Jackson Rathbone Simply Gratuitous Photos

The brother of Edward Cullen, Jasper Cullen, is gaining momentum among the “Twilight” fans. While he isn’t pulling Robert Pattinson crowds yet, he does have following that is growing. Besides “New Moon” he is also set to appear in a Clive Barker horror film, “Dread” and a few other films. “The Last Airbender” will also feature Rathbone as Sokka. You might also recognize him from two episodes of “The O.C.” or the straight to video Tara Reid flick, “Senior Skip Day.”

He was born in Singapore and has lived in several different parts of the world that include Indonesia before settling in Texas. Jackson or Jay, as some call him, is close friends with his “Twilight” costar Ashley Greene. She is his onscreen love, Alice Cullen.

When he isn’t acting he plays in band “100 Monkeys” with friends Jerad Anderson and Ben Graupner. He already has a few fan sites dedicated to him as well.

Robert Pattinson Thinks Edward Cullen is Stalker

So I have been getting a flood of requests for more Robert Pattinson. Ol’ R.Patz Sparklepants has been in London for awhile and managing to remain low key. So I did a bit of digging and found an interview, pre-buzz cut, and he actually gave some interesting insights instead of PR pre-answered questions. While doing an interview he talked about how he still doesn’t understand the appeal of Edward Cullen.

Twilight” launched Pattinson into the hearts of tweens (and the slightly older demographic ) everywhere. He became an overnight explosion into the heartthrob category thanks to the character that girls are deeming “the perfect boyfriend.”

Reporter: Your character kinda freaked me out a bit.

Robert Pattinson: Oh Really?

Reporter: I loved him, but at the same time he’s kinda like domineering and a bit of stalker and controlling.

Pattinson: Absolutely! No one seems to see that.

The reporter goes on about goes on about his character and about the throngs of teenage girls throwing the underwear at him. He delves deeper into the vampire character and admits he is scary.

Pattinson: It’s weird. But girls always like that. It’s like Edward. If Edward was not a fictional character and if you just met him in reality, you know he’s one of those guys who’d be like an axe murderer. He’s like ultra polite and really formal. ‘Let me open the door let me carry the bags!’ Literally, like you could tell that he would just freak out one day and shoot someone.

There. You are going to have to wait until after the Golden Globes for more of your Sparklepants fix.

Taylor Lautner Confirmed as Jacob Black for ‘New Moon’

Twilight” author, Stephenie Meyer announced on her website this afternoon that Taylor Lautner, aka Jacob Black , will be back in “New Moon” to reprise his role.

“New Moon” from director Chris Weitz (Via E! Online):

I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.

The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

very best

Stephenie Meyer, Writer of the ‘Twilight ’ Saga:

I’d just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I’m truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I’m very much looking forward to seeing what he’s going to bring to Jacob’s character this year.

There has been much speculation the past few months whether or not 16 year old Lautner would be back in the role due to the transformation the character of Jacob goes through in the book. Black, who grows in character and over a foot in physical size. Rumors that the role would go to Michael Copon, the 26 year old “Scorpion King 2″ actor who himself was making a full force effort to land the high profile gig. But Taylor wasn’t going without a fight. He told MTV last month:

“I have been working hard preparing for the physicality that this role will require and can’t wait to get started with the filming of ‘New Moon.’ My job for ‘Twilight’ was to bring ‘Twilight’ Jacob to life—the friendly, happy-go-lucky little Jacob,” he said. ”My job for New Moon is completely different. I’ve been looking forward to that. I’ve been getting ready for it, and I can assure them I will follow through with that. “

And follow through he did. He has saved his role as the werewolf morphing rival to Robert Pattinson’s character, Edward Cullen.

Taylor Lautner Screen Test for ‘New Moon’ Role

The clock is ticking on the “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon.” Filming begins in March and the role of Jacob Black is still undecided.

The original cast member, Taylor Lautner, has been fighting to keep his place in the films. The character undergoes a major physical transformation and Summit Entertainment has been entertaining the idea of recasting the role. The worry is that Michael Copon is currently his biggest competition. However, fans are standing behind Lautner.

This week we will have answer according to EW. The screen writer for the films, Melissa Rosenberg confirmed today that:

”Jacob is a totally different character in New Moon. He’s a foot taller and huge — and he’s supposed to look 25. It’s really a question of whether or not the same actor can play the role. He has to play a romantic lead against Robert Pattinson, who’s a 22-year-old man. That’s a tall order.” Rosenberg is quick to add, however, that ”everyone would love to keep him. We all think he’s the loveliest person ever.”

As of now, Taylor has gained around 19 pounds and “promises to pack on 10 more” by the time filming starts. Currently insiders say that he is screen testing with Kristen Stewart, Bella Swan, for their chemistry level. This is a VERY good sign.

So keep your fingers crossed if you are pulling for Sharkboy!

‘New Moon’ Altered for Robert Pattinson

The next installment to the vampire saga that is on every hot list is going to be a labor of love. Rumors are running rampant that Summit is concerned about the film’s success. While there is little to no doubt the film will do well, concerns are focused on the monumental following Robert Pattinson is pulling.

The “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon,” focuses on Bella Swan’s best friend, Jacob Black. There is drama in the casting department for Jacob, but beyond that there is a lack of the heartthrob factor of Edward Cullen. Summit fears that the lack of Robert and his character in the film will leave the audience unhappy and won’t bring the numbers they are hoping for.

So spies are squealing that the plot and script are being altered to give Pattinson more screen time.

“They want to find a way to give Robert a bigger role than the book calls for without making major changes to the story line.”

Currently Taylor Lautner is still fighting for his role as Jacob, but Michael Copon is pulling ahead according to Life and Style.

Taylor Lautner Losing ‘New Moon’ Role

My friends over a Gossip Teen have reported new rumblings in the Taylor Lautner VS. Michael Copon for the role of Jacob Black. The “Twilight” sequel is getting off to a rough start. With a change up in the director’s change and rumors (which are complete crap) that Robert Pattinson has a drinking problem, “New Moon” will be a tumultuous project.

Taylor is desperately fighting to keep his role as Bella Swan’s best friend and second love interest, Jacob Black. However, Summit Entertainment is worried that he will not look old enough to carry off the transformation his character undergoes. Rumors that he has been replaced by Michael Copon to better fit the build of a 27 year old man have been running for months. The new director, Christopher Weitz is said to be leaning toward casting Copon as a replacement for Lautner.

Fans have voiced a very strong preference for Taylor. He has a large teen fan base that is a force to be reckoned with. But, as you might recall, when Robert Pattinson was cast as Edward Cullen fans of the “Twilight” saga were disappointed with the choice. Now ol’ Sparklepants is the new tween heroin.

But Lautner isn’t going quietly into the night. He has been packing on muscle and trying to shed his teenage physique. Taylor has had several meetings with Weitz to fight for his role as Jacob.
