Golden Globe 2012 Red Carpet PHOTOS

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards had one highlight and that was the fashion. Let’s face it; the entire premise of the Globes is like a dry run at the Oscars. That is why I prefer GG dresses to Oscar garb. No one will try and rock some oddity made out of feathers and Justin Bieber’s hair at the Academy Awards because they might win and forever be overshadowed by a bustier made of Bieber clippings.

Golden Globe Nominations 2012 – LIST

Ah, the Golden Globes. Nearly 4 hours of mind numbing pre-Oscar buffoonery. At least we will have Ricky Gervais to amuse us by making fun of celebrities who will be sitting in the audience and given their THIS TRICK face.

The Help’ received a plethora of nominations including nods for Best Supporting Actress (Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain), Viola Davis for Best Actress and Best Motion Picture. Ryan Gosling was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy and my loins will be torn as he battles Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the award.

Ricky Gervais to RETURN to Golden Globes !?

Ricky Gervais is riding his Golden Globes “controversy” like a circus pony. After his hosting gig at the awards show hurt too many celebs’ tender feelings, it was said he was kicked off the show half way through. That proved to be false. It was then rumored that he would never be invited back to the awards let alone host ever again. President of the HFPA, Philip Berck, had told reporters the day after the show that Gervais had “crossed the line.” Berck had been the butt of one of Ricky’s jokes as he introduced him and told the audience he had helped him off the toilet and popped his teeth in. Regardless, he might be back anyway.

In next week’s issue of UK’s Heat Magazine Gervais shares a Golden Globes Diary spread. At the end of the scrapbook he stated that he was offered a return trip to host the awards next year.

“I did exactly what I went to do. Improve on last year’s and have a laugh. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chat show for weeks.

The weird thing is the question is always, ‘Did Ricky go too far?’ And the answer is always, ‘No.’ I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it. The ratings went up again, and the organizers asked me to consider a third year. I don’t think I should I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get more press for them, that’s for sure.”

So will he return? I can’t see him genuinely passing on the chance just because some people threw a fit. My guess is that he will host again if he is offered the gig.

Ricky Gervais: “I Was Just Doing My Job” – Video

As host of the Golden Globe Awards, Ricky Gervais took sharp, arguably cruel jabs at targets including Charlie Sheen, Cher, the film “The Tourist” and even the sponsoring Hollywood Foreign Press Association. I say, WELL DONE! BRAVO! I mean, REALLY, he was the only thing that made a usually tedious, ho hum awards show EXCITING… For once! It’s usually a total snooze. Gervais was only keepin’ it real!

Per CNN:

“I was just doing my job,” he insists. “If they didn’t want me, they shouldn’t have hired me,” the British barb-slinger said on CNN‘s “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

“I don’t think I did anything wrong,” Gervais said. “Those were like gibes at these people, and I’m sure they’ve got a sense of humor.

“I’m not going to apologize for being true to myself,” he said. “My strategy is to make me laugh. If there’s anyone in the world like me, that’s a bonus.”

Gervais, who was making his second appearance as Golden Globes host, said he took the job on the condition that he could say what he wanted. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which administers the Globes, didn’t clear his material beforehand.

“They didn’t want to see it,” he said.

There has been no official word on whether Gervais will be back next year, but I can only hope he WILL be!

Christina Aguilera and Julianne Hough Golden Globe FIGHT!

I knew something more scandalous than some minor flirting and a star hook-up had to of happened during the Golden Globes hoopla! According to E! Online, Christina Aguilera and Julianne Hough were involved in an angry exchange of words while at a pre-Globes bash Friday at the SoHo House in West Hollywood.

“Christina really got in her face,” an eyewitness told E! News, saying that Aguilera unleashed a verbal barrage at Hough.

Onlookers said Aguilera even grabbed Hough, leading the ‘Dancing With the Stars’ hoofer to snap, “Don’t touch me!”

Before the two separated, Aguilera threatened to torpedo Hough’s burgeoning country singing career. Hough was said to be “visibly upset” by the incident, according to one insider. “The whole thing was troubling. People felt bad for Julianne.”

The two reportedly didn’t get along while filming ‘Burlesque’ and it’s evident there are still unresolved issues, although it’s unclear what caused their drama at the party. Aguilera’s rep, of course, refers to this report as “nonsense.” No word yet from anyone in Hough’s camp.

Olivia Wilde and Ryan Gosling Flirting at Golden Globes After Party – PHOTOS

Before you get your shivs out and vow to hunt down Olivia Wilde, know that she is married to a Prince and was probably listening to his joke about two ducks, a vicar and a bottle of Yoo-Hoo.

There is no evidence beyond the fact she and Ryan Gosling were chatting to suggest these two were actually flirting and got to see each other naked, but a few other sites are suggesting it. Ryan and Olivia also talked during a few commercials at the Golden Globes.

I will let you decide, but only in Hollywood does talking with someone equal a torrid affair…

Sandra Bullock Talks Ryan Reynolds At Golden Globes – Video

Did you watch the Golden Globe Awards last night? Sandra Bullock was rocking some new bangs and she looked amazing! Last night while Sandra was on the red carpet, Al Roker stopped her to do the normal interview and then began to ask about her love life. It’s been rumored the last few weeks that she and recently separated Ryan Reynolds were dating. But what did Sandra have to say about the rumor?

I love how she talks about the dress and why she picked it. And no Ryan’s not her lov-ah! They’re just good friends. Well good friends make the best lovers, Sandra!!!

Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund ‘Inseparable’ At Golden Globes Party

Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund starred in ‘Country Strong‘ together, but now there’s talk that they’ve become more than friends and co-stars after the pair was spotted getting close at a Golden Globes after party.

Per US:

As the duo chatted, “Garret wrapped his arm around her,” the observer says. “She wraps her arm completely around his neck and pulls him for a quick peck on the lips.”

The insider continued that the pair were “inseparable the entire night,” and as they left, Garrett was “massaging her shoulders.” Could this be the first hot new Hollywood romance of 2011?! I can’t wait to see how, or even if, this one plays out!

Ricky Gervais Golden Globe Awards 2011 – VIDEO

Ricky Gervais hosted the 2011 Golden Globes Awards and opened with a monologue that left most of Hollywood’s elite angry. Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie were his first targets. He poked fun at the box office bomb that managed to garner several nominations, ‘The Tourist.’ Next he wondered aloud why ‘Sex and the City 2’ was snubbed as the airbrush team for the posters alone deserved a nod as he added, “Girls, we know how old you are. I saw one of you on an episode of ‘Bonanza’!”

What created the most tension in the audience was a punch line that hit a Hollywood vet who did not attend the event. Gervais brought up ‘I Love You Philip Morris.’ The punch line stabbed at Tom Cruise/John Travolta

“Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor, two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay. So the complete opposite of some Scientologists, then.”

Later Ricky attacked Robert Downey Jr. before introducing him as a presenter after listing his film accomplishments and adding, “But many of you in this room probably know him best from such facilities as the Betty Ford Clinic and Los Angeles County Jail.” Obviously it was in poor taste, and Downey snapped back with, “Aside from the fact that it’s been hugely mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones, I’d say the vibe of the show has been pretty good so far, wouldn’t you?”

I still love Ricky and the thing about his style is that he doesn’t answer to the pampered celebs who demand decorum and worshipping at all times. He pushed the boundaries of respectability by attacking the easy targets with hard and sometimes low blows, but that is what you get when tap him for hosting duties. You can’t give him a room full of A-list celebs and a microphone with the expectation that he will bite his tongue. It’s like giving me a bottle of vodka while playing ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me’ and not expecting my top to come off.
