Superstitious or not, some of these rumored Hollywood Curses are creepy and make you question what is just coincidence and what could be more…
5. The ‘Dark Knight’ Curse
This one is a stretch, but it is still a rumored “curse” according to die-hard believers. Things started with the death of a crew member. A truck carrying the technician and a camera platform crashed into a tree while following a stunt vehicle. Heath Ledger’s death followed after filming had finished, but many blamed his insomnia and troubled mental state on delving too deep into his character. He mixed a lethal blend of sleep aids and pain killers and died before the film hit theaters. Christian Bale also faced some troubles just before the film’s London premiere. He went crazy and had a violent outburst that resulted in assault charges filed by his mother and sister. Morgan Freeman nearly died in a car crash. His vehicle flipped twice and he was said to be in serious condition, but survived.
4. Billy Bob Thornton Co-Star Curse
Billy Bob has 70 titles on his resume and hundreds of costars, but he has a list of co-stars who all died before they could order from the senior citizen’s menu. (As I approach 30…50-something is looking younger and younger.) It’s more like a sad version of 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon and has more to do with working with slew of great talent that was taken too soon, but some say it’s a curse.
1998 – ‘Slingblade’ – J.T. Walsh had a heart attack less than 2 years after co-starring with Billy.
2000 – ‘Daddy and Them’ – Jim Varney lost his battle with lung cancer before the film even hit theaters. (Obviously this death was a long time development, that started while he was filming, ‘Treehouse Hostage.’)
2003-’Bad Santa’ and ‘Slingblade’ – John Ritter was 55 and starring in a delightful tv show, ‘8 Simple Rules.’ An undetected heart defect claimed his life.
2003 – ‘Dirty Life and Times…’ –Warren Zevon and Billy Bob filmed a “slice of life” documentary that featured their efforts in making his record. Zevon succumbed to mesothelioma a year later.
2008 – ‘Monster Ball’ – Heath Ledger gave a performance that showed off his versatility as Billy Bob’s troubled son in 2001. In 2008 Heath died after mixing a toxic blend of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine.
2008 – ‘Bad Santa’ – Bernie Mac was also in Bad Santa with Thornton and Ritter. Mac had been battling sarcoidosis, but was said to have had it under control. Unfortunately, contrary to reports by reps that Bernie was going to make a full recovery…he died on August 8th.
2009 – ‘Waking Up in Reno’ – Natasha Richardson played Billy’s wife in ‘Waking Up in Reno.’ Sadly, she died in a tragic skiing accident after suffering an epidural hematoma.
2009 – ‘Waking Up in Reno’ – Patrick Swayze also starred in ‘Waking Up in Reno’ with Billy Bob in 2002. He passed away of pancreatic cancer despite a hopeful year long struggle.
3. The ‘Poltergeist’ Films Curse
This is what happens when you have a pool party with dead people. Actual skeletons were used to create the scene in which Diane Freeling (played by JoBeth Williams) is in a swimming pool with a bunch of dead bodies. The use of the real thing is where the curse began. Accidents, fires and other mishaps began to be a reoccurring issue on set. JoBeth even reported that pictures on her walls were always moved or askew after she came home from filming each day. Dominique Dunne was murdered by her boyfriend just after the movie was released. Heather O’Rourke, who played little Carol Ann, died after a freak infection (that was thought to be the flu) took its toll. Julian Beck was 60 years old and had stomach cancer, but curse believers blame the movies. Will Sampson died in 1987 after complications from a heart and lung transplant claimed his life.
2. The Exorcist Curse
This one is creepy thanks to the fact it was based on incident that occurred in Georgetwon involving a 13 year boy. After filming began the set burned down, a carpenter cut off his thumb, Linda Blair had a mental breakdown and nine deaths occurred while the film was in production. Linda’s grandpa died along with Jack McGowen, Max Von Sydow’s brother, a night watchman, a special effects expert, a cameraman’s newborn and the sequel’s original director (John Frankenhiemer). Other rumors state that fax machines would turn on by themselves and print out pages filled with the number 6.
1. The ‘Atuk’ Script Curse
‘Atuk’ is a script that is still out there, but never made it past day 1 of production. The script surfaced in the 80’s centering on the plot of a plus sized Eskimo fulfilling his dream of living in New York City. John Belushi was originally intended to star in the movie. He reportedly read the script and was “enthusiastic” about playing the part. Soon after, he was found dead of a drug overdose. Next, Sam Kinison accepted the role and even filmed a few scenes before he had a breakdown, locked himself in his dressing room and refused to continue filming unless the script underwent some rewrites. In 1992 he died in a car crash. Michael O’Donoghue had read the script and recommended it to Belushi and Kinison died of a cerebral hemorrhage. In 1994 the ‘Atuk’ script surfaced again in John Candy’s hands. The day before the 12th anniversary of Belushi’s death, Candy suffered a fatal heart attack. Finally Chris Farley was the last to read the script and was about to accept the role when he, like John, died of a drug overdose. It is also rumored that Chris showed the script to Phil Hartman and was encouraging him to take a co-starring role in the movie. Phil was shot and killed by his wife six months after Farley’s death. The film was then damned and shelved. A rumor circulated that it was up for auction on eBay, but it was never confirmed as legit.
Jake Gyllenhaal Defends Heath Ledger

I too am envisioning Jake ripping his shirt off and challenging some drunken patron to fisticuffs circa “Road House.”
Jake Gyllenhaal was hitting Garde-Manger in Montreal. He had a small entourage of friends and was reportedly indulging in a few drinks. Having a good time or nursing his broken heart after his break up with Reese Witherspoon (who is now dating someone new Click HERE to find out who), he and his friends were dancing on the bench of their table.
A blogger who runs a NSFW site (vastly dedicated to boobs and bad words – pretty much a 12 year old’s idea of a good time) was in the restaurant and marched up to Gyllenhaal and asked: “”Hey isn’t that the guy who killed Heath Ledger?” (E! is reporting that he asked: “”Hey isn’t that the guy who kissed Heath Ledger?” but I am quoting the accuser’s story on his site. I would also like to mention that he has altered his side of the story several times.)
Jake was rightfully and instantly furious. He then got into the blogger’s face and told him to “f**k off” and leave. Bouncers immediately escorted the offending patron out. Here is where it gets nasty. The blogger claimed that they girl he was with was pushed by Gyllenhaal “at least 10 times” before he was pulled back after he was escorted out. The problem with the story is that the blogger didn’t actually witness this claim as he was admittedly kicked out before she was reportedly pushed. Other witnesses confirm that no one was pushed despite his Twitters that his friend was “beat up” by Gyllenhaal.
As for this girl who was supposedly caught in the crossfire? Onlookers tell us “there were a bunch of girls” there but “no one was shoved or hurt.”
Since then the blogger has heard from Jake’s attorneys and is refusing to acquiesce to any of their request. What makes me doubt the validity of the blogger’s story is that he pulled a Perez and instead of calling the police, he Twittered to every media contact he had that Jake had “beat up his gf.” Classic famewhore mistake. I am sure he will be pregnant with Jude Law’s baby next week.
Dina Lohan Says Lindsay Is A Cutter

In another small glimpse into the tortured and messed up life of Lindsay Lohan, another taped phone call between parents Michael his ex-wife Dina has surfaced, in which Dina admits that Lindsay is a cutter. Rumors that Lindsay was causing harm to herself over the past few years began after multiple photographs revealed fresh cuts and old scars on her wrists and arms, a tell-tale sign of self-mutilation. HollywoodDame first reported on this a couple months back (You can read about that here), but it appears the cutting has been going on for quite some time as the audio recording released is back from 2008. In the conversation Michael and Dina both acknowledge how bad their daughter’s problems have become, but both deny they either of them are at fault. Michael tells Dina that he represents the bad things in Lindsay’s life but his ex-wife interrupts.
Per Radar:
“Her cutting herself and hurting herself? Yeah, it’s bad Michael, it’s bad.”
Dina then admits that she feels like Lindsay’s in a dire situation and that something bad is bound to happen to her.
“I know it’s gonna happen,” Dina says. “If something happens I will feel that it’s all your fault, that’s how I will feel, it’s not about me.”
“And I’ll feel that it’s everybody else’s fault,” Michael responds.
The estranged exes then continue to bicker more about whose fault it is. Michael’s says that earlier leaks of phone conversations are proof that Lindsay needs help and were slammed by Dina, who along with her daughter have also threatened legal action. He claims to be releasing these conversations as a way to push his daughter into rehab to get some help.
“I admit, I’m being a bit selfish in releasing the tapes,” he told us. “But I’m tired of being lied about. I’m tired of Dina and others making me out to be someone I’m not, so now I’m going to prove to the world who the real liars are.”
The latest phone recording is just one of several tapes released by Michael over the past week. Previous recordings have revealed a crying Lindsay on the verge of a breakdown calling out for help and about an alleged secret relationship with Heath Ledger around the time of his death (You can read about that here.) How could Dina know and look at her arms and do nothing about it? She knows its real bad but yet says she wouldn’t be at fault if anything happens to Lindsay? News Flash Dina – you will be 100% at fault for doing nothing! Without any kind of help, Lindsay will most likely self-destruct within the next 18 months or less. She never stood a chance with parents like these.

Lindsay Lohan Death Sentence

Michael Lohan is a part of Bush’s Axis of Evil and a disgusting human being from henceforth to be known as Professor Whore Mouth. Where is NeNe to come rip out his hair plugs and inform him of his toxic parenting? (Click here for that video of NeNe’s verbal slappery.)
Professor Whore Mouth is on his ‘Tour de Lindsay’s Coked Out Coattails’ and name dropped Heath Ledger and has thusly completely made himself look like a moron. He is trying to stage an intervention for Lindsay Lohan, but instead of quietly sitting down with family and friends he is trying to do it through media outlets because nothing says ‘I care’ like famewhoring and a death sentence that will happen “within a year.”
Per Grazia Magazine via NY Daily:
‘She needs long-term rehab. I fear the worst. Look at Elvis, Anna Nicole Smith, Heath Ledger – who was a close friend of hers. It could be a year, a month, a week – who knows? She has a plethora of medicine you can’t mix and can’t drink with.’
He should really take his act on the road. People would pay good money to see someone with his own head shoved up his rump.

Michael Lohan & NeNe Leakes War Of Words

Another war of words erupted on “The Insider” last night, this time between attention seeker Michael Lohan and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes.
Lohan has been speaking out to the media alot lately, saying that he wants to petition for his daughter’s Lindsay Lohans‘ conservatorship because he believes she is addicted to prescription drugs. Lohan appeared via satellite on the show, and Leakes barely let Lohan have a chance to defend himself for his public actions, though that still didn’t stop him from lashing back at her. She accused him of being a sell-out parent who is trying to make money on his daughter, calling him things like a “toxic parrot” and “manipulator,” but he denied the claims.
Per NY Daily News:
“I believe you’re just trying to make money off of Lindsay,” Leakes said. “You’re always in the press.”
Lohan responded, saying he hasn’t made any money off of his daughter and that he’s the only one trying to help her.
“I’m not going see my daughter die!” he said. “You have Michael Jackson, you had Heath Ledger, Adam Goldstein. You can go back to John Belushi, Anna Nicole Smith, and even Elvis Presley. It was prescription drugs that killed these people. I’m not going watch my daughter die.”
Undeterred, Leakes continued, threatening him physically. “Do not make me come after you,” she warned. “I will eat you alive.”
“Do something worthwhile and promote Nutri-System,” says Lohan. “Give your chair a break and move your fat a** outta there!”
Guess we know now where Lindsay gets her “Oh, well she’s fat” comebacks from. Leakes then takes it another step farther, telling Lohan to ‘go hang out with Jon Gosselin.’ Bah-Zing! Their war of the words ended with Lohan taking off his mic and leaving his chair, abruptly ending the interview. Come on now… we’re all adults here, aren’t we?
It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Daddy Lohan, who is reportedly about to get served with a restraining order by Lindsay. This comes after he made it public knowledge that he hoped stage an intervention for her whose alarming appearance and erratic behavior has left him sure she’s been popping pills and drinking in excess. Lindsay didn’t appreciate her father’s heart-to-heart with the tabloids and obviously Leakes didn’t either! But in the end, its Papa Lohan who looks like the bigger man, as he’s issued an apology to Ms. Leakes.
Per The Insider:
“I apologize to the producers of ["The Insider"], the viewers and even Miss Leakes for coming back at her, for her attack on me, in the inappropriate manner I did. I do however wish I had known she was on the panel because then I would have known what I was in for and I would have handled things differently. To begin with, she may have children, but none in a crisis situation. Second, for her to call me a broke a** when I am not, but she had a house in foreclosure and 2 cars repoed [sic], I would have addressed that as well. This show was about helping my daughter and owning up to my part of her life and why I have taken these measures. Not a personal attack on Lindsay or me. I am sorry for my conduct and I hope Ms. Leakes is for hers.”

Michelle Williams Talks About Heath Ledger, Spike Jonze Break Up in Vogue – Photos

Michelle Williams is rocking a pixie cut on the October issue of Vogue. The former “Dawson’s Creek” actress shared the screen with Heath Ledger and it forever changed her life. After loosing her once fiancé and father of her child she rarely opens up about the loss of Heath. Currently she is doing her best to pick the pieces up and move on. She talks intimately wit the mag across subjects about dating again. Williams was involved with director Spike Jonze after she began to move on from Heath, but the couple broke up.
“The timing was impossible. I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain. This erroneous idea: It just makes things more complicated.” And dating with a kid? “I obviously don’t know how to do it.”
After keeping as much dignity and grace involving the man she will forever be tied to, Michelle explained her hatred of interviews post Ledger’s passing.
“I didn’t know what my boundaries were for a long time, which made interviews feel very unsafe. I can talk about grief, because that’s mine; about single parenting; about trying to balance work and kids. But what I don’t have to talk about is what happened between Heath and me in our relationship.”

Coping after Ledger’s untimely death: “I was holding it together by a string and a paper clip in the fall and winter. I didn’t know if I could keep it all together… You console yourself by saying it’s all a deepening process. But it’s wired. After the first year, the pain is less intense; it’s less immediate. But the magical thinking goes away too. And that’s a whole new reckoning. But every time I really miss him and wonder where he’s gone, I just look at her [Matilda.]”
The happy times: “‘Brokeback Mountain” was an unrepeatable moment in time, a very charmed time in my life. I was in love; I was in a movie I was proud to be a part of, and with a beautiful brand-new baby. Everything was good in that moment.”
Dealing with the paparazzi presence: “It’s because of this tragedy that there’s more paparazzi. That is hard to be graceful and understanding about… It’s hard to be the man and the woman in that [paparazzi] situation. Heath always used to do that for us.”
Falling in love: “I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain. This erroneous idea: It just makes things more complicated.”
What the future holds: “I feel hopeful and grateful. For a while I thought we had lost everything. It makes you want to love better and liver better.”

Vanity Fair Claims Heath Ledger Was Married and Tried to Sabotage Role in ‘Dark Knight’

In the August issue of Vanity Fair, the magazine picks at the scab of Heath Ledger. Upon the recent plethora of celebrity loss, the mag once again digs at the actor. The cover features and old photo of Heath smiling and looking healthy with the bolded all capital letters claiming it’s recount of “Heath Ledger’s Final Days” while the spread inside depicts more happy photos of him with the title “The Last of Heath.”
Vanity Fair went back into his personal life and issues while reexamining what led to his death. Their first mistake was reopening a wound over a year old and their second was claiming Heath and Michelle Williams were married. Later, the mag edited and corrected their flubs mentioning their “failed marriage.”
Via Vanity Fair:
“Terry Gilliam—Ledger’s friend and mentor, and the director of Doctor Parnassus—agrees with Pecorini that the romance between Ledger and Williams began to unravel during the Oscar campaign for Brokeback Mountain. “The whole machinery started growing up around them,” Gilliam says. “That was the moment when it changed, when he realized, Uh-oh. We perceive the world differently. He didn’t care about things like those awards.”
According to Pecorini, “Heath was always blaming himself [about the relationship], asking, What did I do wrong?” Adds Gilliam, “Because he’s a much nicer person than I am, he really thought he could do the right thing. He was trying to be decent and graceful, give her whatever she wanted—the house, every fucking thing. But once it started going south, it went very quickly. He was overwhelmed by lawyers, and there were more and more of them, as if they were breeding. I said, ‘This is bullshit. Heath, just end it. Get out—it’s bad. You’ve got to just walk away from it.’ The stakes kept going up. He wouldn’t listen to any of us.”
As Ledger’s relationship with Williams unraveled, and the pair started dealing with lawyers and custody issues, according to Gilliam, Ledger fell apart. “The thing that really made Heath snap” was legal wrangling over his daughter, Matilda, Gilliam says. “He said, ‘Just f**k all of you! I’m not giving Michelle anything.’” Recalls another source, when it came to Matilda’s care, “there were definitely heated conversations, and emotions were high.” (Ledger’s lawyer declined to comment on any aspect of the separation or custody dispute.)”

Johnny Depp Names a Beach After Heath Ledger

It’s no secret that sex-on-a-stick, Johnny Depp, has a special place in his heart for Heath Ledger. Depp was one of the 3 actors to finish Heath’s last project, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.” He, Jude Law and Colin Ferrell each took a role in finishing the film and then donated their paychecks to Matilda Ledger.
Johnny also a special place dedicated to the memory of Heath on his 45-acre private Bahamian island, Little Hall’s Pond Cay. It’s his sanctuary and calm from the media storm that follows Depp.
Via Vanity Fair:
“Little Hall’s Pond has six different beaches–named after Depp’s partner, Vanessa Paradis, and their children, Lily Rose and Jack, as well as his mentors Hunter S. Thompson and Marlon Brando–each with a personality and cove of its own, and one patch of water deemed “Heath’s Place” after the late actor Heath Ledger. There are several small residences, all solar-powered, and transportation consists of a fleet of green golf carts.
“I don’t think I’d ever seen any place so pure and beautiful,” Depp tells Brinkley of the island. “You can feel your pulse rate drop about 20 beats. It’s instant freedom. And that rare beast–simplicity–can be had. And a little morsel of anonymity…. Whenever I was getting frustrated about being ‘novelty boy’ and making movies, I told myself, Calm down. I can come down here and disappear.”
That settles it. I want my own island.

Heath Ledger’s Family Will Rob Matilda of Oscar

Yesterday as they were landing at LAX, the family of the late Heath Ledger was asked if daughter Matilda Ledger would get the Oscar for his inevitable win as supporting actor for his role of the Joker in “The Dark Knight.”
Per The Envelope:
“Oh, yeah, down the line. We’ll keep it for her forever!” Said Heaths’ father Kim.
Um… what? The academy requires that posthumously bestowed Oscars go to the late person’s spouse or a child of legal age. Therefore, that award technically will belong to Matilda, and her mother Michelle Williams should accept the award on her daughters behalf. Although, that would create a sticky situation given the fact that Williams and Ledger were estranged at the time of his death and the two never married. The only thing stopping little Matilda from going up there on stage to accept that award is the fact that she is only 3 years old. You can bet your bottom dollar if she was older, she’d proudly go up there and accept that award on behalf of her father. Keeping the award will break the agreement the Ledgers made with the academy.
Per The Envelope:
“It’s complicated, because there are two different questions that have to be answered. First, we have to decide who gets the job of accepting the award onstage on the night of the ceremony. And then there’s the question of the eventual disposition of the posthumous statuette, which may not stay with the person who accepts it.” says Bruce Davis, Academy Executive Director. “In the event that Heath Ledger should be selected as the supporting actor recipient, the statuette will be held in trust for his daughter by her mother, Michelle Williams, until Matilda reaches the age of 18. At that point, she may execute what we call an heir’s agreement and keep the statuette forever — or, if she chooses not to do that, it will return to us.”
So what about the actors Screen Actors Guild Award that was won not too long ago? According to SAG Awards producer Kathy Connell, they are still holding it until the proper paperwork can be filled out. And what about his Golden Globe award? The Hollywood Foreign Press Association says they shipped Heath’s Golden Globe over to the office of his publicist Mara Buxbaum. Or what about his Critics Choice award? Supposedly, it was shipped to Warner Bros. awards office. But when asked, they claimed they don’t have it, and to ask Ms. Buxbaum for an official statement. Hmmm… so all of Heath’s awards are nowhere to be found… Interesting.
So why is the Ledger family being so shady with his awards? His daughter is his sole heir, and therefore should have her father’s belongings. With the way Heath obviously loved his daughter, you can assume he’d want her to have them. Matilda lost her daddy at such a young age – shouldn’t she at least have things to remember him by?
