Elton John Helps Eminem Overcome Drug Addiction

Every once in a while, its nice to throw in a positive story into the mix! Elton John says he has been helping Eminem kick his drug habit for more than a year, who’s admitted publicly that he’s addicted to prescription pills – mostly Vicodin, Valium, and Ambien – and has taken as many as over 20 pills a day.

Per Guardian:

“I’ve been helping Eminem in the last 18 months and he is doing brilliantly,” he said, going on to refer to his own successful struggle with addiction. “When you give it up, you tend to think everybody else has given it up, but of course it is just as prevalent as it ever was. And nowadays pills, such as downers, are even more damaging.”

Eminem admitted in May right before the release of his album “Relpase” that he had been struggling with addiction. He went through rehab in 2005, but he almost died from a near-fatal overdose after an acquaintance gave several unidentified blue pills. A doctor later told Eminem those pills were actually methadone.

“[Elton] had a substance-abuse problem in the past. So when I first wanted to get sober, I called him, because he’s somebody in the business who can relate to the lifestyle and how hectic things can be,” Eminem told a Detroit newspaper last year. “He understands, like, the pressure and any other reasons that you wanna come up with for doing drugs.”

The two first met at the 2001 Grammys, becoming good friends despite several Eminem songs that had been criticized as homophobic. Elton also battled drugs and booze throughout his career but says he has been sober since the ’80s. He says he has counseled other celebrity addicts, including the late Michael Jackson, but says he doesn’t force his advice on anyone.

“I’m there if people want my help,” he said in the BBC interview that aired Saturday. “If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there’s no point advising people if they don’t want to do it.”

Glad to see that Eminem is getting his life together. No time for drugs when you have children depending on you. I have alot more respect for Elton John and the help that he’s giving him now. Think maybe someone should slip him Lindsay Lohan’s number?

Andre Agassi Admits Crystal Meth Use

Eight-time tennis grand slam winner Andre Agassi has admitted using crystal meth and lying to men’s governing body to escape a ban in the sport in his new memoir titled “Open.” People magazine and Sports Illustrated will run pieces this week from the book ahead of its November 9th release date, but a few details have already been leaked, such as being introduced to the drug by his then-assistant when he was having doubts about his upcoming marriage to Brooke Shields.

Per Lincoln Tribune:

“Slim dumps a small pile of powder on the coffee table. He cuts it, snorts it. He cuts it again. I snort some. I ease back on the couch and consider the Rubicon I’ve just crossed,” Agassi, now 39, was quoted as saying. “There is a moment of regret, followed by vast sadness. Then comes a tidal wave of euphoria that sweeps away every negative thought in my head. I’ve never felt so alive, so hopeful — and I’ve never felt such energy.”

Agassi goes on to talk about a time in 1997 when he received a phone call from the doctor working for the ATP, informing him that he failed a drug test for the class 2 recreational drug which would have guaranteed him a 3-month ban. Thinking quickly, he came up with a lie saying he accidentally drank out of a glass spiked with the drug that belonged to his drug-addicted assistant.

Per Lincoln Tribune:

“My name, my career, everything is now on the line. Whatever I’ve achieved, whatever I’ve worked for, might soon mean nothing. Days later I sit in a hard-backed chair, a legal pad in my lap, and write a letter to the ATP. It’s filled with lies interwoven with bits of truth,” Agassi said. “I feel ashamed, of course. I promise myself that this lie is the end of it,” Agassi recalls saying.

Interesting enough, the sports controlling body took his word for it and never made an investigation into Agassi or his claims. You can bet they will most likely now be pressed into the reasons why they accepted his explanation without questions. In addition to drug use, “Open” also talks about his hair loss, troubled marriage to Shields, and eventually meeting his current wife Steffi Graf. Uncool, Andre. Very uncool. I’m really disappointed that he would choose to sell out like this. If he really wanted to share the meth story to help people or whatever reason he gives, he didn’t have to do it in effort to make a profit. It’s trashy.

Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil Cross the Crack Beams…Again

Ever hear the saying “two steps forward, three steps back?”…. Well, for Amy Winehouse its more like two steps forward, and a gigantic catapulting leap back! Amy and her ex-husband/drug pusher Blake Fielder-Civil are back together despite reports of Blake dating a stripper and Amy dating George Foreman’s son. While they technically may be divorced, the worlds most self-destructive couple have updated their social networking site Facebook saying they are “married” again. Oh for the love of all things holy…. Pals are saying the couple are ‘definitely’ back together, keeping in touch via a Facebook profile for Amy’s cat.

Per The Sun:

“Can’t argue with true love. What’s the point?” says Blake in a Facebook post.

Blakes post prompted dozens of the couple’s friends to write messages of congratulations on the site. The two had ended their marriage when Blake divorced Winehouse on grounds of infidelity, after Blake went back to prison and after Amy trashed herself almost beyond recognition. But the two kept in touch and Winehouse’s father Mitch even caught them in bed together. Her father was so upset that he was rumored to have even faked a heart attack to make Amy realize how much he disapproves of their relationship.

Per Newser:

“Amy’s family, especially Mitch, will be furious,” a source says. “They have been so happy with her progress and are terrified that if she gets back together with Blake she will fall back into drugs again.”

To me this seems about as sensible as giving Kanye West a mirror and a microphone! Amy has even been photographed several times in the last two weeks wearing a pink shirt embroidered with the words ‘Blake’s Girl’. The reunion is the latest in a series of ups and downs for the couple, who are both recovering from heroin and crack addictions. Won’t be too long until their rollercoaster romance takes another plunge, I’m sure. They have secretly married once before, could they have really done it again?

Michael Lohan & NeNe Leakes War Of Words

Another war of words erupted on “The Insider” last night, this time between attention seeker Michael Lohan and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes.

Lohan has been speaking out to the media alot lately, saying that he wants to petition for his daughter’s Lindsay Lohans‘ conservatorship because he believes she is addicted to prescription drugs. Lohan appeared via satellite on the show, and Leakes barely let Lohan have a chance to defend himself for his public actions, though that still didn’t stop him from lashing back at her. She accused him of being a sell-out parent who is trying to make money on his daughter, calling him things like a “toxic parrot” and “manipulator,” but he denied the claims.

Per NY Daily News:

“I believe you’re just trying to make money off of Lindsay,” Leakes said. “You’re always in the press.”

Lohan responded, saying he hasn’t made any money off of his daughter and that he’s the only one trying to help her.

“I’m not going see my daughter die!” he said. “You have Michael Jackson, you had Heath Ledger, Adam Goldstein. You can go back to John Belushi, Anna Nicole Smith, and even Elvis Presley. It was prescription drugs that killed these people. I’m not going watch my daughter die.”

Undeterred, Leakes continued, threatening him physically. “Do not make me come after you,” she warned. “I will eat you alive.”

“Do something worthwhile and promote Nutri-System,” says Lohan. “Give your chair a break and move your fat a** outta there!”

Guess we know now where Lindsay gets her “Oh, well she’s fat” comebacks from. Leakes then takes it another step farther, telling Lohan to ‘go hang out with Jon Gosselin.’ Bah-Zing! Their war of the words ended with Lohan taking off his mic and leaving his chair, abruptly ending the interview. Come on now… we’re all adults here, aren’t we?

It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Daddy Lohan, who is reportedly about to get served with a restraining order by Lindsay. This comes after he made it public knowledge that he hoped stage an intervention for her whose alarming appearance and erratic behavior has left him sure she’s been popping pills and drinking in excess. Lindsay didn’t appreciate her father’s heart-to-heart with the tabloids and obviously Leakes didn’t either! But in the end, its Papa Lohan who looks like the bigger man, as he’s issued an apology to Ms. Leakes.

Per The Insider:

“I apologize to the producers of ["The Insider"], the viewers and even Miss Leakes for coming back at her, for her attack on me, in the inappropriate manner I did. I do however wish I had known she was on the panel because then I would have known what I was in for and I would have handled things differently. To begin with, she may have children, but none in a crisis situation. Second, for her to call me a broke a** when I am not, but she had a house in foreclosure and 2 cars repoed [sic], I would have addressed that as well. This show was about helping my daughter and owning up to my part of her life and why I have taken these measures. Not a personal attack on Lindsay or me. I am sorry for my conduct and I hope Ms. Leakes is for hers.”

Take this with a grain of salt – Knowing him, its just another way to keep his name floating about. Pick up on the cheap shots in his so-called apology? Check out the video above for your LOL’s of the day!
