Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has debuted her “Country Strong” music video. It’s the song accompanying the movie of the same name in which Paltrow plays Kelly Canter, an alcoholic country music singer on her comeback tour who finds her romantic life in upheaval and a young star trying to steal the limelight. The flick co-stars Tim McGraw as Paltrow’s husband/manager and Leighton Meester as a pageant queen turned country princess who joins them on the road.
Per People:
Luckily, Paltrow, 38, was able to rely on husband Chris Martin, 33, the Coldplay frontman, for some musical pointers. As she told Harper’s Bazaar this past spring: “He was so helpful, so sweet and encouraging.”
Today, the video for the movie’s title track hit the Internet. Featuring Paltrow, the clip is mostly shot in an abandoned warehouse with the actress’ band, while pieces from the movie are sprinkled in the gaps. “Country Strong” (the movie) will be out in limited release on Dec. 22nd before going country-wide on January 7th. The song itself is currently on the radio.
As much as I wanted to hate this (because I can’t stand either her or her husband) she really did a wonderful job, especially with no formal training. Even made me a bit interested in seeing the movie… A little bit.
