Boy George revealed in 1995 that Gavin Rossdale had a gay lover named Marilyn. He wrote a book called “Take it Like a Man” which highlighted Gavin and Marilyn’s past relationship. Rossdale used to be a hard rocking party boy in the underground circuits of London in the 80’s. This is where he met Marilyn and formed a close bond. After the book was released and Gavin’s secret was aired out, both he and his lover denied the story for the sake of his growing career and popularity. Unable to hold the truth any longer, Marilyn is now confirming he and the Bush front man were in love.

Per In Touch:

“He was just becoming successful in America,” Marilyn explains. “I agreed to lie against every grain of my being. We were together five years,” Marilyn says. “But it felt like 40.He was the love of my life.”

This isn’t the first time he voluntarily spilled the beans on his realtionship with Gavin. In a monthly fan letter announcing his autobiography.

Here is the bit of the letter:

“please weep not for me ( although you CAN shed a few tears over
my non-exsistant love life, of which 20 years celibacy is REALLY
starting to get on my ****ing t*ts!!) THOUGHT I had a really good
**** partner lined up ( well you CAN’T “blame” me, after the “love”
aspects of having someone like Gavin , which is the main reason
I’ve not even been near the THOUGHT of anything along those kind of
lines since) It’s amazing how very simular old gwen looks like me
huh?.”

I adore Gwen and Gavin. They are on my invite list to my fantasy dinner party along with Anderson Cooper and Tim Gunn. So gay lover or no gay lover…I still think they are top notch. Plus it is pretty obvious dude is selling his luvah down the river for some press and cash.
