He didn’t win Bizarre Shagger Of The Year three years running for nothing! Katy Perry’s parents might have been strict in the past, but these days its Katy who’s doing the disciplining – scolding her mom for flirting with her fiance, Russell Brand.

“They really didn’t know about him,” Perry says. “They give people the benefit of the doubt and it’s up to the person to mess it up.”

Initially her parents were a little wary of the man who single-handedly worked his way through an impressive percentage of the world’s female population. Eventually they did warm up to him, especially Mama Perry, perhaps a bit too much for Katy’s liking.

“He’s very charming with them and he has an ongoing on email love with my mom and she loves it,” Perry laughs. “She flirts with him, which is totally inappropriate and I tell him to stop.”

Well that’s nice, I think. I just hope my mom doesn’t do that my future fiance! Aside from all the banter Brand and Mama Perry share, it seems that Katy is fully aware that life for her will be very different once she ties the knot, saying she is looking forward to becoming Mrs. Russell Brand, even if it means she has to party less.

“I won’t be able to get drunk all the time, but I don’t want to. I won’t be able to waste hours on the internet, but I don’t need to. I have to be precious with my time because I need time with myself and I want time with him. It’s just about balance.”

It’s called being a wife, Katy. Cheers to that!
