Michael Sheen Cast as Aro Volturi in ‘New Moon’ – Photos

It was reported Sunday that British actor Michael Sheen has landed the role of Aro in the “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon”. Sheen, who is best known for his roles as Tony Blair in “The Queen” and David Frost in “Frost/Nixon” was eagerly pursued by “New Moon” director Chris Weitz.

Via The Daily Mail:

“Sheen, 40, who made his name with uncannily realistic portrayals of well-known figures in Oscar-winning films…will get his biggest pay [check] yet, a reported £5 million, to star in ‘New Moon’.”

This comes on the cusp of further “New Moon” casting updates. Read about the actors playing the Wolf Pack here and the actress chosen to play Emily (and photos from the “New Moon” set) by clicking here.

If you don’t know Sheen from his award winning movies, you may know him as Lucian, the Lycan (or as Twilighters would say, werewolf) in the “Underworld” films. It was while making “Underworld” that Sheen met, fell in love with, and knocked-up actress Kate Beckinsale. They had a short romance before she dropped Sheen for “Underworld” director Len Wiseman. The two have a daughter.

For those of you out there who aren’t British, £5 million is a little over $7 million US. “New Moon” stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will each earn a reported $10 million. Though no information has been released regarding earnings for Taylor Lautner, whose role in “New Moon” is significantly greater than that of Sheen’s, we can assume it is less than $7 million.

What do you think Twilighters? Is Summit paying Sheen too much for such a small role? Or does he deserve the money due to his acting acclaim and notoriety?

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart ‘New Moon’ Set Photos And Casting Update

A mere two days after I leave the city of Vancouver, all the “New Moon” stuff goes down. First, according to her own Myspace page, singer/actress Tinsel Korey has landed the role of Emily in the “Twilight” sequel. Take this for what it is worth. You can see photos and brief bios of the fellow ‘New Moon’ cast by clicking here. According to my personal Myspace page I am 22 and in caught in a love triangle with Robert Pattinson and David Beckham.

Speaking of Sparklepants, though I didn’t have the pleasure of seeing him on the streets of Vancouver (wipes away a tear), Lainey Gossip is once again on top of things and has posted new pictures from the set of “New Moon.” The pics show our favorite English export acting out a scene with co-star Kristen Stewart. The pics also give us our first glimpses of Bella’s high school friends: Mike, Angela, and everyone’s favorite frenemy Jessica (played by Mike Welch, Christian Serratos, and Anna Kendrick respectively).

According to Lainey Gossip:

“About this scene – supposedly in the parking lot of the school and there’s an intimate moment between Bella and Edward. Or something.”

As for my trip to Vancouver, I didn’t go home empty handed. Though I did not get my chance to allow Sparklepants to fall in love with me, I did have the pleasure of running into Edi Gathegi and Jackson Rathbone in the lobby of their hotel (what I was doing there will remain off the record). After exchanging smiles with both gentlemen, I freaked internally and watched them get on the elevator. I was pretty pathetic. And since I know you are curious: Edi is quite handsome and taller than expected, Jackson was nearly unrecognizable with his dark hair, but overall is very, very pretty. That’s the best word to describe him.

Dakota Fanning Confirmed for New Moon

I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before it was announced, but since filming starts this month, I was getting antsy on whether Dakota Fanning was going to play Jane in “New Moon“. And she is! Thanks to People, Summit Entertainment has confirmed this fun piece of information!

And the other good news is that all the flims are going to be done back to back. I knew about “Eclipse” being done right after “New Moon” but hadn’t heard about “Breaking Dawn” being put into the mix. This is good! This means Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart won’t be doing this series well into his 40′s. You know, unlike the “Harry Potter” franchise, whose stars are going to be 21 and older by the time it’s done. Good on Summit for learning from other’s mistakes.

Now! All we need is confirmation on who is playing Leah Clearwater!! I am ready!! Filming is starting soon! Common Summit, make another announcement!

New Moon Casting News

It’s not the major news, like who is going to play Leah Clearwater or anything like that, but still! The auditions that just occurred in Canada appear to be fruitful! According to Carrier Talent Management, one of their own has been cast in “New Moon“. His name is Bronson Pelletier, and apparently has a lead role:

Congratulations to BRONSON who scores a lead role in the highly anticipated “Twilight” feature film sequel “New Moon”. It’s rumored he will be co-staring with Dakota Fanning.

What lead role does someone have from First Nations descent that would act with Dakota Fanning? And is it even confirmed yet that Dakota is attached to the film? Pre-emptive much??

Pelletier has starred in many Canadian hits like “RenegadePress.com” and my personal favorite “Dinosapian”. LMAO! DINOSAPIAN! Oh Canadian televison shows, this might be the reason why I have never watched you. Not even “Degrassi” or “Corner Gas”. But I digress. Pelletier has even been nominated for award for his work, in 2007 he was nominated for a “Gemini Award” for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series. Thank goodness it was that and not Dinosapian!

Ok, I just found a trailer for Dinosapian–please watch and mock with me. The graphics are disturbingly horrific. Although Pelletier’s acting in it was stellar ;) *cries with laugher*
