Lindsay Lohan NOT Dropped from Label

Linday Lohan NOT Dropped from Label - 4

Lindsay Lohan might not be able to afford her nose candy much longer since reports have surfaced of her being dropped by her record label. The rumor states that after working for an year and a half on her album, Lindsay has been dropped by Casablanca Records. According to her reps, this isn’t true. Gossip Cop also states that reps for the label have also called crap on the drop story.

And a rep for Universal Music, the parent company of Casablanca, says she’s still on the Casablanca label, with distribution through Universal.

The struggling actress and wanna be fashion VIP is reportedly having trouble finding work that pays, as it has also been revealed that her high-profile work for the Ungaro fashion house has been mostly for clothing. While she reportedly paid for both her stay in Paris as well as her flight, she did manage to snatch about $100,000 worth of clothes in the process.

Per NYMag:

Though last week it was reported that Lindsay is working at Ungaro for free clothes alone, Moufarrige says she’s getting paid: Moufarrige won’t reveal her pay package, saying only that it is “quite enough. It’s expensive”. Given her unpredictability, it is also a risk. Her fragility, says Moufarrige, “has been factored in”. It needs to be.

However, sources have reported that Lindsay has been followed around by a camera crew lately, being followed by a camera crew in Paris at the Vogue party and later when she hit a ton of clubs around town. This is leading many to believe that she’s taken the reality TV high-road, just like many other washed-up, worn-out celebs have. There’s always plan B Lindsay – Sell your Ungaro clothes on ebay for the quick and easy buck. Those pills don’t buy themselves!

Twilight Saga: New Moon Soundtrack and New Movie Stills – Photos

new-moon-movie-stills-pic-11

All good things come to those who wait? Naaaahhhhh. The “New Moon” soundtrack was set to be released next Tuesday, but now it’s become one of the rare albums to have its release date pushed up. Summit Entertainment issued a release saying “due to overwhelming and unprecedented demand,” the soundtrack will come out this Friday!

Adding to the great news, Myspace announced earlier this week that starting yesterday the site will premiere songs from the album on its official New Moon profile, allowing fans to listen to all 15 tracks in their entirety legally. Led by Death Cab for Cutie’s with the official song for the movie titled “Meet Me on the Equinox“, the soundtrack album is made up solely of “original and exclusive” songs. Muse, who contributed to the first movies soundtrack, is making a return with another track titled “I Belong to You (New Moon)“. The line-up also include Thom Yorke, The Killers, and OK Go. Regardless of your level of affection for vampires who sparkle, the album has been getting pretty decent reviews and may be worth paying attention to even if you’re not swept into the whole “Twilight” hysteria. “New Moon” will open on November 20th, giving us fan enough time to reread the book with the soundtrack blaring in the background. Twi-hards, you now have 35 days from today to get this done!

In other related news, the official soundtrack for the first movie in the franchise, “Twilight.” is nominated in the category for favorite soundtrack at this years AMA’s, alongside the soundtracks for “Hannah Montana: The Movie” and “Hannah Montana 3.” If you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, some of the Twilight soundtrack artist include Paramore

with the movies official song “Decode“, Robert Pattinson, and Muse - just to name a few. The awards show will take place on ABC on November 22nd, just two days after The “Twilight Saga: New Moon” movie is released, and voting is still ongoing.

This is one franchise that has no signs of slowing down. “Overwhelming and unprecedented demand” is every movie exec’s dream. So be prepared for a few more years of Robert Pattinson and sparkling vampires. You have been warned.

New Music Friday – Dead By Sunrise

Out Of Ashes,” the debut from the side project of Linkin Park’s frontman Chester Bennington’s new band, is here. Dead by Sunrise started to form in 2005 while Bennington was writing songs for Linkin Park’s “Minutes to Midnight” Album. The band also features Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh (from Orgy/Julien-K), bassist Brandon Belsky, drummer Elias Anda (also from Julien-K), and keyboardist Anthony Valcic.

Per Dead By Sunrise:

“I came up with a few songs that felt and sounded really good, but I knew they weren’t right stylistically for Linkin Park. They were darker and moodier than anything I’d come up with for the band. So I decided to work on them on my own rather than turn them over and have them transformed into Linkin Park tracks,” says Bennington.

The band’s name, which was previously “Snow White Tan,” reflects the time during the album’s recording in which the band was living a ‘really self destructive lifestyle’ and weren’t sure they were going to make it to the next day. Bennington says the albums’ name is from ‘coming out of that self-destructive path and rising from the ashes.’ Back on May 10, 2008, the band performed three songs, including the song “Morning After,” at the 13th anniversary party for Club Tattoo in Arizona. The song was written by Bennington and originally performed on December 9, 2001 at the Live in Berlin concert. This was the first time that he had officially performed the song under a new name.

Recording of the band’s debut album began in July 2008 after touring for Linkin Park had finished. “Crawl Back In” is the first official single off the album, followed by “Let Down.” Dead by Sunrise’s MySpace page is featuring the video for the band’s first single, and will hold an exclusive listening party for its debut album on their page this week. Fans will be able to stream the album, which will be released by on October 13th, in its entirety on Myspace from October 8th through the 10th. MySpace will direct users to the listening party via links on both the site’s homepage and its music page. They are scheduled to perform at The Gramercy Theatre in New York City on October 14th, and at the Roxy in Los Angeles on October 19th. You can watch the video for the song “Crawl Back In” above. New Music Friday – This Providence

Get ready HWDamers — You are now being thrusted into a new weekly feature called “New Music Friday” where we here at HWD bring you kittens some new music by your favorite artists and hopefully broaden your horizon on some musicians you may not have had the pleasure of being introduced to yet. The first weeks edition focuses on a band called “This Providence.” This Seattle rock band has proved how versatile they’ve become from spending the past two years on the road and refining their craft – their band’s inventive brand of indie rock – by following up their 2006 self-titled “Fueled By Ramen” with their new album “Who Are You Now?” released in March. Originally formed in Seattle back in 2003 by Australian-born vocalist Daniel Young and guitarist Gavin Phillips, the band’s current lineup also features bassist David Blaise and drummer Andy Horst. Their new album is a collection of extremely varied rock songs with influence from bands such as The Cure and The Beatles. It showcases This Providence’s rock edge as much as it does their stripped-down sensibilities.

Per This Providence:

“We took a long time off the road before going into the studio because we wanted to write songs that were dripping with creativity and you can’t rush that,” Young explains, “I think the end result is much stronger because of that… I’m really proud of the way my lyrics turned out this time around. It’s definitely the best work I’ve ever done.”

Formerly known as “Sunday Best,” the have toured with other bands such as Cute Is What We Aim For, Paramore, All Time Low, The Hush Sound, Daphne Loves Derby, Relient K, House of Heroes, Ludo and Brighten. They have just finished The Warped Tour 2009, and are now currently on tour with headliner Cartel, alongside The Summer Set, The Dares and Runner Runner. They have spent most of 2009 on the road making sure they’re heard by as many people as possible. While the album seems to take on an intensely personal vibe, it’s very apparent that anyone who’s ever experienced love or loss can relate to songs like “Selfish” or “Somebody To Talk To” on an emotional level. The first single “Letdown” off their new ablum is in stores and online now! You can watch the video for the song above. HWDamers – don’t be shy! Let us know what you think!

Joe Simpson’s Plans to Desecrate Michael Jackson’s Legacy

ashlee-simpson-to-cover-michael-jackson

Ugh. It’s is no surprise that I have ill feelings towards Papa Joe Simpson. When he isn’t pretending to be holy, he’s actively pimping his daughters, Jessica and Ashlee, by having them perform at high-class affairs like chili cook-offs. The man uses spray-tanner and has caps. He’s a d-bag. That’s just my opinion though. However, once you read about his latest plan, you may have to agree with me.

According to Page Six, Papa Joe’s latest plan involves relaunching daughter Ashlee’s lip-syncing and Irish-jig dancing career. And what better way to do that then using the death of pop icon Michael Jackson as a springboard?

Via Page Six:

“[We hear that] Joe Simpson, never one to miss an opportunity, is trying to revive Ashlee Simpson’s record career by pitching a concept album on which Ashlee would record songs of Michael Jackson.”

Ashlee singing Michael Jackson? “Billie Jean” done in her raspy, digitally enhanced, overly emo voice? Gross. No thank you.

Twittering Your Love: Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson Back Together-Miley Cyrus Dumps Justin Gaston

lindsay-lohan-stalking-sam-in-london-1

Twitter. It’s pretty much strong>Facebook for people with ADD. You can change your mind every two seconds. You can let people know how you’re doing, announce that you’ve had a baby (like Lance Armstrong did here), you can let the world know that you and your lesbian lover who placed a restraining order on you are back together (maybe…and with one of those annoying semi-colon happy faces), and you inform the world that you are your jailbait girlfriend have called it quits…because distance is like, so hard and stuff.

Lindsay Lohan Twittered Monday that she was leaving London with her favorite person and that she had great news to share…maybe. Shortly thereafter, Lohan was snapped by the paparazzi that she called, floundering around Heathrow airport with former flame Samantha Ronson.

Via People:

“They haven’t started fighting yet, but they are back together as far as Lindsay is concerned. Lindsay has been doing so much better and has been giving Sam her space. She is really dedicated to making it work.”

So much better than snorting blow out of a belly-button while flashing the hidden camera taping you your lady-bits? I guess violating a restraining order is slightly better than that.

Not to be outdone in Twitterverse, everyone’s favorite DUI waiting to happen, Miley Cyrus used her Twitter to announce her sorrow at having to leave 20 year-old boyfriend Justin Gaston behind in LA as she travels to Georgia to film the movie “The Last Song”. Gaston, like a good man in need of a meal ticket, simultaneously Twittered his great sadness at Cyrus’ departure.

However, Twitter is fickle, kittens. It seems that Miley Twittered just this past Saturday that she and former boyfriend Nick Jonas were hanging out together.

Via E!

“I’m in a dark theater ‘writing’ a song with nick j who is rockin a faded eggplant shirt! :)

Again with the colon happy face. Knock it off kids. I doubt Gaston was colon-face happy to read that Nick’s shirt was “rockin”. Also, since when does Miley write songs? As for Sam and Lindsay…I’d watching out for boiling bunnies on the stove circa “Fatal Attraction.” Apparently Twitter also makes you delusional. Speaking of which, are you following Hollywood Dame?

American Idol Controversy

It seems like every year on American Idol, the losing finalists fans try to find a way to start up some sort of controversy about why their favorite lost. This year apparently is no different.

The New York Times is reporting that AT&T may have “swayed” the voting during the finals of American Idol by hosting two hometown parties for fans of winner Kris Allen, during which they were showed how to send ten times the allowed number of text votes at a time. Since there appears to be no similar efforts to provide free texting services to supporters of Adam Lambert, his fans are calling foul on the whole situation and claiming irregularities in the competition’s voting.

Per NY Times:

“In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested.” – Official statement from AT&T.

Per USA Today:

“FOX and the producers of American Idol are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.” – Official statement from FremantleMedia North America, 19 Entertainment and FOX Broadcasting Company

Also according to the NY Times, the show broadcasts an on-screen statement at the end of each episode warning that blocks of votes cast using “technical enhancements” that unfairly influence the outcome of voting can be thrown out. With almost 100 million votes cast in total, it seems doubtful to me that what AT&T did with a few little parties and a couple dozen phones could have had that much of an effect on the result. Glam-bert fans need to just sit down and knock off the whining and crying. This still probably didn’t have any impact on a vote that was reportedly not even close anyway. Your boy lost, suck it up and move on.

Being runner up might not be such a bad thing for Lambert anyways. He is reportedly considering a stint as the new frontman for Queen but he also wants to work on his own album. His dream scenario would be to do both!

Per AP News:

“How do you say no to being in Queen?” said Lambert. “I mean, that’s unbelievable. But at the same time, I do have my own thing to do right now, and that’s my goal. So if I could, I would try to do both. That’s the honest question. I would try to do both. I would love to perform with them anytime they wanted me to but I also have my record to do. So, we’ll see… My record will be kind of a rock-pop-electronic-dance thing. I don’t know how to describe it. I think it’s gonna take on a life of its own, as far as genre goes. There’s a way to take the glam rock of the ’70s and the classic rock of the ’70s and kind of modernize it. … I want it to be produced in a very very current, almost futuristic, way.”

Among the people he’d like to work with include Madonna, Lady GaGa, and Katy Perry. Something tells me 27-year-old California native Adam Lambert is here to stay for quite some time.

Chris Brown Sued For Another Alledged Beating

Chris Brown likes it rough. Not only is the singer/sometimes supposed actor still in hot water over allegedly (I can’t believe I still have to preface with that word) beating up on his one time girlfriend, Rihanna, he is now being sued for using a photog as a punching bag.

According to the paparazzo, he was shooting some pics of Brown back in March at an LA Fitness center when Brown’s bodyguards spotted him and told him to stop. As he was trying to leave, one of the center’s employees blocked the exit and that’s when the beat-down commenced.

Via TMZ:

“The photog says he then fell down a stairwell, which allowed the bodyguards to catch up with him — where they, ‘picked him up by his shorts and physically assaulted him.’”

This comes only one day after Brown posted a YouTube video of himself with his friend, um, BowWow (no longer, Lil’) claiming that he “isn’t a monster.”

All I got from this video is that Bow Wow’s job is merely to repeat everything Brown says, and that Brown really thinks you should buy his next album. Only the classiest singers head to YouTube for promotion, right?

Ashanti Dropped From Record Label

If you listened to music about four years ago, you may remember a singer named Ashanti. She had a few songs of her own, sold a few albums. Most importantly, she started showing up with rappers like Fat Joe and Ja Rule on their songs. Coattails…gotta love them.

However, you probably haven’t heard of her recently. That’s likely due to the fact that her last album, ‘The Declaration’, failed to bring in the numbers that her earlier work did. The last time I heard of her was when she spent a couple months making out with Jesse Metcalf for the flick “John Tucker Must Die”, which believe it or not, I love.

Her lack of appeal hasn’t gone unnoticed by her boss, Irv Gotti-label head for The Inc. (formerly Murder Inc. Records). He announced recently that Ashanti and her label are parting ways.

Via MTV News:

“The relationship has run its course. The chemistry of what’s needed — we’re in two totally different places. You’re talking to somebody that took her and shaped and molded her and put her out there for the world, and it blew up. We [hold the record] for the [fastest] selling debut by a female R&B artist — 503 [thousand]. We did it! My views and philosophies and her views and philosophies are not meeting up.”

This is bad news for Ashanti’s esthetician who was likely making nice cash keeping those sideburns of hers under control.

On the bright side, Ashanti is rumored to have turned down a scholarship to Yale in order to pursue her music career. Maybe they’ll reconsider reinstating it?
