Eva Longoria’s divorce isn’t even finalized and already, John Mayer is reportedly hot on her trail!

“John is crazy about Eva,” a friend of the crooner tells me. “There is something about newly-divorced ladies that drives him nuts. He was the same way over Jessica [Simpson] when she left Nick [Lachey], and now he has his eye on Eva.”

But will Eva bite?

“No way is Eva thinking of another man right now,” a friend of the actress tells me. “Mayer can send all the flowers in the world and even show up under her window with his guitar and it would make no difference. Eva wants some alone time. She is still heartbroken about her marriage falling apart.”

At least she’s taking time to get past her broken heart before becoming the next scorned patient at the free clinic.

Jessica Simpson Reacts To Ex Husband Nick Lachey’s Engagement

Last week was big for celebrity engagements, among the happy couples – Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo. Ex-wife Jessica Simpson knew the day would come when the man she let get away would propose to another woman. And now friends say she’s “deeply saddened.”

Per Vancouver Sun:

“Even though Jessica wants to be happy for Nick, this is a very difficult time for her. Nick was the love of her life then and he was her first, so she will always have a very special place in her heart for him.”

It was only months after Nick’s ugly divorce from Jessica that he started dating Vanessa back in 2006 and last Thursday they sealed the deal! The happy couple told Us Weekly that they were excited about their engagement and look forward to a wonderful future together. Simpson insiders are saying Jessica has yet to contact Nick to say congrats, and that it’s possible it may stay that way for a while – somebody’s jealous.
