‘Red Riding Hood’ Pictures and Trailer – See Them HERE

Last time I checked, “Red Riding Hood” was just another classic childrens’ story about a little girl, a picnic delivery to Grandma, and a wolf who when he’s not biting people’s limbs off or swallowing them whole, thinks he looks quite cute in a flowered nightie. Not exactly feature-length film material, but Catherine Hardwicke’s movie version of the classic fairy tale, which debuted its teaser trailer yesterday, seems to differ majorly from our childhood recollection.

Per FirstShowing:

In the dark retelling of the famous children’s tale, Amanda Seyfried stars as Valerie, a village girl torn between two loves. The threat of demons and werewolves further complicates the love triangle, along with a priest (Gary Oldman) obsessed with ridding his village of evil, and any townspeople hiding their own secrets and lies. Red Riding Hood was directed by Catherine Hardwicke (of Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown, The Nativity Story, Twilight) from a screenplay by David Johnson (of only Orphan). It also stars Shiloh Fernandez, Lukas Haas and Virginia Madsen. Warner Bros is bringing Red Riding Hood to theaters starting on March 11th, 2011.

The period thriller also includes Julie Christie and Billy Burke. The movie seems very dark, gothic, and more than a little raunchy – I can’t wait to see it!

Stephen Daldry A Candidate To Direct “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”

Another Oscar nominated director has been linked to direct the last films in the “Twilight” saga. English director Stephen Daldry has been approached to take the reins for “Breaking Dawn,” the last book in the ‘Twilight’ series.

Stephen Daldry

According to Los Angeles Times, other critically-acclaimed directors had been approached to tackle the maybe-two-part film. Among the names are Bill Condon, Gus Van Sant, and Sofia Coppola.

Like those three, there are not yet indications Daldry would actually take the gig, but the fact that Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the films, has reached out to him suggests where its intentions lie for the fourth film. Having already gone indie with Catherine Hardwicke, polished/commercial with Chris Weitz and genre auteur with David Slade for the franchise’s first three movies, Summit clearly wants a high-end prestige filmmaker to handle the fourth picture.

Daldry’s prior film credits include “The Hours,” “Billy Elliot” and “The Reader,” for which actress Kate Winslet won an Academy Award. Van Sant is considered a favorite among several “Twilight” castmembers, including Robert Pattinson and Peter Facinelli. Melissa Rosenberg, who adapted the previous ‘Twilight’ movies, will also write the script for ‘Breaking Dawn’. Once the script is finished, only then formal offers to directors will be made. As of yet, there’s no indication either way whether these directors are interested in the gig. The filming for what will likely be two films will probably take place this fall.

Edward Cullen/Robert Pattinson Hair Extensions for ‘Twilight’

early-version-of-edward-cullen-robert-pattinson-extensions

Oh am I so very thankful that this did not happen! “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke has revealed a little juicy tidbit: The original vision of Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen included a head of long, flowing hair. Yikes! (Larger, Readable Photo in the Gallery Below.)

Per MTV:

“I thought it would be cool if Rob had long, romantic hair,” Hardwicke told the gathered attendees. “So we put extensions on Rob and he just hated it. He sat there in the chair for eight hours and was like, ‘No.’”

Thankfully Rob was not thrilled with this idea, and firmly put his foot down having them removed the next day. But can you imagine how sexy it must have been to hear him do so in that British accent of his? This would have been quite the change from the “Twilight” book, as no where does it mention Edward having long flowing hair, and die-hard fans would have been upset with even the smallest change in their beloved Edward. Listen Catherine – don’t try to fix what isn’t broken!

Adam Lambert Auditions For ‘Twilight’ Saga?

adam-lambert-twilight

Dear Adam Lambert: Please, don’t ever, ever do this again. Sincerely, Dame Crista

It appears the American Idol runner-up spent too much time being held captive in Ryan Seacrest’s basement during his AI run. Now that he’s out and about, and out of a job, it appears that he wants to take a bite out of the Twilight franchise.

Via The New York Post:

“Snagging a role in the tween-tastic franchise seemed to be on the top of Adam’s agenda as he got up close and personal with ‘Twilight’ director Catherine Hardwicke at the Hollywood Life Awards, where he won Young Hollywood Artist of the Year.

It’s probably time someone inform Lambert that one needs bouffant hair to play a movie vampire these days and not a Tammy Faye Baker amount of eyeliner.

Robert Pattinson in GQ – Photos Plus Out Takes

Robert Pattinson is here. Hide your daughters!” – at least that’s what the cover says. Back in December, Robert Pattinson sat down with Alex Pappademas to give an interview for “GQ” Magazine.

The article is full of non-important ramblings from Sparklepants, but hey – it IS Robert Pattinson afterall. He could read the listing in the phonebooks and the magazine would still be guaranteed to sell! He talks about how the place he’s staying at in L.A. has a microwave, and that he’s never had a microwave before, and that he spends a lot of time looking for new things you can microwave. Even mentioning what he’s tried microwaving — frozen cheeseburgers from the grocery store. And a carrot.

Then he moves on to something a little bit more exciting: “Twilight.” He talks about how he almost quit acting after being fired from a London play after his “Harry Potter” gig. Pattinson was in L.A., crashing on his agents couch looking for what he called an “American Job.” Thats when “Twilight” came calling. Although Sparklepants had no clue about the frenzy he was about to get himself into. His biggest fear at the time? Forgetting how to do an American accent. He freaked out – taking a Valium to calm his nerves before his audition with Catherine Hardwicke.

Per Men.Style.Com Via GQ:

“It was the first time I’ve ever taken Valium,” he says after a second, perhaps realizing how this sounds. “A quarter. A quarter of a Valium. I tried to do it for another audition, and it just completely backfired—I was passing out.”

Pattinson says he tries not to go out if he can avoid it. He stays home, watches movies, microwaves. Mostly he reads about himself on the internet. According to what he reads online, he’s a very different person than who he really is. A creature of the night, eager to sink his teeth into anything female with a pulse. All not true he says, but reads them anyways out of a kind of masochistic narcissism. He reads the gossip blogs and the “Twilight” fan fiction, which he says is surprisingly hardcore and very well written. He even knows what the fake Robert Pattinson said on the fake Robert Pattinson Facebook page, claiming to have “nailed” Kirsten Stewart, his co-star in the “Twilight” movie.

“There’s literally not a single [true] story that could be written about me,” he says. “I never do anything… There’s this thing about my supposed girlfriend,” he says. “There’s this one girl who’s consistently mentioned. It’s like, ‘He’s dating this Brazilian model.’… There’s this thing about my supposed girlfriend… What’s her name—Annelyse. I’ve never met her.

“I mean—yeah,” he says. “I don’t see people. I don’t even have people’s phone numbers. I almost don’t want to have a girlfriend, in this environment.”

Sparklepants hasn’t shot anything new since “Twilight” wrapped. And he won’t, until he starts shooting the next movie in the “Twilight” franchise, “New Moon” which is due out in November. But in the meantime, he’ll show up as a young Salvador Dalí in movie called “Little Ashes“, and there are rumblings his movie “How To Be” will have a limited release in theaters soon. Pattinson is pretty sure the only reason “Little Ashes” is getting any kind of promotional push is that he’s in it.

“It’s nothing,” he says. “It would never have been released. I mean, that’s a terrible thing to say, but this was a movie where we didn’t even have stand-ins! We were scrambling, the entire time. We didn’t even have trailers.”

Pattinson hasn’t seen the finished version of “Little Ashes“, or any movie he’s been in since “Harry Potter,” including “Twilight.” He took his mother with him to the American premiere of the movie, squirming through the first ten minutes of it before bolting out the door to his car to have a full blown panic attack. He was ten minutes into the panic attack when he realized someone was filming him.

The issue is scheduled to go on sale on March 24, 2009. You can bet I’ll have my copy that day!

Chris Weitz Will Not Direct “Eclipse”

Holy “Twilight” drama Batman! Just when we thought the big news surrounding the next installment of the “Twilight Saga” was the release of the art and official title, Summit Entertainment drops another bombshell on the Twi-hards!

According to a source close to the production company, “New Moon” director Chris Weitz will not direct the third installment of the saga, “Eclipse”. Will the drama around these movies never end? Now I understand why Robert Pattinson looks so depressed in his paparazzi pictures and why Kristen Stewart spends her free time smoking down on her front porch.

Via EW.com:

“Because ‘New Moon’, which Weitz is helming, and ‘Eclipse’ are due to be released so close together (on Nov. 20, 2009, and June 30, 2010, respectively), Weitz will be in post-production on ‘New Moon’ at the same time that ‘Eclipse’ will be shooting.”

When did I miss the release date for the third movie? It must have been while I was finding the nipple pictures of Sparklepants. Darn it! I thought I was on top of things when it came to the “Twilight Saga.”

This also means that the two movies will not be shot back-to-back which had previously been reported. According to the source, there will be a brief gap in between the shooting of the two films. Hopefully, the gap will be long enough for a few of the cast members to complete stints in rehab and for Rob’s hair to grow back after he shaves it off again.

Who do you think should direct the third movie? Should they bring Catherine Hardwicke back?

Robert Pattinson And Kristen Stewart Entertainment Weekly – Photos

Calling all Twi-hards! I am sure all you “Twilight” fans are well aware that Little, Brown and Co. are releasing Catherine Hardwick’s Twilight: A Director’s Notebook” on March 17, just four short days away from the release of the film on DVD.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, the good people at Entertainment Weekly have been nice enough to put our favorite movie vampire (and my personal love slave) Robert Pattinson on next week’s cover. Wait! Before your panties catch fire, I must warn you that Kristen Stewart is also on the cover…and the picture is old…and Sparklepants is fully dressed. Buyers beware.

However, the publisher of the “Director’s Notebook” was nice enough to release two pages from the book to here via Entertainment Weekly.

I must admit, it looks pretty cool. I am a sucker for anything “Twilight” related, not to mention anything Robert Pattinson related. This inevitably means I will be hitting up my local bookstore instead of my local bar on St. Patrick’s Day this year. Is this what it’s come to? Some people need 12 steps to cure their drinking problem; I apparently need only the promise of unseen pictures of Robert Pattinson. The man is a saint.
