They say ‘bad things come in threes’ – and they sure aren’t kidding! After the recent Ben Harper/Laura Dern divorce followed by the Courtney Cox/David Arquette separation, now comes the news that Christina Aguilera and husband of five years Jordan Bratman have also split! That makes the third sudden split of seemingly strong celebrity unions in five days.

Per TMZ:

The couple has been separated for a few months — just like Courtney Cox and David Arquette. There are no plans for divorce. But it’s yet another 5-year itch. Ben Harper just filed for divorce from Laura Dern after 5 years.

Aguilera and Bratman have been separated for a few months, sources say, after realizing that that “they were more like friends than husband and wife.” But they haven’t yet decided whether to make the split permanent. Although living apart, the couple have not filed for divorce yet and are said to be hopeful to make things work on behalf of their son, Max. They’ve been together since 2002 when Bratman worked as a producer on one of Aguilera’s albums.

Is this the leading edge of a trend? My theory – maybe once one couple announces that they are splitting, everybody follows suit to minimize the attention. After a couple splits in one week, it’s not surprising anymore.
