Mike Tyson Arrested On Battery Charges

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor battery after laying into a photographer at LAX last night who got a little too close for his comfort. Tyson was traveling with his 10-month-old daughter and his wife, and his representative claims that Tyson acted in defense against an “overly aggressive” photographer in order to protect his daughter after the photographer struck him in an apparent attempt to provoke him.

Per LA Times:

“Mike acted in self-defense as a father protecting his child,” said Tyson’s spokeswoman Tammy Brook.

The photographer claims that Tyson punched him in the face and tried to take his camera. Police arrested Tyson and photographer Tony Echevarria, who was also booked for misdemeanor battery after the incident. After Echevarria hit the ground, he got up and walked away leaving a trail of blood on the floor from a minor cut to the forehead. While Tyson was taken from the scene in a squad car, an ambulance was called for Echevarria, who was taken to a local hospital for treatment receiving 5 stitches. Both Tyson and Echevarria reportedly performed citizen’s arrests on eachother and want to press charges against each other, but there seems to be a lot of different versions of what happened.

“There’s a lot of different versions to the story,” Sgt. Jim Holcomb said.

Echeverria’s camera was booked as evidence and police also were checking if there was any surveillance video of the incident. Tyson was cooperative as he waited in a holding cell at the airport police station, with bail being set at $20,000. Both men were released without any restrictions and free to go wherever they want. Due to the incident, Tyson could be facing prison time if charges are filed because it would be a violation of his probation in Arizona. Tyson was arrested on felony cocaine possession and misdemeanor DUI charges there in 2007. He was given three years probation and per the terms of that probation, could not violate any laws. If charges are filed against Tyson, he could be looking towards at least 2-and-a-half years in State Prison.

If everything is confirmed, this will be Tyson’s 45th victory by knockout. Echevarria got off easy. He may have gotten a cut to the forehead, but at least he didn’t get his ear bitten off.

It’s about time the justice system did something to this creep. Anna Nicole Smith’s longtime lawyer and short-time husband Howard K. Stern has was arrested in Los Angeles yesterday for allegedly conspiring to fuel an addict with prescription drugs. The addict in question was Anna Nicole Smith.

Stern was arrested along with two of Smith’s “doctors”, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich. All three have been charged with a total of eight felonies.

Via TMZ.com:

“According to the L.A. County D.A., the conspiracy counts allege the three defendants conspired to furnish controlled substances to Smith between July, 2004 and January 2007.”

A prescription for methadone written by Kapoor to an alias often used by Anna Nicole, was given date a mere 13 days prior to the birth of Smith’s daughter with Larry Birkhead, Dannilynne.

Though our hearts here at Hollywood Dame are shriveled and cold, what little feeling we do have goes out to those who really loved Anna Nicole.

With any luck, Stern can hire Bobby Trendy to decorate is 8 X 8 cell. I hear he’s looking for work.

Britney Spears’ Ex, Adnan Ghalib, Charged With Three Felonies

Will the Britney Spears drama ever end? I hope not! Now, Britney’s former boytoy and paparazzo Adnan Ghalib has been charged with felony hit-and-run, battery, and assult with a deadly weapon for hitting a process server with his car. OUCH!

The process server was at Ghalib’s residence in Encino, CA to present Ghalib with a restraining order issued by Spears’ family. Brit’s father, Jamie Spears, is likely behind the restraining order as he has been trying to clean-up the mess Britney created after her infamous meltdown months last year.

Per E! Online:

“Ghalib started to drive toward the [process server], who, in order to avoid being pinned against a garbage truck, jumped onto the hood of Ghalib’s Mercedes. Ghalib swerved and the alleged victim fell off, breaking his wrist and sustaining other injuries. The defendant then drove away without stopping.”

Thank goodness! I thought jumping on the hood of someone’s car might be against the law, but now that I know better, some of those hunky Hollwood types better look out. I will be sprawled on the hood of your car faster than you can say ‘restaining order’.

Prosecuters have asked that Ghalib’s bail be set at $110,000. I guess asking Britney for a loan is out of the question. Ghalib also faces up to seven years in the slammer if convicted. Don’t worry Adnan, a well-gelled man like yourself will make plenty of friends in prison.

Despite his efforts, Ghalib has been ordered to stay at least 500 yards away from Spears. The restraining order is in full effect through tomorrow, when both parties are due in court.
