villain and a love interest. Sources say one character is Talia, the daughter of villain Ra’s Al Ghul, who was portrayed by Liam Neeson in Nolan’s first Gotham-set crime pic Batman Begins. In the comic books, Talia is both Batman’s lover and antagonist, ultimately siring his alter ego Bruce Wayne’s son.”

Charlotte is engaged to Tom Hardy who is already slated for an unspecified role in the third Batman flick. Perhaps she might have some leverage. It is also noted that Gemma has been casted to star in ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ and may face schedule conflicts that could knock her out of the contender lineup.

We should have some concrete casting news soon. Filming is due to start in May.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Boycotting The Oscars

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are NOT going to the Oscars! Apparently, they are very angry with one of the hosts of this year’s show, Anne Hathaway, for her awesome impersonation of Katie on ‘Saturday Night Live‘ last month!

Per Huffington Post:

Hathaway, this year’s Oscars co-host with James Franco, spoofed Holmes in a November episode of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ playing a gaspy, “complex,” and confused version of the former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star. Apparently, it was either so insulting — or so spot on — that Holmes and Cruise are enraged enough to boycott the show, unwilling to run into Hathaway. The Daily Mail quotes a source saying that Holmes and Cruise felt betrayed by the nationally televised impression, given what they considered a solid friendship with the ‘Love and Other Drugs’ star. When Hathaway broke up with boyfriend Raffaello Follieri in 2008, Cruise and Holmes took Hathaway to a Tina Turner concert, the ultimate salve.

“Katie feels they were really supportive at a difficult time so she feels let down that Anne took to national TV to make fun of her,” the source told the paper.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway to Host Oscars

James Franco Will Bathe and Hopefully Look Hot Again should be the title, but I opted for something that implies it instead. Anne Hathaway, fresh out of the gate after pimping “Love and Other Drugs” with a plethora of nude covers with Jake Gyllenhaal, will team up with Franco to host the most anticipated award show of the year. (Unless you are a Jolie-Pitt. Then the most anticipated moment of the year is when the bathroom is free of Maddox perfecting his This Bitch look or Shiloh pinning up pics of Chaz Bono.)

“I’ve just learned that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has asked James Franco and Anne Hathaway to host the Academy Awards, and it “looks like” both young stars have accepted the offer. There is always the chance that one or both of them might back out because of prior commitments and other concerns. But my sources say the host announcement could be made as soon as this week.”

Franco and Hathaway were rumored to be co-starring in an “Alien” prequel so watch out for rumors to follow should this turn out.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway will be naked on my coffee table just in time for Thanksgiving. The duo did a sexy spread for Entertainment Weekly to pimp the new comedy/drama ‘Love and Other Drugs.’

“Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway’s new romance, Love & Other Drugs, is arguably the sexiest movie of the year. Throughout the R-rated comedic drama (in theaters Nov. 24), they reveal nearly every inch of their enviably toned bodies. So it makes sense that their photo shoot for this week’s cover of EW would be equally steamy. In fact, the duo’s flesh-baring photo session was so sensual that we decided to put out three separate covers.”

I am torn. Typically the words Jake Gyllenhaal and nude make me want to put out the CLOSED sign and take the rest of the day off, but he is busy giving me pedo/inappropriate-ness vibes by wooing Taylor Swift. Plus, 90% of the marketing of this movie is selling cheesy sex. Usually I don’t complain, tricks gotta do what a tricks gotta do. However, SPOILER ALERT the story behind the film is actually quite sad.

I digress, never look a six pack in the mouth and say ‘no thanks.’

Anne Hathaway Birthday Dinner Storm Out

Page Six is reporting that Anne Hathaway stormed out of her birthday dinner crying on Friday. The ‘Love and Other Drugs’ actress was dining with her parents and current boyfriend, Adam Shulman, at Tocqueville. Whatever the topic of discussion was, it didn’t sit well with Anne.

“One witness told us, “It sort of came on pretty suddenly. Everyone got pretty quiet. She left crying, and then her boyfriend followed her, but her parents remained.” A second witness said, “She told the server, ‘We just need a few minutes,’ and then she walked out and didn’t return.” A third witness said, “Her father said, ‘Let’s not talk about it tonight; it’s her birthday.’ “

Reps said she didn’t leave the table with a case of the sads and simply had to take a phone call.

I’m siding with the rep. My guess is the “source” needed some booze/Harry Potter ticket money. (Wasn’t me! I already donated plasma for that. Please, if I were the one weaving the tale I would have added: “She threw some cash on the table, tossed her hair and smiled as she said ‘My goal is to always come from a place of love …but sometimes you just have to break it down for a motherf**ker. Those words of wisdom are from my boo Rupaul and you should probably write that down. As for right now, I am gonna go get me some FrYo and spend the rest of my birthday free from you bitches,” as she sashayed out the door.)

On September 22, 18-year-old Rutgers student Tyler Clementi committed suicide after his roommate broadcast an online video of him having sex with another guy. The story devastated Ellen DeGeneres so much that she made a tearful statement about the incident, as well as bullying in general. Since then, there have been a slew of high-profile efforts to bring awareness to the issue.

Asher Brown, Seth Walsh, Billy Lucas, Raymond Chase … These young men also committed suicide over the past few weeks because they were bullied for being gay. These teenagers were the targets of constant harassment and verbal and physical abuse leaving them to feel alone in the world, and like they had nowhere to turn. Since then, numerous celebrities, such as Daniel Radcliffe, have spoken out against the bullying of gay youth, while others like Perez Hilton, have filmed their own “It Gets Better” videos.

Celebrities from all over have been lending their voices of support to the “It Gets Better” project this week. From DeGeneres to the stars of The Vampire Diaries to Anne Hathaway and Tim Gunn, famous faces want to tell all victims of bullying that there is support out there and as dire as the situation may seem in high school, middle school, or wherever they are at the moment, the future is bright.

Celebs are urging troubled teens to seek professional support if they are being targeted. The video starts out with all the celebs saying the tag line: “It gets better.” They go one to urge that even in the darkest times, there’s always hope through The Trevor Project, an organization that is focused on providing crisis and suicide prevention efforts for gay teens with a confidential, toll-free 24-hour suicide hotline (866-4-U-TREVOR) with trained counselors for gay and questioning youth. In addition to the hotline, they offer a variety of online resources, including a chat option if you want to talk to someone over the computer.

Anne Hathaway Chooses Brother Over Church

Anne Hathaway and her parents have announced their decision to leave the Catholic Church. They came to this decision shortly after Anne’s older brother came out officially as a gay man.

“The whole family converted to Episcopalianism after my elder brother came out. Why should I support an organization that has a limited view of my beloved brother?”

However, not known for being big into gay-bashes featuring drag queens and my lesbian neighbor, Pat, Anne admits that the Episcopal Church also needs a little reform.
