‘Breaking Dawn’ Officially Announced As Two Movies

Twilight fans rejoice! Summit confirmed yesterday what every Twihard and her cousin already knew – Summit will pull a Harry Potter and split “Breaking Dawn” into two films, with Bill Condon directing both, and shooting them back to back, with part one slated for a November 2011 release.

Per Hollywood Crush:

Los Angeles, CA, June 10, 2010 – Summit Entertainment confirmed today that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN will be released as two separate films with the first of the two slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011. Academy Award® winner Bill Condon will direct both films starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner along with Billy Burke as Charlie Swan as well as returning members of the Cullen Family including Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Ashley Greene as Alice and Kellan Lutz as Emmett.

The project, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg with Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer producing. The TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN will start production in the Fall.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.

Summit was reported to be considering doing to films about the final book in the Twilight series but had to sign up key stars for the movie, because two films weren’t part of the original negotiations for the series. Pattinson and Stewart negotiated their deals quickly, but Greene and Lutz held out for more money (read about that here.) It looked for a time like they might be replaced, but finally agreed to a compromise. Condon promises to make the movies into something sexy but suitable for kids. I can’t wait to see how they handle the honeymoon and birthing scene in the movies as the latter was pretty disturbing in the book. The biggest question now is where in the story the first film will end and where the second film begins.

There is no release date given for the second film yet, but given the urgency we can only guess it will be the first half of 2012 or, at the latest, late 2012. But that’s of course just a guess. Yes, Twilight-haters…. This means you’re not even halfway through the phenomenon yet!

Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner’s Gay Celebrity Lover

The pack of vampires and werewolves in “Twilight Saga” led by heartthrob Robert Pattinson have sent many hearts racing and the latest to get star struck is David Duchovny, who went on record this week confessing which men he would “go gay” for. While two are a little shocking, he seems less picky when it comes to Twilight actors.

Per Examiner:

“Garry Shandling is someone I’ve publicly gone gay for, for jokes,” he said referring to his co-star in ‘The X-Files’ TV series. “Anyone in the Twilight movies. I don’t know any of their names, but all of them. The wolves, the vampires, they’re all fantastic. I think Woody Allen is one of a long list of men I might go gay for [too].”

Wow, he means all Twilight guys? So that will also include Peter Facinelli, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Alex Meraz, etc… He’ll have to go through me first! In ‘real life’ Duchovny is of course married to actress Tea Leoni, sharing two children together so don’t hold your breath!

Robert Pattinson Shops for Action Film, Jackson Rathbone is Kid Friendly

Could Robert Pattinson be switching it up a bit – going from playing the heartthrob in movies to becoming to next big action star? Seems that way, as his ‘people’ are busy trying line up at least one top notch action flick for him to take on this year.

Per Examiner:

With all the rumors (and bogus ones at that) about Robert Pattinson possibly becoming the next James Bond or even starring in the upcoming fourth Spider-Man film, it seems there is definite interest within the Hollywood community to see Robert Pattinson take an action role.

While seeing Pattinson in the role of Bond? James Bond, 007, you know who I mean, would be interesting and quite the jump for his career, don’t look for it to happen anytime soon. During the London premiere of his movie “Remember Me,” Pattinson revealed that he’d entertain the role of James Bond if offered but also admitted that he isn’t very athletic and is “not good at running.” He also reminded the everybody that if the role of James Bond was offered, it wouldn’t be anytime soon saying, “Maybe in a few years.” With predecessors like Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery, and Daniel Craig, Pattinson would be a much younger James Bond but maybe they can revamp the movies like they are doing with the “Spiderman” movies. Speaking of which – As for the rumor that’s been going around that he could replace Tobey Maguire donning the Spidey costume in the reboot, Pattinson says it’s totally not true, although it’s the kind of thing he’d love to do because he likes the idea of “doing an action movie where you can never see your face, cause you don’t have to go to the gym and you don’t have to do any of your stunts and stuff.” However, don’t worry about Pattinsons’ career – his movie “Remember Me” was just released and is receiving high praises from fans despite the critics harsh reviews, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is out in June, and he is currently filming “Bel Ami.” He is considered as hot property in Hollywood these days, so the Bond franchise would be lucky to have him!

Meanwhile, the other lesser talked about Cullen brother, Jackson Rathbone will be at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards tomorrow night with his co-star Nicola Peltz in support of their upcoming film “The Last Airbender.” Above is a promo spot for the awards show, featuring Jackson and Nicola.

Jackson Rathbone Injured On “Eclipse” Set

Oh no! There’s been an accident on the set of the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” set…. But settle down Twi-hards…. Its only minor and it wasn’t Robert Pattinson…. Its okay to breathe now and cancel your candlelight vigils! Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper Hale in the movies, has sustained a mild injury while filming the third instalment in the “Twilight” franchise during a fight-scene rehearsal on Tuesday. No word just yet on how he injured himself, but according to a statement from a rep for the film, he’s doing a-okay!

Per MTV:

“He’s fine and is back at work on the set of ‘Eclipse’ today,” says the rep.

As a precaution, he was driven to the hospital and checked out by a doctor. Rathbone has previously admitted to having a crush on new co-star Bryce Dallas Howard, so maybe if he’s lucky she’ll takes pity on him. If not, I’m sure there’s plenty of girls out there that wouldn’t mind doing so. I know I wouldn’t!

I hath returned dahhhhhlings! And like that good drunken aunt who spoils you by sneaking booze to you at holidays…I bear gifts for all you Twilight lovahs.

Fresh “New Moon” posters and promos have hit the net. I added some older wolf pack photos for funsies. No real news value here, but it is a Sunday night and I should be nursing my hangover with my head in toilet. So…the only fun fact I have involves Jackson Rathbone. Apparently he has had a crush on Bryce Dallas Howard. (Bryce is the new Victoria for “Eclipse” click here to read about Rachelle LeFevre being replaced. )

Jackson Rathbone 100 Monkeys Performance-Video and Photos

Those ‘Twilight’ kids sure do spend a lot of time together. WTF? Are they trying to replace the Brat Pack? Sorry, Nikki Reed will never come close to Molly Ringwald, or even Ally Sheedy.

So here they are, in Vancouver last night at a 100 Monkeys show. In case you aren’t female or in case you don’t live within a 100 mile radius of one, Jackson Rathbone (aka Jasper Hale/Cullen) is the lead guitarist and singer of the band.

Nearly the entire cast came out to listen to Rathbone and his band including everyone’s favorite ‘we’re not a lesbian couple’ couple, Nikki Reed and Kristen Stewart. They can be seen in the video in the front row. At first, I was pretty sure Nikki was having a seizure, turns out that is what she calls dancing. Feel the beat, girl! I have been to many a ‘White Girl Dance Party’ myself. KStew was more subdued and opted for taking pictures of Rathbone as he played. FYI, the paps have way better cameras than that. You should really just invest in some of those pictures.

Others in attendance were Taylor Lautner (anyone else wondering how the 17 year-old got in?), Peter Facinelli, Kellen Lutz, and Ashley Greene who apparently spent her time there playing touch my hynie with Lost’s Ian Somerhalder. Oh! Me likes! It’s like my two favorite things in the world are merging: ‘Lost’ and the ‘Twilight Saga’. Somerhalder is in Vancouver shooting the new series ‘The Vampire Diaries’. I guess fictitious vampires dig Canada, eh?

Notably absent was Robert Pattinson. I don’t think he’s so much the dancing/pose for pictures in a crowded bar full of Twi-hards type.

What do we think of Rathbone’s singing and playing? He’s pretty decent, though the audio is poor. When you’re that pretty, it really doesn’t matter though, does it?

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart ‘New Moon’ Set Photos And Casting Update

A mere two days after I leave the city of Vancouver, all the “New Moon” stuff goes down. First, according to her own Myspace page, singer/actress Tinsel Korey has landed the role of Emily in the “Twilight” sequel. Take this for what it is worth. You can see photos and brief bios of the fellow ‘New Moon’ cast by clicking here. According to my personal Myspace page I am 22 and in caught in a love triangle with Robert Pattinson and David Beckham.

Speaking of Sparklepants, though I didn’t have the pleasure of seeing him on the streets of Vancouver (wipes away a tear), Lainey Gossip is once again on top of things and has posted new pictures from the set of “New Moon.” The pics show our favorite English export acting out a scene with co-star Kristen Stewart. The pics also give us our first glimpses of Bella’s high school friends: Mike, Angela, and everyone’s favorite frenemy Jessica (played by Mike Welch, Christian Serratos, and Anna Kendrick respectively).

According to Lainey Gossip:

“About this scene – supposedly in the parking lot of the school and there’s an intimate moment between Bella and Edward. Or something.”

As for my trip to Vancouver, I didn’t go home empty handed. Though I did not get my chance to allow Sparklepants to fall in love with me, I did have the pleasure of running into Edi Gathegi and Jackson Rathbone in the lobby of their hotel (what I was doing there will remain off the record). After exchanging smiles with both gentlemen, I freaked internally and watched them get on the elevator. I was pretty pathetic. And since I know you are curious: Edi is quite handsome and taller than expected, Jackson was nearly unrecognizable with his dark hair, but overall is very, very pretty. That’s the best word to describe him.

Jackson Rathbone Simply Gratuitous Photos

The brother of Edward Cullen, Jasper Cullen, is gaining momentum among the “Twilight” fans. While he isn’t pulling Robert Pattinson crowds yet, he does have following that is growing. Besides “New Moon” he is also set to appear in a Clive Barker horror film, “Dread” and a few other films. “The Last Airbender” will also feature Rathbone as Sokka. You might also recognize him from two episodes of “The O.C.” or the straight to video Tara Reid flick, “Senior Skip Day.”

He was born in Singapore and has lived in several different parts of the world that include Indonesia before settling in Texas. Jackson or Jay, as some call him, is close friends with his “Twilight” costar Ashley Greene. She is his onscreen love, Alice Cullen.

When he isn’t acting he plays in band “100 Monkeys” with friends Jerad Anderson and Ben Graupner. He already has a few fan sites dedicated to him as well.

Twilight Star Jackson Rathbone Teams Up With M. Night Shayamalan

Jackson Rathbone set tween hearts ablaze last fall as vampire vegetarian “Jasper” in “Twilight“. The actor/musician (he IS the band “100 Monkeys”) is now set to take on the role of “Sokka” in M. Night Shayamalan’s big screen version of Nickelodeon’s “The Last Airbender“. Shayamalan is best known for suspenseful thrillers with twist endings like The Sixth Sense, but his most recent release, “The Happening” starring Mark Wahlburg, received not-so-nice reviews from critics and left many fans of the movie maker disappointed.

Other actors who are set to take on roles in the film include “Deck the Halls” actress Nicola Peltz, who will play Rathbone’s sister Katara and newcomer Noah Ringer. Ringer is slated to tackle the lead role of Aang. It is rumored that other tween sensation Jesse McCartney is also on board. Some critics are concerned about the young, somewhat inexperienced cast. My major concern is how will Tiger Beat manage all the centerfold layouts this cast will generate.

Rathbone tells MTV:

“For me, it’s a great chance to show my range a little bit more,” comparing Sokka to his “Twilight” character. “It’s a chance to do something a little funnier; something less serious than Jasper.”

Twi-hards need not to worry. Rathbone is set to reprise his role of Jasper in New Moon which begins filming in March. Shayamalan is already receiving flack for not casting Asian actors in the film.

When asked his opinion on the matter, Rathbone shrugged it off stating:

“I think it’s one of those things where I pull my hair up, shave the sides, and I definitely need a tan,” he said of the transformation he’ll go through to look more like Sokka. “It’s one of those things where, hopefully, the audience will suspend disbelief a little bit.”

Ummm…OK. I guess if you think that makes you appear more Asian, then bring on the Bic and start shaving. ‘The Last Airbender’ is scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2010.
