Emily Osment’s ‘Fight or Flight’ TShirt and Signed CD GIVEAWAY!

Though she got her start as an actress and is well known for her roles in Hannah Montana and the Spy Kids movie sequels, Emily Osment has been making music for almost as long as she’s been acting. An accomplished musician who has played guitar for years, Emily co-wrote all of the tracks on her Wind Up Records debut album Fight or Flight, in stores today. The album was produced by industry veteran Nellee Hooper, who has also worked with Gwen Stefani and No Doubt, U2, Bjork, and Madonna and includes the singles “Lovesick” and “Let’s Be Friends.”

Fight or Flight is the perfect blend of Emily’s classic rock influences and state-of-the-art electropop. “I don’t want to write songs that are just surface-deep,” explains Emily, whose own favorites growing up included Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Monkees, the Doors and Herman’s Hermits, as well as modern groups like The Pixies and Massive Attack. “I want to be in a world where I’m making the kind of music I want to make, and that’s what I’m doing right now,” she explains about the album. “I want to find a balance between Top 40 songs like ‘Lovesick’ and ‘Let’s Be Friends’ and more complex material like ‘Marisol’ and ‘You Get Me Through‘” – the latter of which was written by Emily for her mother, whom she credits with giving her her love of music. “I’ve given 1000% to making this album,” she says. “I won’t settle for mediocrity.”

Fight or Flight is available in stores and online; the iTunes version includes the exclusive bonus track “The Game (The Cycle) [acoustic].” For more information on the album visit OfficialEmilyOsment.com, and follow Emily on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates.

Miley Cyrus ‘Raunchy Routine’ – PICS and VIDEO

Miley Cyrus performed at the Rock in Rio music festival in Portugal Saturday wearing an outfit that proves she is eager to dump her cutesy Hannah Montana image.

Per Starpulse:

The singer/actress donned an olive-green leotard, skimpy leather jacket, and high-heeled shoes for the show, launching into a racy routine during which she stroked her thighs and frolicked with her hunky male dancers. Photographs of the gig showed Cyrus grinning with delight at the reaction of her fans – before backing away and standing towards the rear of the stage after her outfit threatened to slip.

I don’t see what the big deal is. Miley’s costume covers more than most swimsuits girls are wearing these days. It could be worse. I’ll bet it *will* be worse the instant she turns 18. If her new single “Can’t Be Tamed” is any indication, we should expect Miss Cyrus’ outfits to get more revealing as the time goes on. As for the “scandal” that everyone is alerting the church elders to….There is a NSFW warning on every ticket to her shows…It says “Miley Cyrus Live in Concert” in bold letters.

Hollywood Dame Exclusive Interview – The McClymonts

The McClymonts have arrived in the US with their Australian Gold debut album, “Chaos and Bright Lights,” an Executive Music Group release to come Summer of 2010. Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, the girls- Brooke, Sam and Mollie – had the privilege of flying from Australia to work with some of Nashville’s finest musicians and hit record producer Adam Anders (Music Producer for Fox TV’s Glee, Nick Lachey, Backstreet Boys, Shania Twain, Sinead O’Connor, Hannah Montana, Nick Jonas). All 12 tracks were co-written by the sisters with both Australian and American writers. The US debut single, “My Life Again,” was co-written with Adam Anders and hit producer/writer Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift). Smash hits include “My Life Again,” “Save Yourself,” and “Favorite Boyfriend of The Year,” which saw the girls walk away with 4 CMAA ‘Best New Talent‘ and ‘Group Of The Year’ Golden Guitar Awards three years in a row in Tamworth, Australia. The single “Finally Over Blue” tipped The Eagles 10-month run off the top of the Australian radio airplay charts.

Since the Australian release of their album, “Chaos and Bright Lights,” the media quickly recognized their increasing popularity. They appeared numerous times on popular Australian television shows including “Sunrise,” “The Today Show,” “Mornings with Kerri-Anne,” and the high-rated lifestyle show, “Getaway,” where the girls presented their hometown of Grafton (NSW) to the nation. They also appeared on the Australian Series, “Neighbors,” in 2008.

Recently, I had the chance to ask Brooke McClymont about things such as their music, goals, and pet-peeves. You can read about it below.

When did you first realize you had an interest in music, and what sparked that interest? How did you guys come together as a group?

I first realized i had an interest in music was when i was about 11 yrs old. I loved Dolly Parton and ABBA and would sing their songs non stop around the house. Sam and Mollie would follow me around and sing as my back up girls but we seriously formed the group in 2006.

How would you describe the sound of your music, and how do you feel your music is different from others in your genre?

Its always hard to describe your music, but I’ve always thought of it this way – if you were to put the 3 of our musical influences in a blending machine and turn on the button, shake it up, the contents you will pour out is us… The McClymonts. I guess the one thing that would stand us out from others in our genre is we are 3 sisters from Australia who sing 3 part harmony.

Who are some of your musical influences, and who are some artists you would love to work with?

I love Dolly Parton and ABBA as well as Heart, Roxette, alot of the 80′s music I grew up listening too as well as the older stuff in the 60′s and 70′s like the Eagles, Iris Dement and Don Williams. I would love to work with any of the above I’ve mentioned. They are all so talented, it would be a dream come true.

What are some of your short term and long term goals? What is your plans for promoting your music in the US?

The short term goals are to just stay positive and really take in every moment we are having with our music. All the experience we are getting from being here in the states is so mind blowing we really are lucky girls to be given this opportunity. Our plans for our music in the US is hopefully a long career. We don’t expect anything but if we can have a long career and keep doing what we’re doing then we’re really happy with that.

Was there ever a time where you felt like giving up music or quitting on your way to where you are now?

Not really!!! Because there’s the 3 of us we always help each other through the difficult times and reassure each other its okay and its worth it.

How do you keep the balance in your group, when it can be overwhelming at times trying to please everyone?

The 3 of us each know what one anothers strengths and weakness’s are so when it comes to keeping a balance it kind of just works. We really don’t stress over what people think of us because you can’t ever please everybody so we make sure that the 3 of us treat each other with respect and when we do that everyone gets along nicely.

Do you have any musical pet-peeves?

Yes – rhyming ‘girl’ with ‘world.’ I’m not going to lie, Ive done it but I don’t like it.

Besides music, what are some of your hobbies? What do you do to keep yourself grounded?

I love hanging out at my home. It sounds strange but I’m never there, so when I am I love getting into the garden and doing little projects around the house. When I’m not doing that, I love catching up with friends and family because I never get to see them.

What do you miss most, besides family and friends, when you are out traveling?

I miss home cooked meals. It’s so hard to eat healthy on the road. We try but the temptation of fast food sometimes wins because its so quick.

What is one accomplishment you hope to make above all others in your life and your career?

I would like to feel contentment and know that every decision I’ve made has been the right one for that time. I’m almost there!

Miley Cyrus ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ – VIDEO

[Miley Cyrus ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ – VIDEO]

Good ol’ Miley Cyrus is getting her Britney on in her new video for “Can’t Be Tamed.” I remember the days when Spears was at least pretending that her virginity was sacred and not handing out her goodies like a walking Pez dispenser. At least Cyrus comes right out with the fact she is trying to ditch the Hannah Montana persona of being a quirky teen.

In the video she pretends to be some sort of bird/human/peacock that is the last of her kind. (I find the irony here too.) She has some really decent choreography and a couple of flashy outfits that includes a $25,000 corset designed by The Blonds. I am sure this will be pawned at a later date by Daddy Cyrus after the Hannah meal ticket buffet ends.

New Music Friday – Palmdale

Palmdale is the “nom de rock” adopted by Kay Hanley & Linus Of Hollywood as they embarked on a new song writing venture in the summer of 2009. Kay Hanley is the former lead singer of Boston alt-pop band, Letters To Cleo. Since the band’s split in 2000, Kay has released 3 solo recordings and has provided songs and vocals for many film & TV projects, including Josie & The Pussycats, and toured as a back-up vocalist with Hannah Montana. Multi-instrumentalist Linus Of Hollywood has an eclectic resume that began as the frontman for the influential pop/punk band Size 14. Since then, Linus has released 5 solo albums, started two labels (Franklin Castle and Crappy Records) and has built a career as producer/songwriter, working with a diverse roster of artists (Bowling For Soup, Puff Daddy, Charlatans UK and Cheap Trick to name a few).

Long time fans of one another’s work, Linus + Kay became acquainted while active participants in Los Angeles’ thriving music community and decided to combine forces. Originally, their collaboration was intended to produce pop songs that other artists would record, but that idea was quickly scrapped when the music began to take on a cohesive sound and depth. They kept the material for themselves, tweaked the focus and continued writing. They recorded the songs in fall/winter of 2009 as Palmdale. You can watch their video for “Here Comes The Summer” above.

Bret Michaels Defends Miley Cyrus Song- Video

Bret Michaels says he has nothing to apologize for about “Nothin’ to Lose,” his new song featuring Miley Cyrus thats been causing a bit of controversy with the “Hannah Montana” star singing about ‘slowly get undressed’ and ‘falling on top of your lover.’ In an interview with “Us Magazine,” Michaels says he was shocked by some of the comments he’s received, never really thinking about the lyrics themselves and had no idea people would make such a big deal out of the song.

“I was like, ‘What the f*ck is going on?’ Everyone’s going nuts! It’s blown out of proportion,” insists the father of two girls (Raine, 9, and Jorja, 4). “I never sat down and said, ‘Look at the content. Look at the lyrical content,’” Michaels admits. “The part where it says she slowly gets undressed, Miley says, ‘Yeah she does.’ It has no reference to her and I. It’s not even a duet.”

The song, which he said he wrote and recorded a couple of year ago without Cyrus, got her attention while they were recording her cover of his song “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” for her next album. Michaels said Cyrus’ mother was with them in a New York recording studio when he played “Nothin’ to Lose” during a break.

“[Miley's] like, ‘This is an incredible song, it’s beautiful. Maybe I could some stuff to it, some harmonies,’” Michaels recounts. “I said, ‘That’d be killer!’” The next thing they knew, the unlikely pair were recording “Nothin’” together. “She was excited that she didn’t have to follow any rules,” he says of their impromptu jam session. “As God is my witness, there is nothing I have to be defensive about,” he says. “I’m a good Dad. I just thought it was a beautiful song. “

Maybe the two should have waited another year before jumping in the studio for this one. This is probably just a publicity stunt on his end because most people wouldn’t have listened to this song if there wasn’t all this controversy! Scandal or no scandal, the song will appear on his next album due out in May.

Miley Cyrus Yells ‘Don’t You Know Who I Am!?!’ at Waitress

miley-cyrus-and-baby

Miley Cyrus is no stranger to abusing her power. The ‘Hannah Montana’ starlet demanded to meet Radiohead, but the band snubbed meeting her and she threw a fit. Cyrus went on a struggling radio show and talked about the event like it was a CNN version of the girls bathroom and they were trying to guess who the knocked up prom queen was. She then vowed “to ruin” the band and blab to everyone for not meeting her.

It appears her ego has opened its mouth again as she yelled at a waitress at Pop Burger on East 58th Street. Why? The counter clerk didn’t know who she was.

“The counter manager asked for her name to mark the order. She snapped back, “Are you serious? You don’t recognize me? I’m Miley Cyrus.” The counterman still had no clue who she was, ran her credit card with her name on it and shrugged, “That’s nice for you. Here is your order. Have a good day.”

Hannah Montana may reign supreme now, but her future is probably filled with menthol lights, gold lame pants and bingo halls. Just as Jem. After she and the holograms split she ended up falling for a rough trick named Peter Piper and is shacked up at Y after her house caught on fire after the meth incident.

Billy Ray Cyrus Defends Miley Cyrus Pole Dancing -Video

It may be just a hunch, but I don’t think Billy Ray Cyrus will be winning any “Father of the Year” awards anytime soon! Speaking out for the first time, Cyrus doesn’t think that anything is wrong with his daughter Miley’s pole dancing at the Teen Choice Awards last week. Um, excuse me? The fact that she’s only 16 is wrong enough! While singing her latest hit song, “Party In The USA,” Miley jumped on top of an ice cream cart that was being pushed by her back up dancers. She then crouched and danced next to a metal pole attached to the top of the cart, which set off a firestorm of criticism all over the place and leaving behind a trail of ticked off mothers of daughters who look up to Cyrus as a role model.

Per Access Hollywood:

“You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people,” Billy Ray told Access. “She loves singing [and] songwriting. I always tell her to love what you’re doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion,” he added. “I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they wanna make, and make it in their own voice. I think it’s important.”

So your underage daughter dancing provocatively on a metal pole is considered art? The window is closing on the Cyrus family’s chance to set this girl straight or she will be well on her way to becoming a ‘Lohanesque’ sort of mess. I give it two years, tops, and we’ll have some Miley Cyrus naked pictures or a sex tape being shopped around.
