So far, we know there will be a fountain of youth, Blackbeard, and a lady pirate who will give Jack Sparrow a run for his doubloons. Now the most recent news out for the fourth film in the series, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” is the addition of French model/actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey.
Per MTV:
French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey will star as Syrena, a mermaid who encounters Johnny Depp’s character Captain Jack Sparrow.
She will star alongside Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Geoffrey Rush, and Depp as Captain Sparrow sets out on the hunt for the legendary elusive fountain of youth. She was cast in the role after Disney received a lot of buzz about the casting requirements, calling for actresses who, among other things, ‘must have real breasts.’ A rising star in her native France, this will be Berges-Frisbey’s American debut. Her previous French films include family drama “Un Barrage Contre Le Pacifique” and the soon to be released “Bruc.” She has also appeared onstage at the Theatre Marigny in a production of Peter Shaffer’s “Equus.” The film is due to begin shooting in June in Hawaii, Los Angeles, and Britain. It is due out in theaters in May 2011.
