‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’ has broken box office records with a staggering $475.5 million worldwide opening weekend. Of that, $92.1 million was opening day of which $43.5 million came from midnight showings. It has dethroned ‘The Dark Knight’ as biggest opening weekend in history (America). The Batman sequel previously held the title with a U.S. opening of $158.4 million. HP7 Part 2 also smashed ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Friday night haul of $72.7 million by an astounding $20 million.
Early reviews for ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’ were positive sans 2 reviews from the same site I personally never heard of. (Click HERE for those reviews and some behind the scenes photos…) Since the midnight release it is currently sitting at a 97% critic approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes with the audience agreeing at a 92%. (As of the time I am posting this.)
The 2 negative reviews which sang the praises of the film but ended with a I DIDN’T LIKE IT stamp have been joined by just 3 more.
After geeking out last weekend with an ABC Family Harry Potter weekend, I am practically vibrating in anticipation of the final film, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.’ It will be bittersweet and the last time I can wear my “I Get Sleazy for Ron Weasly” shirt in good company. Reviews for the film are starting to appear and they are reassuring so far…
‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ London Premiere
Harry Potter is finally meeting the end of the series. Of course if you have read the books you know the boy wizard’s fate. Movie fans, who I encourage with vigor to read the books as the films leave out SO much, will finally get know who survives the final battle between Voldemort and Harry. It will deliver its tag line promise, “It all ends here.”
Until the official release on July 15th for the rest of us, Cinema Blend has some fresh clips to entice you. I will put a bit of a SPOILER ALERT here as some details that haven’t made trailers and previous clips are shown.

Rowling has created a virtual world that combines a new reading experience with the promise of exclusive content the author has been keeping to herself. Interactive moments in the Harry Potter books will come to life for the reader with illustrations. The reader will go through the same experiences that Harry encounters along the way. From being sorted into your house to casting spells, mixing potions, visiting Diagon Alley and having your wand choose you the site will be a safe way to be a part of the Potter phenomenon.
J.K. Rowling has got every Harry Potter fan wondering just what the big announcement and secret of Pottermore is. The countdown on the site started with an owl perched on a tree. Since the countdown started, more and more owls have joined the wait along with the teaser “The owls are gathering…Find out why soon.” As of right now, 20 owls are waiting on the countdown video. If you hover your mouse over them the shake their head and tails.
But what is it all going to add up to be? Our hopes for another Harry Potter book have already been dashed as Scholastic already confirmed it is not another book. But, could it be something even better?
I will be taking the rest of the day off to get my geek on and watch the new and final ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’ trailer on repeat. It is by far the best trailer of the final movie.
