John Lennon – 30 Years and the Lost Interview

It has been 30 years since John Lennon was tragically cut short. On December 8th, 1980 the Beatles band member was shot in the back four times. One of music most talented songwriters was lost that day.

As a tribute to Lennon, Rolling Stone has devoted their final issue of 2010 to the slain Beatle. The mag used an interview Jonathan Cott nabbed just three days before he was killed in New York. Parts of that interview hit the magazine in January of 1981. The rest of the 9 hours of the sit down with John sat undisturbed since.

“Earlier this year I was cleaning up to find some files in the recesses of my closet when I came across two cassette tapes marked ‘John Lennon, December 5th, 1980.’ It had been 30 years since I listened to them, and when I put them on, this totally alive, uplifting voice started speaking on this magical strip of magnetic tape.”

On Friday the mag will hit stands and explore the lost tape and its contents. Some it the mag shares is eerie in the sense of Lennon’s plans and view of the music market after his 5 year hiatus…

“What they want is dead heroes, like Sid Vicious and James Dean,” Lennon says. “I’m not interested in being a dead fucking hero…so forget ‘em, forget ‘em.”

Beyond that sadness grows as he talks about having time on his side and a return to touring wouldn’t be out of the question.

“We just might do it,” he said. “But there will be no smoke bombs, no lipstick, no flashing lights. It just has to be comfy. But we could have a laugh. We’re born-again rockers, and we’re starting over…There’s plenty of time, right? Plenty of time.”

John Lennon Quotes

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”

“As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot.”

“For those of you in the cheap seats I’d like ya to clap your hands to this one; the rest of you can just rattle your jewelry!”

“When you’re drowning you don’t think, ‘I would be incredibly pleased if someone would notice I’m drowning and come and rescue me.’ You just scream.”

“Music is everybody’s business. It’s only the publishers who think people own it”

“Possession isn’t nine-tenths of the law. It’s nine-tenths of the problem.”

“If being an egomaniac means I believe in what I do and in my art or music, then in that respect you can call me that… I believe in what I do, and I’ll say it.”

John Lennon – “Imagine” Lyrics

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Taylor Lautner In The Running To Become Max Steele, Robert Pattinson To Become John Lennon

Has Taylor Lautner found another project to sink his teeth into? Rumor has it that the “Twilight” star may be the frontrunner to play the title role in Paramount’s “Max Steel,” based on Mattel’s action figure toy line. Lautner would play Josh McGrath, a 19-year-old extreme-sports athlete who is accidentally exposed to the unleashed power of nanotechological machines, which become part of him and give him increased strength, near-invulnerability and the ability to change his appearance. The Max Steel toy line first came out in 1999 and was shortly after turned into a CG-animated television series that ran from 2000-02. It also later spawned a video game and five animated movies, as well as the “Turbo Missions” series of one-minute clips that ran on the Cartoon Network last year. It’s worth noting that Paramount and other studios are eager to cast Lautner because he can bring young women into theaters, which works in his favor for this movie. Its no secret that Lautner is a huge celebrity right now, but his only other project in addition to the upcoming “Twilight” sequel “Eclipse” is a role in the romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day.” But that has already wrapped filming, so the actor has nothing on his calendar at the moment except for an upcoming hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live” next weekend.

In other related news, rumors are buzzing around the Internet today that Robert Pattinson is in talks with with director Robert Zemeckis to play legendary Beatle John Lennon in Disney’s 3-D remake of the classic cartoon “Yellow Submarine.” The original 1968 animated feature film is based on the music of “The Beatles.” However, the real members of the famous group only appeared in the closing scene of the film, with the Beatles characters in the film voiced by other actors. The new film is reportedly going to be set in Pepperland, an undersea paradise protected by Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. When the band are captured by the music-hating Blue Meanies, a soldier is sent to Liverpool to fetch the fab four, who hop in the submarine and save the day. The script has also been written by Zemeckis with a targeted 2012 release schedule. Also in the near future for Pattinson are the movies “Bel Ami” and the western “Unbound Captives” in addition to “Eclipse,” the third movie in the “Twilight” saga.

However, nothing has been confirmed as of now about Lautner’s or Pattinson’s involvement in the films. I personally think both boys have what it takes to fill the roles mentioned. While I’m definitely a Twi-hard, it would be nice to see them step away and branch out from the franchise.

John Lennon Laptop Commercial – Video

John Lennon was killed 28 years ago, but managed to lend a posthumous appearance in a commercial. A foundation that supports getting children all over the world a laptop use Lennon‘s powerful image to spread their message. The “One Laptop per Child” Foundation was created in 2005 after the solar-powered XO laptop was created. The goal is to outfit every child with a computer according to Reuters.

“Imagine every child no matter where in the world they were could access a universe of knowledge. They would have a chance to learn, to dream, to achieve anything they want,” a voice and video image of Lennon has been created to say.

“I tried to do it through my music, but now you can do it in a very different way. You can give a child a laptop and more than imagine, you can change the world.”

Ummm….I am pretty sure those Cambodia children, who lack internet connect, would prefer food or vaccines over a porn machine. Just a thought. Also…how creepy!
